Fall Break

Yes, you read that right, fall break! Yesterday my kids started their two-week fall break. From what I understand there was quite the cheering going on at their school when that bell rang! Sadly (or perhaps not, as my ears aren’t ringing!!) I was not there to witness that event! I’ve been in Orange County since late Wednesday evening (as in, 11pm!) for a work thing.

But there are perks to my job, running errands in Orange County is way more fun than where we live! We don’t have a whole foods, and that means we don’t see these types of things:

Bacon caramels?! Really?! I bought my husband some.

Finding a new Kate Spade dress I am IN LOVE with, only to find out the smallest size is too big (this was pinned, I am SO sad!!! Hello eBay hunting!!)

Bon-Epi French Macarons:

A new (BRAND NEW! My first ever new pair) pair of Christian Louboutins found at Nordstrom Rack for under $100 (I’m still in shock!!):

And clothing recaps. I’ve been back on a dress kick, probably because it’s super easy and kind of mindless!

Yesterday I started in this:

And threw this on to go out to dinner last night with my husband (who came down for the weekend. Since I am not going home until middle of next week):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (oh why is it so hard to wear a brand new pair out?! I felt guilty!!!!)
Necklace & Bracelet: Ben Amun

Not sure how today is going to go, we seem to be moving slow! No solid plans, just waiting to see if I’m needed (hopefully not!) and working our way towards breakfast. Our hotel has amazing breakfast, mmmmm!

Until next time,

Fall Has Happened

Oh my! The past few days the weather has turned to, well, downright chilly!! I’m not complaining, I just suppose I wasn’t quite prepared for it!!

Anyway, some recaps of my weekend/past few days.

Today, Kate Spade is having a surprise sale! I ordered some gifts, nothing for myself. I think my order the previous weekend was enough for me! But there are some good deals on cute things! What I did order last week came Friday:

Loving my new case, and of course the mug is a must-have for my cake-baking self! The dress I had been stalking for quite some time. It has pockets!!!

Anyway. Always fun to acquire new things.

Last Friday was the schools fall festival. True to form, I simply could not resist joining in the costuming. However, I was unable to convince my husband he needed to go with me. What’s a princess to do?

Why turn him into a frog and pin the frog to the dress of course!!!

Okay, so I didn’t really do that, but I told everyone I did! It was so much fun, the little girls loved it! We also made lots of money selling my baked goods for ROTC!! (My 9th grader is in the program)

I actually whipped up about 160-ish French macarons (Larger ones!) and 250-ish cake pops. It’s official, I’m an overachiever mom. However, the leftovers went to many good causes in the past few days. (I’ve been leaving a trail of sprinkles all over Southern California!!)

Saturday was another crazy day as I delivered this masterpiece:

I love this client of mine! They always have the best cake ideas!! I did a HUGE pooh bear a couple of years ago for their son. Can’t wait for their next party!!

I failed to take outfit photos Saturday or Sunday. Sunday I spent in LA, went to church with a girlfriend, hit a street fair, and had a late lunch with another friend! (I adore Faigie, her son Benny of Team Benny is a childhood cancer survivor, and she is just an inspiring woman! Her blog touches me every time I read it!! I bedazzled a cap for her a while back) I also managed to hit up my favorite LA store, It’s a Wrap, and snagged some interesting goodies!

Like this apron from Desperate Housewives:

Isn’t it insane?! (Please excuse the mess in my closet! I’ve hardly been home the past couple of weeks) I have to take it in, but for $10, I couldn’t resist. I am tempted to make it into a skirt. It’s very well made!

Monday morning saw me back to the grind! I wore a gorgeous new dress gifted to me by Faigie (she also sells amazing clothing….she multi talented like myself, except even more so than I am!!)

Jacket: Target
Brooch: Vintage
Dress: Kay Unger
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Stockings: Calvin Klein

Yup, it’s cold, be prepared to see me rocking nylons for the next few months!!!! (I secretly love them. Okay, perhaps it isn’t really a secret! They just make your clothing fit better)

Today, for the last cross-country meet of the season:

Cardigan: Thrifted, $1
Top: Target
Skirt: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Strassed Christian Louboutim by redo my shoe
Stockings: Calvin Klein

And by far the best part of today….one of the seniors led the entire team in prayer. It was an awesome moment:

The team ran hard and strong today, even in the 50-degree weather with 5-10mph winds!

So, there ya go. I’m slowing down a bit for the next week or so, and I have a huge list of “catch up”. It’s been a crazy month, this October. Many joys, some devastation, but I am blessed in more ways than I can ever imagine!

Until next time,

So yeah, I suppose I will dazzle in the sun. (Wait, I hate the sun!!) However, I am headed to church this morning for bible study. This study is soul searching. Nehemiah by Kelly Minter. Wow, just wow. It does make me feel a tad too materialistic, but I don’t live beyond my means, plus I do quite a bit if charity work. But there is always more.

What are you up to today? After church I have presents to buy, I still need to wrap up the adorable baby present I put together for a gal on our hospitality team. Oops.

Until next time,

Snow Day

Yesterday was so much fun! A friend and I went into downtown Los Angeles to hit thrift stores, and pick up my new pink shoes. We got back late, and I crashed. This morning I woke up to this:

Snow! Of course it was all gone by noon, nevertheless the children enjoyed a wet cold time this morning! (They cancelled school here. Yes, east coasters go ahead and laugh at us SoCal people!!!)

But alas, I still had to work. First though, my outfit yesterday:

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Skirt: Ann Taylor (similar to the one I wore Monday, but different)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: not pictured, but I carried my neon pink tiny Kate Spade Crossbody.

We had a blast yesterday, and while I didn’t go overboard, I have officially broken my shopping ban for this month. I scored two skirts at a goodwill for $10, and then at the store It’s a Wrap (they have clothing from TV and movie sets), I got a blouse (wearing it today, it was NWT!), two skirts and some pieces for my daughter. The one skirt, it’s amazing. I can’t wait to style it, sadly it was too chilly today. I’m going to save it though!!

My shoes: (and the Kate Spade bag I ordered last Friday came last night!!)

I am in awe of these, Joey really is a talented artist!! I now look at the shoes I have Strassed and think “oh man, I could have done xyz!!”. Needless to say, he is amazing. Redo my shoe

And today, my outfit (I’m trying to get creative with photographs. I need a new mirror!)

Cardigan: Kohls
Blouse: It’s a Wrap (the designer tag was cut out, tags were still attached but the designer names cut out)
Skirt: Cartonner (I think?) thrifted for $5. It’s gorgeous, made in USA, and the lining is superb!!
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Such a crazy day! I’m sad to see the snow go so quickly, but it’s really a blessing as people out here really struggle driving in bad weather conditions. I have a big 4-wheel drive SUV, and I know how to drive it, but I’m not the normal driver on the road!

Happy Wednesday! Hard to believe the week is half over. I need to figure out weekend plans!

Until next time,

Black & White Monday

Squeee!!! I am super excited today, the custom shoes I commissioned? They are done! And I will be picking them up tomorrow!! *twirls*

Pink Shoes!

I had the pleasure of meeting Joey of Redo My Shoe late last month, he is as real in person as he is on the internet. I am headed into la tomorrow to vintage/thrift shop with a friend of mine, and will (hopefully!) be picking the above shoes up as well! I know I strass my own shoes, but it’s just not the same as having a pair done. Kind of like hair or a facial.

So today for lazing around (actually I’ve been organizing and tossing out junk today), I embraced the “trend” of black & white:

Cardigan: Red, TJMaxx (or Ross?)
Skirt: Basil & Maude, off eBay (this fabric is a lint magnet! Not fun really)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Not terribly exciting, as I said above, I don’t have much planned today. Tomorrow is such a big/long day I decided to lay low today in preparation. I have to always be careful not to overdo things.

Happy Monday! Any big plans this week?

Until next time,

Fashion District Bound!

Whew, what an exciting day today was! A girlfriend of mine and I set out early this morning for downtown LA, specifically to look at sparkly things! Along the way we stopped in Burbank at this lovely store, It’s a Wrap, where they sell items from movie & TV sets! I’ve been to the Hollywood location before.

I only bought two things, this Adrianna Papell dress ($8)

And this vintage poodle skirt ($4)

My girlfriend found a pair of Stuart Weitzman heels for $3.40!!! (The whole store was 20% or more off) They need new jewels on the toe, but we remedied that at the crystal shops in downtown LA.

I did find a few verrrry tempting items. One was too large (but a stunning DKNY skirt, black & gold brocade), and the other two skirts, well, I wasn’t willing to shell out their asking price. Which I feel was a tad high. But, defiantly a must-stop if you are in the Los Angeles area.

Here was my outfit today, all laid out last night:

Bold? Yes, but why not? Here’s it on:

Cardigan: Target, little girls’ section
Skirt: Banana Republic (summer ’12)
Shoes: Strassed Manolo Blahnik flats
Handbag: Kate Spade
Jewelry: Omega watch & vintage necklace

The shoes I actually ended up wearing:

As much as I adore my multi-colored Manolos, my feet refused to cooperate. (Naught feet!!) It worked out, as I love my Jimmy Choo flats for lots of walking.

After It’s a Wrap, we headed into downtown, and got to meet someone special, Joey from Redo My Shoe which was a real treat! He has an amazing personality, and is so real and down to earth. I felt an instant affinity for him in our emails, and I’m just so excited he IS all that and a bag of vegan veggies in person!

We of course picked up sparkly things (hello?!), Light Siam for a pair of crazy shoes I’m doing for my boss (these will be amazing, let me tell you!!!), and some trims to make bib necklaces:

I have to say though, the true highlight of my day (sorry Joey!!!!) was Freebirds World Burrito. I haven’t had one since being in Texas a few years back. My tummy is so happy, it was amazing.

Now off to play with my new “toys”!

Until next time,
