Monday Blues

Monday oh Monday. After having the last week (nearly) “off”, today was a little rough. I remember why I don’t like to be gone from home for long periods of time, between sleeping in strange beds, to breaking our normal routine, but I am thankful we went and my husband and I had some kid-free time away from our home! (Thanks to my BRAVE mom and dad who hosted the kids at “camp” for the whole time!!!)

I admit to not taking many photos of outfits while we were gone, mainly due to the lighting in the hotel in Phoenix, and our weekend here in Southern California was mostly phone-free. (I admit to checking Facebook and Instagram, but I didn’t post anything. Which is hard for me!!) But I will share some of my brilliant shopping finds while I was gone!

These gorgeous clutches, the pink is Ted Baker & the blue Kate Spade:
The Kate Spade”world map” scarves in BOTH colors!

One of the many SJP shoes I bought…I love these as I did now own a nude pair of shoes before.

This GORGEOUS Halston Heritage dress. The tailoring on it is sublime:

Some outfits:

Tueaday, my first shopping “adventure” (hit outlets + secret shopping spot)

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade (via The Real Real)
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Sophia Webster Remmie

I changed for dinner that night into this:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: Ted Baker
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  4. Necklace: Kate Spade
  5. Clutch: Ted Baker

The dress, clutch & shoes were all purchased while in Arizona. All 3 pieces were under $100 TOTAL. I know. I was dying. See my ridiculous facial expression? And my poor discarded Sophia Webster Remmie heels in the bottom right corner? I got the best compliment from a server at the restaurant, really set the tone for the whole trip!

Wednesday, another trip to the secret shopping spot (this time not so overwhelmed and armed with a list for friends! I also hit the big mall in Scottsdale to visit Kate Spade. I didn’t buy anything at the mall, just redeemed all my birthday month freebies!)

  1. Blouse: Kohls (old, I need to find a replacement!)
  2. Skirt: Anthropologie
  3. Belt: Secondhand
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

I also changed again for dinner, because I’m a girl, and when you find gorgeous clothes you want to wear them ASAP!

  1. Dress: Halston Heritage
  2. Clutch: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: SJP

This was before I had finished my hair, I was still deciding on shoes and clutch. (See discarded shoe pile!) I’ve had these SJP heels for quite a while, however I wish I had waited as they were cheaper in Az. Alas, not to be! But I scored enough other gorgeous shoes for so cheap it evens out I suppose! This Halson dress was under $40, and the clutch was under $50. The dress is that gorgeous heavy silk faille fabric Kate Spade used to use. It’s very well made and I love that the hem is slightly weighted down, perfect for the windy desert I live in!!!

Thursday I slipped my new red dress on again (why oh why did I pack all those clothes again?!), and dragged my husband shopping. (I know, I have ISSUES. We had a ball though. We laughed and snorted and didn’t get lost once!)

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Shoes: SJP (I’m becoming a huge fan of her shoes!!!)

And Friday for the trek back to California and our anniversary trip (very belated!! We had intended to stay over but my husband was on call all weekend, so we had to be fairly close to home)

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Topshop
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin, strassed by me

And finally today:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Anthropologie
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

I know, outfit repeater!!! Sometimes I fall in love with an article of clothing that I want to wear it ALL THE TIME! I’m sure this is pretty standard!! The dress I wore today is a nice fabric, cut so it won’t fly in the wind, and best of all has pockets! I have a short week before we take off yet again (however this is a last minute thing, as family situations usually are), and I needed comfort and function today as I caught up from a week gone and a short week home. I am thankful the kids have a two week break, as it allows us to have some flexibility in scheduling! So while I’m “back”, it’s still going to be a short week!

If you have questions about any of my shopping finds, please shoot me an email. I know some of the places are closely guarded secret shopping spots, and I completely understand why! And now someone PLEASE take away my Visa card, it needs a break! (And I need to unload some pieces in my closet before anymore additions!!) I even managed to not buy a thing during the sale on sale this weekend! Whew.

Until next time,

Red, White & Black

I cannot help it, I am a sucker for black and white, especially in a dress! This was a Nordstrom exclusive in 2014, and even though mine is a little big, belted it works! Especially as I’m still struggling with whiplash and rib pain from the accident earlier this year.

  1. Dress: Kate Spade, via The Real Real
  2. Belt: Thrifted
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

I love the lace accent, and of course this dress has pockets, one of my favorite things in a dress or skirt.

Until next time,

Florals & Chickens

Today I pulled out a dress I have only worn once before…a sample piece I picked up off The Real Real last year:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade (outlet, under $30)
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Kate Spade via Nordstrom
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin, Strassed by me in Violet crystals
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade Rachelle

And I bought the kids these at Walmart this morning….I couldn’t resist:

They are like stretchy sticky things you flick. The boys LOVE THEM. Okay, and I had fun flicking them as well. Aren’t we all just big kids?!

Until next time,

Friday Adventures

Today I committed a faux paus. I wore a dress I wore less than two weeks ago!

  1. Cardigan: JCrew Kids
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Carolyn
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo

I also picked up a girlfriend and we popped up to the newest Kate Spade outlet (Barstow, Ca on the Tanger side) that opened yesterday. While I figured it would be mainly new stock, I was still disappointed and VERY underwhelmed by their selection!! They had 4 fit and flare dresses (and 4 additional dresses, 3 out of that crepe material I hate and one out of a thick cotton), all of which I already own! They had the pink Roset, black & white Adette, the lemon Lyric, and the multi stripe (blues) Mariella dress. They do not have the dress I picked up late last week from Desert Hills, and I felt their handbag selection was very very light. Pricing was so-so….lets just say I paid less for all 4 dresses that I own on sale at the regular store or outlet transfers last year! Some photographs:

I did buy the lemon coin purse, and I risky purchased the lemon phone case, however I did not like how it fit, but when I went to return, decided to exchange for the pink & orange stripe one, especially as it matches my dress!! I don’t like the hybrid hard shells as much as the one I’ve had on my phone (that I got at the Verizon store last December), but for approx $20, it’s a nice change! Hopefully as the store is open longer they will start to get clearance (they have NO clearance wall!! WHAT?!) and transfers from the regular stores. The staff is very friendly, and they do invoke what I consider the “Kate Spade Standard”, which is always nice to see! I must say it can be strange when you own everything in a store!! Is there Kate Spade rehab???

But honestly? I was most excited about the cardigan at Banana Republic (under $20 each), and the $6 dress shirt I snagged for my oldest child! These cardigans are adorable, the buttons are very much like the Kate Spade ones I have, at a fraction of the cost, plus I go through black cardigans like water! Such a wardrobe staple, yet they fade after a bit. The other is a very pale blushy-pinky-purple:

I also got this in the mail today, (see? I need REHAB! Oh and can we discuss the other dresses my husband bought me with the 25% wardrobe styling event the specialty shops are running all weekend? OOPS!!) an older dress I picked up at The Real Real, with a discount code and some credit (so it was under $50):

Classic Kate Spade, I love my older pieces, the linings are a beautiful thick satin and all the seams are finished beautifully! The construction really is a work of art!

Hope you had a terrific Friday, and a wonderful weekend ahead! Hard to believe we spring forward on Sunday!!!

Until next time,

Happy Happy Day

Whew, long day! Let me tell you! However, as far as birthday’s go, it was FABULOUS.

I started the day with this, finding out it was being released today:

I wore this:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: The Real Real (thank you credits + discount!)
Belt: Target
Shoes: Crystal AB strassed Manolo Blahnik flats

This dress I believe is a sample piece, it’s a size 4, and is slightly unfinished inside. It’s too big, but I belted it and didn’t take my cardigan off anyway. I plan to have it tailored at some point! I love the print though!!

My sister sent me a very special birthday present all the way from the east coast:

Squee!!! So excited about that tiny little box!

My birthday present from my husband arrived:

So in love with this dress! Of course it has pockets!!!!

And I spent most of my day either baking (cookies and cake pops) or at kids’ sports. But even so, I was blessed by many wonderful birthday messages/notes/cards, I can honestly say with as full as my plate is right now, it was the BEST birthday ever! Hello 33, can we have a fabulous year together?

And now I retire to read my shameless Becky Bloomwood. She’s so crazy!

Until next time,

Squee! I hunted for this skirt for AGES!

Blouse: Banana Republic
Skirt: Kate Spade
Belt: Target
Shoes: Christian Louboutin, Strassed by me

The skirt came from The Real Real, I’m sending some items for consignment. Quite pleased with the whole process!

Until next time,
