Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Ouch, it’s hard to believe fall is “officially” here! Of course it still feels like summer where I live, although I haven’t had to run my air conditioning in a few days, which is nice! While I’m ready for fall, I’m still dressing for summer, something required when the high hits the low 90’s!

Sunday I wore this, first time since I fixed the broken zipper!

Dress: Kate Spade Emma Dress
Belt: Made by me
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: unsigned, picked up at Burlington Coat factory for less than $10
Bracelet: Ben Amun
Handbag: Stuart Weitzman (an it’s a wrap find for under $20!)

I did not receive any assistance from Kate Spade to fix my zipper (which is unfortunate, especially as they have used this color zipper since this dress! I only needed a zipper pull!!!). I ended up hunting down the company who manufactures zipper FOR Kate Spade and got a rose gold zipper pull from them (sadly, it does not have the pretty “bow” pull, but it IS the right colour!) and replaced it myself. Voila! Back in business. Add in a large necklace and wear my hair down and no one will notice the pull is different! (And even then, most people probably wouldn’t know)

Yesterday I wore this, an eBay find I was super excited about as I’ve been hunting for a black Jillian dress in my size for over a year!

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kohls

I threw the same dress on this morning to run kids to school. I’m actually headed back home, I’m working from home today, packing (I leave tomorrow for a week out of town), and doing “mommy” duties so my brood doesn’t starve while I’m gone. Food (specifically dinner) is my husbands love language, and so when I have to be gone, I try to make a point of preparing meals that are super easy to heat up and serve. This working mom and having to travel is rough yall!

Hope your week is awesome! My updates will be sporadic the next week or so. Catch me on Instagram (katespadegirlblog) or Twitter (ksgirlblog) for photos of my adventures!

Until next time,

It’s Friday!

Happy Friday! Well, what’s left of it anyhow. I neglected to snap my outfit today (although it wasn’t very exciting), but here are some bits from my day:

Newest project, multi-colored strassed Manolo Blahnik flats:

I’m planning on using: violet/violet AB, jonquil/jonquil AB, light sapphire/light sapphire AB, and the green color (don’t remember what it is) in two sections. One green section is non AB (what is already done), and then I’m going to do an AB section. These should be fun!

My traveling companion when the kids are in school:

Sully from Monster’s Inc. isn’t he the cutest?!

I also sealed and touched up shoes this evening:

Dinner, mmmmm, my favorite Round Table pizza:(well, where I live anyway, that delivers. It’s slim pickings here)

And the best part? Movie night without ever leaving home!

And some Hello Panda! thrown in for fun:

Should be an exciting weekend. The children have a 3-day weekend, and I’m planning on braving Disneyland on Monday with them. With sparkly shoes.

Do you have any weekend plans? Are you preparing for Valentine’s day? I’ve started getting my little surprises together for friends and family. I enjoy Valentine’s day, but for reasons other than Hallmark. I am more touched by small thoughtful things, than overpriced flowers and expensive presents. Those two items should be a weekly occurrence, not once a year! *grins*

Until next time,

Until next time,

In which I do nothing

Today is the first Monday in a very long time I have no responsibilities! My children are all gone, my husband is stuck at work in the middle of a massive project, and I don’t have cleanup from an event this past weekend!

My sister and I were planning on going into LA today. But she had something come up, and it didn’t happen. Soooo, while I am dressed, I have no shoes on!

My outfit:

The Rundown:
Blouse: Ann Taylor, $4.98 on sale
Shorts: Kate Spade

Sigh. I was planning on a total shopping ban this month. But then I ended up at the outlets yesterday. Bad bad!! And today I am going thrifting with my sister. I need therapy! (granted I don’t buy things I can’t afford, it was more of a “can I do this” thing)

This morning I am crafting. Shoes. Remember these?

Well, they had a redo! Now they look like this:

I’m very thrilled with them. I custom blended the color. This whole painting shoes thing is so much fun!!!

Now back to my other project. It’s a secret! 😉

Also, I’m still working on my giveaway. I am now planning on it being a 4th of July event! Stay tuned!!!

Until next time,

LA Last Week

Last Thursday was quite an adventure! My girlfriend who was visiting was headed home. We had a packed week, but no, it wasn’t enough!!!

So we got up early, my wonderful mother took all 4 children, and we popped down to LA. First we ran around downtown area, picking up fabric and ribbons for my weddings this past weekend. Then, the fun began!

First stop? Natural History Museum’s Dinosaur Hall. Epic adventure, it’s really unbelievable!! And it was empty so j managed to snap some incredible pictures on my Nikon. Here’s some iPhone snaps…..

I wish I’d has a video camera when Kara saw those bones. It was amazing!! I am going to have to bring my children down there to see it. My 10-yr old lives dinosaurs!!

So, after we puttered around. Went through La Break Canyon, and drove around. We were headed to Hollywood, as I wanted to hit the Christian Louboutin store. But then realized we needed caffeine.

In our quest for coffee, we found this lovely little store, “it’s a wrap”. Oh my goodness!!! Jackpot! They have clothing from movie sets! I snagged a pair of gorgeous white satin Stuart Weitzmans, $32. Brand new practical. The satin is dirty and the crystals are falling off, but I intend to dye them red and add red crystals. If I remember thy are from a soap opera, one life to live? I don’t watch much tv, so I’m unsure.

After several more stops (but no purchases), we ended up at Loehmans at the Beverly Center. I bought these items….

Shoes: Nina, $8
Necklace: Robert Rose, $12

And then I picked a few tops up from Banana Republic, got snubbed (hardcore at that!!!!) by the snotty SA’s at Jimmy Choo (unfortunate, I was wearing their shoes!), and we headed out for dinner with friends.

Our poolside feast:

And then we made s’mores. Well, I just burned marshmallows!!

After that I took a nap before I had to go to the LA Flower market for a 2am pickup. It was a fun but exhausting day!

I slept alot after I got home Saturday night, and today I’m ready for another action packed week!! No trips to Vegas though!

Until next time,

What I’m Wearing

Whew, crazy busy day! My baby “graduated” the big Kindergarten. That was insane.

I ran around in this today

The Rundown:
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Strassed Stuart Weitzman heels
Handbag: Black Kate Spade (not pictured)
Necklace: Vintage (I wear this all the time! It was my great grandmother’s)

And the cake I did for the graduation party

Whew. And the poor kids have to go to school for 3 more days! Torture!!!!

Until next time,

What I’m Wearing

Whew! Busy busy day!! We have been tearing up our yard for over a year now, and finally we’re at the “plant pretty things” stage! I planted gebera daisies, dahlias and lantanas today. Soooo excited! And I will pick up more roses next Friday to plant in the now-empty beds out front. It’s going to smell amazing when we are done! (we have a waterfall into our pond, and I’m going to put flowering jasmine up there. That stuff grows so well here. And the smell, mmmmmmm)

Anyway, I finally got presentable because I had a consult this afternoon.

The Rundown:
Cardigan: Forever 21
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Hand-strassed Stuart Weitzmans
Handbag: Kate Spade

I love my shoes. I mean, I love these shoes!! I would wear them every day if I could. Now I need to find time (and crystals!!) to do a second pair. I suppose I need a shoe too!

Maybe July. I have a fairly light schedule in July (going to need it!)

Until next time,
