Seeing Stripes

After a whirlwind crazy adventure the past couple of days, I’m home this Friday and it’s back to the normal day-to-day life. Work, kids, work, the usual!

But I decided today to pull out my newest Kate Spade dress and enjoy pretending to be on a jet plane headed somewhere fabulous!

Hmm, perhaps I have a wee but of a Kate Spade problem!!

Of course I can help you with yours, it’s Friends & Family this weekend at Kate Spade!

You can even call your favorite store and place a charge send, it’s a $5 shipping fee. For those such as myself, that’s is very dangerous! Makes shopping too easy!!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Until next time,

Little Black Dress

Yesterday we went to Palm Springs for a birthday party. So of course while the kids went swimming with grandpa (because once you have kids, your parents really don’t want to see you anymore, they want your kids! You are just a “come with the package” kinda deal. Okay, maybe not, but moms out there, you know what I mean!!), we popped out for about an hour or so. I mean, The Shops at El Paseo are 10 minutes away.

Okay, so we really went to look at a car, which turned out to be Mis-advertised! But there was a Kate Spade store on our way back (kind of anyway), and this commenced me driving like a madwoman down 111! But, we made it!!

And the shop was OK. Not a huge selection, but my husband spotted a solid black dress. Now how he knew I didn’t have a solid black dress in my arsenal (when I couldn’t remember!!) is beyond me. But hey, we are at my favorite store and my husband is holding a dress. What’s a girl to do? Why, try it on of course! And it was perfect. I must admit I was so-so about it, as I had just coerced him a month ago into shoes and a cardigan. But much to my surprise, it came home with us.

Which then set off a massive frenzy between yesterday and today at the outlets (I may or may not have even called a friend who was headed home from Vegas). But that’s a story I will wait to tell until next month. I now have the most amazing surprise for my 2-year blog anniversary giveaway!

However, I did wear the dress today, along with the glittery belt I snagged at the outlet in Cabazon. I kind of want to wear it again tomorrow!!

Cardigan: Target (girls’ section)
Dress: Kate Spade Emma dress
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Kindle
Necklace: unknown brand
Handbag: Kate Spade (notice I was undecided, but in the end I went with the black)

And tonight I’m back to the macaron factory. I’m making salted caramel and chocolate orange. Mmmmmm. Another crazy week!

If you can, get the to a Kate Spade outlet! Fabulous deals! Or call your favorite outlet, they will do a charge send for a $5 shipping fee for up to 5 items. I can’t drive to Target and back for $5!!! I’m excited about the other items on their way to me, one was a total fluke!! I now intend to attempt to put myself on a shopping ban. Wish me luck, I need it.

Until next time,

Jules

Pastels & Sparkles

Today was another gorgeous day here in Southern California! I continue to be amazed by the sunny days. Of course the flip side is the drought that seems to be worsening….so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a little rain!

I wore my new strassed shoes this morning to church (glad I did too! Had to make a few minor repairs. And yes, I really need to start making my bed!!!!):

Cardigan: Banana Republic (off eBay)
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Crystal AB strass Christian Louboutin simple pumps
Handbag: Coach (3+ years old!)

And yesterday at Fashion Island, Kate Spade’s sale items were on sale! Additional 40% off!! Sooooo, after NOT buying a car, I convinced my husband that he was getting off easy with the two items I desperately wanted. There may have been some negotiating happening as to them being Valentine & Mother’s Day gifts. BUT, he caved fairly quickly and isn’t even holding them hostage!

Shoes, brand new, never even tried on! I’m soooooo excited about these, I’ve had them on my wish list since they came out. Pale pink glittery heels WITH a big bow?! Yes please!!!!

And then this cardigan, another wish list item.

I have a gorgeous pink shimmery ballgown I picked up a few months ago while thrifting that I think would be perfect with both pieces. And a darling Escada clutch I snagged secondhand! I’m thinking it will be perfect for a wedding this spring we have been invited too. I must admit I spent quite some time this afternoon just smelling the shoes. The magic of brand new leather shoes, well, I don’t know if there is anything like it! Kate Spade’s shoes have the same type of soft leather sole that Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik both use, yet the support on par with my beloved Christian Louboutin simple pumps.

Ahhhh, new shoes. They make everything brighter, yes?

I hope your weekend was filled with many fabulous adventures! I know for some it is a 3-day weekend, however in my house the adults go back to work tomorrow. I’m only working half the day, as the kids are home from school. It’s going to be another crazy week! I plan to keep up with my blog as much as possible though. Check out my Instagram for more photos: katespadegirlblog. I’m a bit of an Instagram addict!

Until next time,

Jules

What I want to wear today

20120326-072357.jpg
Alas, if I had my way this is what I would wear today!

With my black flats (I wear these everywhere)

20120326-072501.jpg

And perhaps this cardigan

20120326-072652.jpg

The dress came from the Banana Republic Outlet, $10 in May 2010. The shoes were an eBay purchase, right around $50, and the cardigan came from a local thrift for $3. I removed the hooks that were remaining (it was missing several) and washed out the spots!

I figure my cost per wear is pennies on these items, heck the shoes get so much wear, I’ve had them over a year, $20 flats from Payless typically only last me 3-4 months!

It does pay to splurge on shoes & handbags. And jewelry, but that is a whole other post!!

Until next time,

Jules
