Pastels & Sparkles

Today was another gorgeous day here in Southern California! I continue to be amazed by the sunny days. Of course the flip side is the drought that seems to be worsening….so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a little rain!

I wore my new strassed shoes this morning to church (glad I did too! Had to make a few minor repairs. And yes, I really need to start making my bed!!!!):

Cardigan: Banana Republic (off eBay)
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Crystal AB strass Christian Louboutin simple pumps
Handbag: Coach (3+ years old!)

And yesterday at Fashion Island, Kate Spade’s sale items were on sale! Additional 40% off!! Sooooo, after NOT buying a car, I convinced my husband that he was getting off easy with the two items I desperately wanted. There may have been some negotiating happening as to them being Valentine & Mother’s Day gifts. BUT, he caved fairly quickly and isn’t even holding them hostage!

Shoes, brand new, never even tried on! I’m soooooo excited about these, I’ve had them on my wish list since they came out. Pale pink glittery heels WITH a big bow?! Yes please!!!!

And then this cardigan, another wish list item.

I have a gorgeous pink shimmery ballgown I picked up a few months ago while thrifting that I think would be perfect with both pieces. And a darling Escada clutch I snagged secondhand! I’m thinking it will be perfect for a wedding this spring we have been invited too. I must admit I spent quite some time this afternoon just smelling the shoes. The magic of brand new leather shoes, well, I don’t know if there is anything like it! Kate Spade’s shoes have the same type of soft leather sole that Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik both use, yet the support on par with my beloved Christian Louboutin simple pumps.

Ahhhh, new shoes. They make everything brighter, yes?

I hope your weekend was filled with many fabulous adventures! I know for some it is a 3-day weekend, however in my house the adults go back to work tomorrow. I’m only working half the day, as the kids are home from school. It’s going to be another crazy week! I plan to keep up with my blog as much as possible though. Check out my Instagram for more photos: katespadegirlblog. I’m a bit of an Instagram addict!

Until next time,

Jules

Projects, Soda, and Random Musings

This afternoon after my first (nearly) solo grill adventure (hot dogs!)

And the feast I then served on our back patio (freshly swept and all our work has paid off, our patio is cleared off and it’s party time!!)

I decided to indulge my daughters request for sparkly shoes. I bought her these last year to wear to my grandmother’s wedding. I mis-calculated her feet however, and she only wore them once (stuffed with tissue paper!!). Now that they nearly fit her, might as well dress them up more!

The sparkles on the toes were already there, I just painted the silver trim a pale blue and added light sapphire and light sapphire AB Preciosa crystals. SS16, SS30, & SS34. I went large and easy So it would go fast. Plus I won’t use the SS30 an SS34 anytime soon, too large for shoes!

And after dinner the kids all had their soda they bought at Rocket Fizz a week ago.

Aren’t the names cute? I also picked up a pile of salt water taffy there (yum! How did I not enjoy this before?!) I’ve been posting lots of random pictures on Instagram, follow me on there under KateSpadeGirlBlog.

Don’t forget, my contest ends tonight at 11:59pm!

Until next time,

Jules

Another Giveaway in the works!!

So, being as I’ve gotten over 2,000 hits (OH MY GOODNESS!!!), and I currently have 36 followers, why not have another giveaway?

I’ll post the rules here, and I will post the actual giveaway details on July 1st.

Rules:

1. MUST be a follower of this blog.

2. This giveaway will be open to the entire world. Well, anywhere that USPS offers mail delivery that is. (although, I cannot guarantee delivery for those outside of the US…but I ship/receive alot of mail, and rarely do I lose packages)

3. This giveaway will be sponsored by me, and only me. I did not receive anything from any company or a freebie, etc in exchange for advertising. (nor have I ever)

4. Must Love Sparkles.

Okay, I believe thats it. Keep an eye out. I’ve had this in the works for a while, thought it would be fun. I just needed to get a little less busy in my business to be able to address it, and to do it properly!! I’m excited!

Off to finish making a movie camera out of sugar. Seriously? I have the coolest work ever! And I played with shoes today too.

Oh yes, on a very very sad note. Those lovely Louboutins that I painted yesterday? With the intention of strassing? They hate me. They want to be black without paint & crystals. The paint ALL peeled off. And my attempts to strip the leather finish to repaint? NOPE. These suckers want to be black. Le Sigh. SO, black they shall stay. I’m going to have the heel tips replaced and the black leather refinished. I might have to ship them off, my cobbler up here wasn’t too keen on messing with them. But he said to bring them back tomorrow, the owner would be there, and the owner MIGHT be able to handle it. (they need some light touch up, heel tips, etc)

And in other news, I have decided to put myself on a ban. No acquisitions for the next month. (eeks!!) which means, no strassing, as I don’t have a pair of Christian Louboutins to strass! (unless I decide to bite the bullet and strass those navy simples I got a couple of weeks ago *bites nails*) Well, starting July  1st. So, let’s see what I can come up with between now and then!! Wish me luck!! I’m trying to streamline in anticipation of a trip I have coming up in the fall, with the hopes of picking up something fabulous while in a big city.

Until next time,

Jules

Giveaway Update

Well, looks like as of RIGHT NOW, I have 80 entries. 20 shy of 100.

However, I will keep it open until Midnight, PST (my time), and IF there are 20 more entires by then (from commenting, liking, re-blogging, sharing on facebook, emailing me), I will add in a really adorable pair of kitten-heel Kate Spade yellow & white sz39 pointy-toe shoes. (they fit like a true 9, hence why they are in my go bye-bye pile)

NOW, if you win, and you are not a sz39 in Kate Spade shoes, I have some other Kate Spade items that I will let you choose from that are in the “bye bye” or “ebay” pile. And then perhaps I’ll put the shoes up as a blog sale post (something I am seriously considering doing. I really dislike selling on ebay!!) along with some other Kate Spade items. (eeks! hard to part with!! But I am trying to make an attempt to streamline my clothing addiction)

20 more entries!

Until next time,

Jules

Closet Project

The bane of my existence, keeping my closet tidy & organized! I have these lovely shelves, except they aren’t really for shoes so it’s always tricky to keep them from flying off! Forget putting flats on the shelves, my feet are simply too big!

20120325-105006.jpg

Here’s the top two shelves, all color-coordinated (sort of!). And confession time, I have several more pairs of black heels that are stored in their shoeboxes! (I won’t even admit to flats & flat sandals!!). I do try to rotate my shoes, so I get more use out of them. (alas, it’s merely a pathetic attempt on my part, I still seem to wear the same 4 pairs of shoes!!!)

20120325-105304.jpg

These are the bottom two shelves. My handbag shelf is rather disorganized, but I do try to keep my bags in their sleeper bags. I realized as I was organizing and moving things around today, I only have two brands of handbags, Kate Spade & Coach. And I’ve only ever bought one bag new! This one:

20120325-105550.jpg

Which I simply adore!!! I think they might have made a bangle bracelet, might need to add that, just for fun!!

Any recommendations to making my shoe shelves more useable, please send them to me! Or post them here!

Back to my closet, next I’m going to tackle clothing, it’s time for a purge! Perhaps I’ll have to run a giveaway next week! Something to think about, maybe if I get enough followers!

Until next time,

Jules
