Tuesday

Oh Tuesday….I have spent the last 3 Tuesday’s at the car dealership, but hopefully today was the last for a bit! We had to unload an older car (hey, it had 290,000 miles on it!!), and I bought a new to me car, but it had a minor issue that took a bit of time to diagnose and fix. But it has allowed some fun adventures! Last Tuesday we ended up down in Orange County, and today I popped over to Glendale. I think all my running is catching up, as I seem to be catching a bit of a summer cold (ugh!), which is ironic considering its 100+ degrees out!

But I still pulled myself together (somewhat, my hair is in a ponytail.)

  1. Blouse: JCrew
  2. Belt: Target
  3. Skirt: Anthropologie

I bought this lovely eyeshadow palette last week, where has this been all my life? Eyeshadow that looks AND smells like chocolate?! YES PLEASE!

Too Faced sponsored a pop up at the grove last Friday:

I cannot believe my daughter is 12! I don’t feel old enough for this y’all!!!! She’s totally starting to steal some of my dresses (the one she has on is French Connection). I’m in for it for sure!

Until next time,

Jules

Wait, FLIP FLOPS?!

It happened. I wore FLIP FLOPS all day today. Hey, it’s hot, it’s summertime, and I had the day off to play mom with the kids, and so I dressed for the part (sort of)

  1. Blouse: Target
  2. Belt: Target (I think!)
  3. Skirt: Kate Spade Madison Avenue
  4. Necklace: Target
  5. Shoes: ?? Some off brand I picked up somewhere (I don’t even remember where! I usually wear them while I’m baking in the kitchen)

The skirt it a relatively new acquisition, but everything else is 3+ years old. I have so many clothes, I really need to start wearing more of them!

Until next time,

Jules

The Horror

It finally happened. I’ve had cell phones for 16 years, and I have never lost or had one stolen.

Until Friday night. When my beloved phone was pickpocketed right out of my purse in a Nike store (NOTE: they have TERRIBLE customer service, even though this is a problem IN this particular store. I am not pleased right now, and we spend a lot of money there!!). Oh and note to self: NEVER TURN OFF FIND MY IPHONE. Gah. Lesson learned. Luckily it did get on a wifi connection and wiped itself eventually. I’m mainly mad about the two months of photos I lost. And the reaction at the Nike store where it happened. Just terrible. I did get a replacement, nothing was compromised (talk about furiously changing all my passwords in the car on my husbands phone while we raced to Verizon to replace it! The Verizon folks were AWESOME), just all my lost photos. Yes, cloud, something I am now using. Still.

So, watch your purse ladies….and never turn off “find my iPhone”! Because yes, I would have been the deranged woman chasing the thieves down.

That said, some outfits, photos taken with my new shiny phone(the camera is quite nice actually!):

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade

  1. Dress: Adrianna Papell
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  3. Necklace: vintage pearls & brooch

  1. Dress: Halston Heritage
  2. Necklace: Target
  3. Shoes: Sam Edleman
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Life has died down a bit, school is out next week and summer activities shall commence! Still working on some fun family outings, it will be interesting to only have 3 kids all summer, as our oldest will be away at camp for 8 weeks! I’m so excited for him!!

Until next time,

Jules

Holiday Parties

Last week I spent much time in my kitchen prepping what I thought was my last batch of French Macarons for the year (turns out I’m baking again this week), packing and prepping to go out of town, and finally heading to Omaha to attend a whirlwind of parties & socializing! I did manage to pull myself together in the middle of it all!

Some outfit recaps:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Secondhand
  4. Shoes: Sam Edleman

What I wore to fly home Saturday morning (sadly I failed to snap a photo the day I left!)

  1. Cardigan: Target
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Sam Edleman

Friday-day I had intended to wear this skirt with a cardigan, but I sadly left planned cardigan at home, and packed this one instead: (also the only flats I packed!)

  1. Sweater: Banana Republic
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Sam Edleman

Sunday….in a dress I picked up while in Omaha at the outlet in Gretna:

  1. Cardigan: Banana Republic
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Necklace: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

Today….milking the Christmas themed attire:

  1. Cardigan: Banana Republic (4 years ago, holiday…its held up quite well!)
  2. Skirt: French Connection
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade

And finally….the two ensembles I packed for the two events we went specifically to Omaha for.

Thursday night, I pulled out the Madison Avenue dress my husband purchased for me earlier this year:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Madison Ave (I still can’t believe we tracked this one down, and in my perfect size!!)
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples strassed in Crystal AB
  3. Handbag: Kate Spade (AKA The Muppet)

I also dragged my dark mink coat with me, thinking it would be quite cold, but the weather ended up being so mild! It was nice to have, as evenings with the wind were quite chilly.

Friday night was the black tie affair, which I had found out about when we were in Phoenix earlier this year, finding this dress the very next day tucked away in a Dillards sale rack! At first I thought it was maybe Alice & Olivia, but whatever brand it was, I will never know! The tag was gone inside and it just had a generic price tag on it. But the moment I put it on, I knew with the addition of straps and the right belt & accessories it would be spectacular! The belt I found just a couple of weeks ago, the clutch back in November, and the jewlery I already had (necklace & bracelets are all Ben-Amun)

My husband and I had a wonderful time, and I loved my ensemble. The dress also had pockets! Not my typical “sparkly” look, but sometimes one must change it up a bit!  We have one more party to attend later this week, and then I shall put my fancy party wear away for a bit. (Kidding!)

Happy Holidays! Are you ready for them? I’m getting there…I am sorely behind this year though, eeks!

Until next time,

Jules

Another Long Recap

Holidays are pretty busy, and this year takes the cake for our household! I find myself forgetting to blog quite frequently!! So, here’s some outfit recaps:

  1. Cardigan: Target
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo (strassed by me)
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: Vintage
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

  1. Blouse: Kohls
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Target
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo

And finally, the first holiday party ensemble of the season! Some friends of ours invited us out to Los Angeles for the Delta LAX Christmas Party….we had a ball! And of course after agonizing about my dress/shoes (my bag was easy!), here’s the end result:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Emma, holiday 2013
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin, strassed by me.

My husband and I got a really nice photo of the two of us, but I’m saving it to go on the family Christmas card (which I still need to order!!). We had fun. I felt like it was a great warm up to the two parties we have later this week. I may be remiss in posting this week, but my Instagram, Katespadegirlblog, is kept fairly up to date!

Meanwhile, back to this:

Bagging & tagging 100’s of French Macarons!

Until next time,

Jules

Thursday

Oooooo, this week is flying! Last night I actually changed to go out, as it was super cold! I don’t often wear tights, but I think this may be the year of exploring tights & some wild coloured ones!

  1. Jacket: Target
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Necklace: glass beads with a Ben Amun brooch

Today I took a summery eyelet dress and added accessories to make it more “fall” appropriate. Granted, “cold” where we live is anything under 60 degrees, but it does drop into the 20’s and 30’s at night!

  1. Cardigan: Target (2+ years ago)
  2. Dress: Adrianna Papell
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Necklace: glass beads (these have been on heavy rotation lately!) with a vintage brooch
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade

My outfit, if you subtract the cost of my shoes (which were still secondhand and minimal compared to their retail!) was less than $30! I got a lot of compliments today as well, it really was a classic look. Black heels would have looked just as good, however I liked the extra “pop” of the silver heels (and they are so comfortable!!).

Until next time,

Jules
