Wednesday Insanity

Seriously, I have NO OTHER WORDS for today.  I’ll start with outfits from the past few days….

  1. Cardigan: Barney’s
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed in Light Siam stones.

Tuesday….where I wore the same dress but swapped out some details from day to evening. Everything is Kate Spade.

  1. Cardigans: Both Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Sonja in Navy Blue
  3. Belts: Both Kate Spade, the first came with the dress, the burgundy one is from Nordstrom.
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade (both pairs), in fact both are suede!!!
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade Rachelle (the smaller version is back at the outlets in this color!!!)
  6. Necklace: Kate Spade (current at the outlets)

Today encompassed 3 ensembles. I started in this to run some errands:

  1. Blouse: Thrifted, no brand.
  2. Skirt: Sandee Royalty
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Then I changed to take my oldest for his driving test!!! (Hang on…this is where my day gets REALLY REALLY INSANE)

  1.  Dress: Kate Spade Adette (some outlets may still have this dress on their clearance rack!!!!!)
  2. Belt: Kate Spade (from Nordstrom)
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin (I LOVE these heels!!! That silver bow is sublime)

Then I changed to this….

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade Girls, size Large (on sale right now!!!!)
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Adette
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed in Light Siam.

Now you ask…why the outfit change, and WHAT HAPPENED at the driving test.

Well. We pull up and the kid puts the car in park and I am going to get out of the car, as it’s his turn to meet his examiner. But all of a sudden there’s a horrific BAM BOOM BAM and the car lurches forward about 10 feet (it was in PARK mind you!!!. We both freaked thinking it was a bomb or something. But no.

The driver behind us SLAMMED INTO MY CAR. In fact they slammed into my bumper SO HARD, there is an imprint of their license plate embedded in my bumper!! And about 3 punctured holes IN the bumper. People are running and screaming at the kid to put the car in park (I don’t blame them…the car lurched that much!!), and was just plain dizzy and seeing stars. I was unbelted and about to exit the car, so I went flying.

However, as they suggested a reschedule of the test, as I was aching with whiplash, I look over and see my son calm as a cucumber. Ready to take his test. WHICH HE PASSED!!! I’m so proud of him…he got in his first accident AND passed his behind the wheel driving test all within a 45-minute period.

Of course I have who knows what wrong with my back now. I just know I am in considerable pain, dizzy, and have a wicked cool headache. But hey, THE KID PASSED HIS TEST. And he has a wicked cool story to tell.

The bright side? My flamingo survived:

I have an incredible team of Drs already lined up to fix me, and the car will get a shiny new bumper. He also has a really memorable story for the day he got his license. I’m hoping it encourages him to be a very thoughtful driver. It also could have been worse….it could have been my kid who hit someone in line to take their driving test!! I’m thankful for our car insurance company who has already handled so much. Also grateful he took his test in my big SUV, as the other cars would have been seriously injured!! My biggest concern is for my back/neck, I know tomorrow is not going to be fun! Back to flats for a while for me!

Until next time,

Monday Musings

Woah, can I just say this past weekend was one I do not care to repeat?! I shall spare the details, let’s just say it’s a miracle I hauled myself into a presentable human being this morning!! Spring break is over and it’s back to the “grind” (not that I had a spring break, but the kids did!).

Some recaps (sort of) from the weekend. I had meetings on Saturday with clients, I threw this on (photos taken while waiting at their chosen venue to view it more thoroughly):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Banana Republic
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And yesterday I dragged my aching weary self out of bed kt make a Target run with my husband, and threw this on(quite literately, I grabbed the first top that looked appropriate. Without checking to see it was 85 degrees outside!!)

Top: Ann Taylor
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Let’s just say I should not be let outside unattended, as I posses special skills for extra spectacular falls. My poor aching back!!

And today, you see I’m in flats, because my back refuses to allow me to wear anything but right now.

Cardigan: American Eagle (thrifted)
Blouse: Kate Spade
Belt: Kate Spade
Skirt: Sandee Royalty
Shoes: Strassed Jimmy Choo flats
Handbag: Kate Spade

The highlight of my day? These pretties:

Buy one get one half off at Target! I’ve been dying for a gold glitter belt, yay!!

Hope your Monday is grand! Mine is over and I am headed to nurse my aching back. Major props to my husband for taking over the past couple of days, he even got up with a sick kiddo. That’s love ladies, that’s love.

Until next time,

Saturday Musings

What a gorgeous Saturday across Southern California! My husband and I rounded up the kids and headed down to Orange County to car shop. Currently am sitting in the dealership awaiting on MY car, as we are having the navigation system updated. I have to say, Newport Lexus does know how to make the waiting game a comfortable experience!

Sadly no new car, as we both feel the one my husband loved is priced a little high, and we are walking. It feels odd being a grown up and resisting the “sense of urgency” the car salesman tried to instill in us!!

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (off eBay)
Blouse: thrifted
Skirt: Hartley skirt from Sandee Royalty
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (off eBay)
Handbag: Kate Spade

I did have a necklace on, but with all my recent neck issues, it was driving me nuts after 5 minutes so I left it off and at home.

Yesterday I wore this:

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Blouse: Donna Karan (thrifted, summer 2010)
Skirt: INC, thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade

I stayed up until 1am this morning finishing up my crystal AB Strassed Simple pumps. I am SO EXCITED about these! I wanted to wear them today, but I’m waiting until the event I finished them for this coming week.

Hard to believe these were black leather just over a week ago!

And finally, some photos from our drive to Orange County:

I suppose I shall sit back and wait for the next hour for my car, and attempt to convince my husband that we must go to South Coast Plaza AND Fashion Island before heading home. Perfectly reasonable, eh? Okay, perhaps not. I imagine we will end up at Fashion Island, as there is a Kate Spade store there, and the kids really enjoy going there. They are sadly too old to be bribed by the prospect of a merry-go-round! Oh well, one day I will have grand kids that will fall for that “trick”.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Until next time,

Lace & Sparkle

I’m starting to see a trend here….it’s blue. I have an obsession with blue skirts it seems! 3rd day in a row! I promise I do not have 30 blue skirts, I will embrace other colours over the next 26 days!!

But alas, what can one say? I nearly put on a red skirt, but wasn’t feeling it. So here is the result of this mornings “oh my, I have a closet full of nothing to wear!!” crisis:

Top: Thrifted, no tag
Skirt: Sandee Royalty (
Shoes: Jonquil strass Jimmy Choo flats
Necklace: Vintage, was my great-grandmothers. I love love love this necklace!!! One day I would love to recreate it with real stones. Hey, a girl can dream right??

To add some red to this post, as tomorrow IS Independence Day here in the states, I present last nights dinner:

Soooo yummy and sooooo easy. Sadly my children were NOT as enthusiastic as The Engineer and I were. I made them each a boiled egg and gave them a pudding cup (ick!). You know, as a reward for eating the above. (Yes, I resort to bribery at the dinner table, I have yet to meet a mother who doesn’t practice the same method from time to time!!!)

Any big plans for the 4th? We typically stay home as our home is situated on a hill at the back of the valley, thus enabling us to view all the fireworks from the comfort of our own home. My balcony is prime for this!! I suppose I should rustle up some food moment too!

Oh and my hair is still tinged blue-green. The Engineer thinks it’s “edgy” and “cool”. I tend to agree, however I have a wedding this weekend and must attempt to look halfway professional! *sigh*

Until next time,

It’s cold outside!

Woah, it was really pretty yesterday afternoon, and today? Starting to look more like Christmas! It’s overcast, the wind is howling, and there are menacing dark clouds hovering over the back of the valley! I adore weather like this.

And still? I’m hanging on to girly skirts!

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Banana Republic
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: Sandee Royalty
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag (not pictured): my black Kate Spade bag I carry often

And don’t forget, my giveaway ends tonight at midnight PST!

Good luck!

Until next time,

Thoughts, Links, & Sparkle

I just realized I didn’t post yesterday! I got caught up with a client of mine and spaced it! Add on my children having half schools days this week, and frankly, I feel a little crazy!

Oh, and the weather is changing! It’s cold, windy and rainy today! Two days ago I was complaining about how hot it was. Oops. Well, I’m not complaining about the icky weather, it is November, and I would prefer a proper winter of sorts! We might get a light dust of snow tomorrow night.

So, yesterday, what I wore:

Cardigan: Banana Republic, $10-range (I wear this often, I’m loving green right now)
Blouse: Ann Taylor, under $10
Pants: Banana Republic (the only pants I usually wear. I must find a backup!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin flats
Handbag: Kate Spade Maryann

Sorry about the bad quality photos. I take 95% of my photos with my phone, and I realize the quality isn’t that great. But I also blog from my phone. *le sigh* I am really trending towards an iPad in the near future!

My project yesterday:

And then what I wore today:

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Blouse: Kohls
Skirt: Custom Hartley skirt by Sandee Royalty
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Strassed Light Sapphire Christian Louboutins (I finished them!)
Handbag: Kate Spade

My finished shoes:

I adore sparkly shoes. I want a pair in every color! I know, I have a sparkly little problem. If you want your own pair, but are too scared to DIY? Go see Joey over at Redo My Shoe . He’s witty, talented, and I’m excited for the pair he’s working on for me!

One last thing. A friend of mine from bible study started a really neat blog, The Sociable Chef . She collects recipes from the 150+ ladies who bring food for our Thursday mornings. It’s a great resource for different new things to try! I gave her one of mine today, I’ll share it here:

Gluten-Free Egg Puff

15 large eggs (I use exlrg)
1c half & half
2c shredded cheese
One red bell pepper, diced

Mix all ingredients, making sure the eggs are scrambled well. Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.

Enjoy! I know it’s difficult to find an egg casserole without bread or some type of thickener. With so many gluten allergies these days, it’s always important to make sure we have something at the buffet for those who need it!

Okay, and I love the above dish! In fact, I made the kiddos their own little puffs this morning. I may or may not have snatched bites from each one. *grins*

Have a safe and warm weekend, wherever you are! Those readers in the northeast, my heart goes out to you. Stay safe.

Until next time,

It’s cooling down! I’m so excited to be able to add cardigans back into my wardrobe. It just makes me feel “finished”. Of course I’ve been in cold buildings all day too.

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Banana Republic
Belt: Kate Spade (from my Lawson skirt)
Skirt: Sandee Royalty Hartley Skirt
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Navy Simple 100
Handbag: Kate Spade Maryann

I’m very thrilled about fall as well, as our bible study starts back up, and we have a great study this year:

Y’all know I instagrammed this earlier. I’m excited to see how our group unfolds this fall.

Hope your weekend is fabulous! I’ve had this one off, but still pretty busy. I suppose I am just one of those people who have a hard time sitting still. I admit it, I enjoy being busy. It doesn’t give me time to reflect upon my health issues very much. I’m also trying to eat healthier, I’ve been cutting most sugar out (as much as I can anyway, a baker should taste her work for quality control ya know!), and cooking from scratch more.

Do you plan a weekly menu? Any special dishes you’d like to share? I have 4 hungry boys in my house!

Until next time,
