Let me tell you…today was ONE OF THOSE DAYS y’all! Holy cow.

I started in this:

  1. Cardigan & Skirt: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin (strassed by me)

Cute right? Bright, cheery, the promise of spring. But NO. I felt WRETCHED. (I know, utterly ridiculous) And so I started with my skirt, then cardigan, and now there is a pile of 6 cardigans and 7 skirts in my closet. (And I still haven’t hung them up. There’s tomorrow, right?) And left the house in this: (why?! I don’t know. My first outfit was WAY better, I know this!)

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Unknown, picked up under $5 at a thrift store 3 years ago
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade

Why am I sharing this? Because….those who read my blog should know I don’t get dressed to take photos for my blog, I get dressed for my daily life & activities. And I am indecisive. And there are days I HATE everything about what I’m wearing and how I look. And that is OKAY y’all. Totally okay.

So there, some words of wisdom. Get dressed, even if you feel icky. Our weather is so wonky, it really affects my arthritis, and I’m still not healed from the whiplash I got last year. But I hauled myself out because it just needed to happen. And you can too! Okay, soapbox over. I’m utterly gutted for the day and have just enough left in me to crawl into bed!!!

Until next time,

Today was ROUGH. It’s been really humid where we live and my arthritis has been, well rather rude about it. So those 5:30am alarms are rude too! But I dragged myself out this morning to a school board meeting at 7am (I highly recommend all parents attend at least one, it gives you a different perspective on what’s going on), and had to look halfway presentable:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Liana Dress
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
  4. Necklace: Kate Spade

Of course I did change before going to work this afternoon, as the Liana dress is gorgeous, but my ribs are bugging me again, so I needed something a little looser to run around in all afternoon! So I pulled out this number:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: Thrifted
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo (I’ve had these since before I started blogging! 4+ years)

I don’t love this dress all that much, but I get so many comments on it when I wear it. It’s got so many options for shoes and belts too, with the hot air balloon colors! My main dislike of it is the fact that it’s incredibly difficult to get on and off. The fabric is also rather heavy and we’ve had such warm weather all year! It was in the mid 70’s today, so I was able to wear it and not be too hot OR need a cardigan! Best part? It has pockets! I am glad I picked it up, I just wish it was easier to put on and take off.

Are you gearing up for Halloween? We have our school fall festival tomorrow night and I am so at a loss for a costume this year!! Any ideas? I am open to suggestions for tomorrow night!

Until next time,

Weekend Review

Oh. My. Goodness. My weekend was bananas. Our weather has been changing and it has caused intense sinus pressure! Ugh. But rain and cooler weather is coming, so I consider it worth the frustration.

Some recent attire, starting with Friday:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Saturday, to deliver a cake & have a costco date with my husband:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Marielle (spring 2014, they redid this for the outlets and some still have it on their sale rack!)
  2. Belt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Sunday, for church:

  1. Blouse: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Skirt: Anthropologie
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

And finally, today:

  1. Blouse: Anthropologie (but I picked up at a thrift store for $1!)
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Skirt: Nordstrom Rack, $12
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And the beautiful cake I delivered on Saturday:

It turned out SO GORGEOUS!!!! And yes, those are sugar flowers!

Until next time,

Lucky Belle

Today I took Belle out on her first adventure. You know, initially I wasn’t going to buy her, and then I wasn’t sure if I was going to KEEP her. But alas, another novelty bag sucks me in!!

I had planned to go get Chinese food for lunch, but ended up on the other side of town. However I went home and made myself a plate of spicy pan-fried noodles:

So yummy. I always regret it a bit later (they are HOT. The sauce is a sesame garlic with chili paste & hot mustard!), but it’s totally worth it. I could live off noodles! And bread. Oh and any carb-like substance!!

My outfit:

  1. Blouse: Nanette Lepore
  2. Skirt: Escada (thrifted, I’ve had this piece for 6+ years! My sister found it for about $6)
  3. Belt: thrifted
  4. Shoes: Coach, I added Siam crystals to the pointed part, the back is glitter.
  5. Necklace & bracelet: Kate Spade
  6. Watch: Omega (my husbands, but I’ve essentially stolen it.)
  7. Handbag: Kate Spade, outlet exclusive from about a month ago. These sold out SO fast.

Tomorrow I start in on a HUGE cake project…sugar flowers anyone? I’m excited for this one, I don’t often get to make sugar flowers!

Until next time,

PS: Eugene is doing well, he says hello. Him and Lady are happily engaged. (He moves fast!)

Spots, Spots, Spots I Say!

Hello spots! I pulled out this skirt today that I haven’t worn in ages, a thrift shop find 2 or 3 years ago! No label, someone made it (and it’s so beautifully finished too)

  1. Top: Target, old (2+ years ago! I had it in white too, but I long since ruined it)
  2. Skirt: thrifted, handmade
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade (although I switched to flats later in the day. I just can’t do a whole day in heels yet!)
  4. Necklace: Kate Spade (recent from the outlet)
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade (old, 2-3 years ago? It’s kind of slouchy but has held up well!)

And I spent my day working on costumes and headbands for an upcoming church event. I’ve been putting this off for over a month! Now we are two weeks away from tech rehearsals, I need to get a move on!!!

I’m super excited for this year….our theme is “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, and quite honestly I pulled 90% of the costumes from either my closet or my costume stash, which it’s fun to see things re-purposed. I just love these feathered headbands!

Until next time,

Monday….oh Monday

It was back to school today! Which meant my alarm went off at 5:30. Well, it was supposed to, I was awake before that. I did manage to pull myself together….but oh man, the first day is always BRUTAL!!! (And let’s face it, I still have whiplash, and am fairly miserable)

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: thrifted
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Then it just got hotter and hotter today. And I found this adorable silk dress recently, so I threw it on! It seems very vintage-y!

  1. Dress: Goodwill (brand unknown)
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Bonus? It matches my bedroom! I love soft blue colors, they are very calming.

Until next time,

Oh Monday, we meet again. But first, to recap our adventures yesterday.

We live up “the hill” so to speak. To go to LA or Disney, Orange County, etc, it’s a drive through a mountain pass. Normally, not a big deal. But some genius here in California decided “Let’s redo the Cajon Pass!”. Gee, thanks moron! It’s been a year and a half now of utter nightmares! But we decided to approach it with gusto and make the best of it. Going down was fine and dandy. However, coming back up?! Traffic was backed up for MILES. (We are talking probably 10-ish)  So we off-road it! Did we save time? I don’t know. But it sure was fun!!!! I didn’t get any photos (just some video), but the kids had a BLAST. It was also fun to see the route people used to take, insane!!

My outfit….we went to a fancy lunch/dinner to celebrate our 5th anniversary (this was with the kids…us as a family!)

And the funny photo our oldest took of us! (Also before I took all my jewelry off…that necklace is heavy!)

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  3. Handbag: Kate Spade
  4. Big necklace: Kate Spade

I didn’t take many photos….I think sometimes the memories are enough. The kids are already planning the next “anniversary”, so the whole “celebrate as a family” was a really good idea. Now to figure out when my husband and I can get away!!

Today I threw on an old favorite….the pineapples just make me happy, and I needed it today! I’m pretty sore….some is self inflicted, that whole “rest and be still” is very difficult for me!

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Thrifted

Hope your weekend was fabulous! It’s going to be a busy week…not sure if I’ll keep up with blogging or not. Going to try!

Until next time,
