One Skirt, Two Looks

It’s been super windy here, and so I’ve been relying on my stash of pencil skirts the past few days. Today I ended up changing, but kept the same skirt, just styling it different each time!

First outfit today:

  1. Sweater: Banana Repubic (but I found it secondhand at It’s a Wrap)
  2. Skirt: Vintage, thrifted
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Necklace & Bracelet: Target

I have about half a dozen vintage pencil skirts in black, grey and navy blue. I’ve slowly accumulated them over time…I really like to look for the “Academy Award” brand skirts, they are made soooo well and the fabric is perfect. A medium weight, perfect for Southern California weather. I often find them at various thrift and secondhand shops around West LA.

And to go out tonight:

  1. Cardigan: Ross (old, it’s held up beautifully though!!)
  2. Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet
  3. Skirt: Vintage, secondhand (I don’t even remember where)
  4. Belt: unknown. (It’s a Wrap find)
  5. Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
  6. Handbag: Kate Spade

Nearly everything in my second look was secondhand/Ebay/thrifted, with the exception of the blouse, which I picked up during one of Banana Republic’s crazy clearance sales at the outlet!

I know I wear a lot of Kate Spade, and TONS of dresses, but sometimes it’s good to mix it up again. I have so many clothes (the reality is I am a clothing collector. I don’t collect knick knacks, china, art, or anything like that. I like my art hanging in my closet, what can I say?), and some days it’s just so easy to throw on a great dress, some shoes, grab a cardigan and run out the door. That is EASY! It’s putting actual combinations together that takes time!!

Until next time,

Life Lately

Oh my, is it Monday already?! Eeks!!!

I didn’t take an outfit photo last Thursday, but I didn’t wear anything new and exciting, just spent my day baking. And more baking.

And a special delivery from Sugarfina

Mmmm, champagne gummy bears!!! And peach gummy hearts.

Friday I wore this:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Hope
Belt: Ribbon w/ a vintage brooch
Shoes: Kate Spade

Some cupcakes over the weekend:

I couldn’t find a mold I liked for the snowflakes, so I made my own!

I used some snowflake buttons I found at the craft store, and I keep food grade silicone on hand for impromptu mold making! So fun!

Yesterday was a migraine day, but I did manage to throw some cake balls together for a friend whom I ship too:

And today, I’m wearing this:

Cardigan: Ross
Blouse: Kohls
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Anthropologie
Shoes: Green Tourmaline Strassed Christian Louboutin flats

And so there you go. This morning I’m braving the dentist chair to have some fillings fixed. All that sugar I suppose!!

Until next time,

Monday Blues

Oh my, it was a windy blustery day today! In fact, it’s been a windy blustery weekend! Saturday I spent the day in San Diego with the ROTC kids. I didn’t bring anything exciting home, except a blister!

Why a blister? Well, I am breaking in a new pair of ice skates, something considerably harder in my 30’s than in my late teens!!

Two weekends in a row on the ice, which makes me quite happy. I plan on popping down to Palm Springs later this week and intend to skate at least once, if not twice (we shall see how my feet hold out!). I’m starting to feel more balanced on the new skates, and well, it really is an amazing workout!

Anyway. What I wore on Saturday to run around (yup, I totally repeated an outfit this week!!):

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Kate Spade (older style, I don’t remember what it is called)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

Yesterday to church I wore this:

Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
Belt: Kate Spade
Jewelry: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

And today, realizing I really do have a Kate Spade problem!!

Cardigan: Ross
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I also made my husband a pie yesterday, raspberry:

And we gave him a pile of movies! We’ve been having an Indiana Jones marathon ever since! Back to the Future is next. Love the classics.

Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend & the dad’s in your life enjoyed their day!

Until next time,

Hump Day

Until next time,

Super Bowl Sunday!

I must confess, I have no desire to watch the game this evening. None. In fact, I briefly pulled Facebook up and promptly closed it, all the “wars” going on over commercials, halftime show, who’s winning, bad calls, etc etc. I suppose it also helps that we don’t have cable tv! (Don’t worry, between our DVD collection, Amazon Prime streaming and Redbox rentals, I see more than my fair share of tv!!) We were invited to several parties, but as I am still recovering from what has now been almost 6 weeks of illness? I’ve spent my day at home in bed, in my PJs! (It’s quite blissful really!)

However yesterday I did tackle a project. You see we have this closet under our stairs, it’s about 6ft wide and 8-ish feet deep (and 6ft tall). It was packed to the gills with all my event stuff (linens, glassware, rentals, etc). Late last year my husband purchased new shelving for our garage and said he’d move all my stuff out there, so when I need one item, I’m not pulling out the entire closet for it. Yay! To give you an idea, this is about 1/3 of what was in that closet:

The room empty:

Putting in shelves and filling them:

And my favorite addition, putting my sewing table (that had formerly resided in my bedroom….which meant I never used it for a sewing table, as hauling all the sewing supplies upstairs was a task):

I’m also going to hang some pin boards, and probably a few framed Kate Spade prints. I now call the closet my “craft/panic/hiding room”.

And now I need to hunt down a proper chair for my bedroom + a cute something for my lamp, but until then, I swiped the chair I bought last year from the music room:

Because having it there will hopefully convince my husband we need a bigger chair for that corner. Of course as I super dislike furniture shopping, who knows how long it will actually take. Until then, it’s a great play to toss clothing.

What I wore on Friday:

Cardigan: Ross
Blouse: Banana Republic
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And yesterday, when we popped out to pick up science boards for school projects:

Cardigan: Ross
Skirt: French Connection (thrifted)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: no idea.

The necklace I wore yesterday is identical to the one in my giveaway!

Go, enter, it’s open to anyone anywhere! See post for rules.

The prizes: (plus whatever else I toss in)

Good luck!

Have a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday!

Until next time,

Bright and Cheery

It’s going to be another wonderful day here! I must admit, I feel a teensy bit guilty that most of the country is having hellacious weather, while ours is gorgeous!

Today I’m wearing this:

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Blouse: Banana Republic (secondhand)
Skirt: Anthropologie (from It’s a Wrap in Los Angeles)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: Kate Spade

Sadly I am spending my days in the office this week, it’s tax season, so I’m playing “accountant” for the next two weeks. Heaven help the numbers!!! But thank heavens for calculators!

Hope your week is smashing! I will enjoy the sunshine in the carpool lines this week!

Until next time,

It’s Thursday!

Another crazy week is nearly over, although my “week” doesn’t end this week until Sunday. But it should be fun! (Please note the sarcasm)

What I wore yesterday:

Cardigan: From Ross
Skirt: Claude Brown
Shoes: Strassed Jimmy Choo flats
Necklace: 1928

And today I’m going for bright and bold. Well, I got a new skirt I ordered in the mail and decided to wear it. I’m sure I’m not the only person in the world who wants to wear new clothing ASAP, right? My apologies for the slightly dark photos, it was still early when I left the house…

Cardigan: Ross (green version of the cream one I wore yesterday)
Blouse: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And I’m off and running! This morning is bible study, followed by helping someone pick out an engagement ring (squee!!!!!!), followed by 500 cake pops, 300 (ish) French Macarons and finishing up a 3-tier castle cake.

I know, I’m quite insane! May be time to bring in the interns! (I quite enjoy working alone, it’s a fatal flaw I have)

Have a lovely day!

Until next time,
