Holiday Weekend

Woot! Hello 3-day weekend! I’ve had kind of an interesting week, some major changes happening in my world and when I have things going on I tend to lose myself either in a pair of shoes or baking in the kitchen. This week it was baking! TONS of French Macarons!

Just a few of the many MANY dozens I made. There is something fulfilling about seeing them all lined up!

Yesterday I wore this:

  1. Blouse: Forever 21 (old)
  2. Skirt & Belt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade

And today:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Wrap Dress (circa 2010-2011 I believe? It’s an older one!)
  2. Shoes: Kate Spade (also older, they are a kitten heel)

Did you see that sale is an additional 25% off this weekend online? I have some gift cards, so I may pick up one or two smaller items, but I am limiting myself for the month of September, as I went a LITTLE overboard for the month of August. I have one more big order coming from Kate Spade next week as well. OOPS.

I really need to cull my closet a bit more. I started a “closet” on Instagram ( Right here ) to unload pieces that I no longer wear, use, or items I purchased for someone at the outlets, and then was never paid for them and often times forget to return them. I know holidays are coming and I do have a few NWT items. I still need to bite the bullet and get rid of dresses I know I will NEVER EVER wear, but keep for sentimental reasons. Sigh. I’m totally a fashion hoarder!

Until next time,

Jules

Weekend Review

Oh. My. Goodness. My weekend was bananas. Our weather has been changing and it has caused intense sinus pressure! Ugh. But rain and cooler weather is coming, so I consider it worth the frustration.

Some recent attire, starting with Friday:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Saturday, to deliver a cake & have a costco date with my husband:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Marielle (spring 2014, they redid this for the outlets and some still have it on their sale rack!)
  2. Belt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Sunday, for church:

  1. Blouse: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Skirt: Anthropologie
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade

And finally, today:

  1. Blouse: Anthropologie (but I picked up at a thrift store for $1!)
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Skirt: Nordstrom Rack, $12
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And the beautiful cake I delivered on Saturday:

It turned out SO GORGEOUS!!!! And yes, those are sugar flowers!

Until next time,

Jules

Madison Avenue Collection

Oh my….it’s official, I am on a shopping ban. Today my husband and I are in Las Vegas for a yearly shindig we attend, and of course we had to go visit the new (well, I saw “new” because it opened last summer and this was my first trip to it) outlet at the Las Vegas North Outlets.

And found this dress, which is a Madison Avenue piece….one I actually tried on a couple of weeks ago in California, but the smallest size was WAY too big. There it was, in my size, marked down, with additional 50%, and then I acquired a coupon for an additional 10% off. And so….I sweet talked my husband into it, and I picked up the shoes to match (I recently sold some pieces, which more than covered the expense of the shoes!):

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Madison Avenue Collection (several outlets have this dress in various sizes…and you know they ship for $5!)
  2. Shoes: Kate Spade (also available in black various places online)
  3. Necklace: Kate Spade (outlet exclusive from last year)

I neglected to snap any photos of the actual store…it was quite possibly the largest outlet I’ve been to, but I was a little disappointed by the selection. They had quite a bit of pieces from the regular line, I just happen to already own it. They even had some Blazers and cardigans from the Capri collection a year ago! I always recommend making friends with gals at outlets, get on their mailing list, get on their email list. You can hunt for that dream piece at a manageable price, if you are patient, and are willing to wait/take a gamble. I’ve missed out on things here and there, but eventually, it will pop up somewhere!!!

This is what I wore for the car trip up here, and to go shopping:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade (older piece…I was so excited to find this, also in my size! That’s always a magical moment)
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And for fun….me in the car with all my pillows (I slept quite a bit!)

My sunglasses, while prescription, are Kate Spade (Livia, available on the website!), and my necklace and earrings are older pieces that are real. I actually cannot wear costume earrings, so I don’t always have amazing earrings to go with various statement necklaces! However this pair, my diamond studs, or simple pearls pretty much go with anything!

So, with the acquisition of my first Madison Avenue dress….I really think the construction and the quality is beautiful. It reminds me of the older pieces (3-4 years ago), but just a little more top notch. I do have to say I feel it runs a tad large…the dress I am wearing (both pictures today actually!) is a 00, and I probably have about a half inch of excess fabric. So with a fit and flare Madison Avenue piece, I would not size up. I couldn’t tell you about any of the sheath dresses….I didn’t try any of them on.

I’m hoping the wind is minimal up here in Vegas tomorrow, I have the cutest outfit planned!! *crosses fingers*

Until next time,

Jules

Wedding Planning

Today I ran down to Redlands to view a venue with one of my summer brides. I’m so excited about it! (Although I didn’t take any photos!!) I figured I should “look” the part, right?

  1. Cardigan: American Eagle (thrifted)
  2. Skirt: Vintage
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Necklace: Kenneth Jay Lane

I had forgotten about this cardigan! And other than my handbag (which wasn’t pictured), I wore something other than Kate Spade! It does happen from time to time!!

Until next time,

Jules

Mid-Week Doldrums

I have been running so many directions the past few days, blogging just wasn’t on the radar! That said, some outfit recaps!

Saturday I went to Disneyland, I wore my Kate Spade Corley dress. I didn’t get a full shot, but I got this one:

Shoes: Light Siam Strassed Jimmy Choo flats

Sunday, I wore this to church:

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian (holiday 2012)
Shoes: Kate Spade (off eBay)
Necklace & Bracelet: both Ben-Amun

Monday. This dress I found on eBay a couple of weeks ago for a super steal. It WAS ironed, but linen in dry weather lasts about 15 seconds before it wrinkles!

Mmmm. I am torn between the chicken pie and the apple pie. Savory vs Sweet. Luckily there was enough for leftovers tonight! (Yay!!)

Hope your week is going grand!

Good Friday

Wow, it doesn’t feel like Easter weekend! I imagine it is because my husband and I packed up and are headed to Northern California for a wedding. Yes, we left the kids behind! I feel guilty as a mom, but my parents have them, and I know my kids are most likely (okay, totally likely!!) to be more excited about grandma & grandpa than mom & dad!!

That said, I’m glad we didn’t drag them, I did all the desserts for this wedding and the car is precariously packed, in hopes the French Macarons all survive the 6+ hour trip!!

My travel ensemble:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrift
Shoes: Kate Spade

And this is why I haven’t been posting this week, I have become a cookie. Or at least it feels like it!!! French Macarons, iced sugar cookies, sugar cookies, cake balls, a small cake & some other cookies. Some teaser photos:

I’m excited to set it all up tomorrow and share photos! I also am finally going to wear the sequin Kate Spade Emma dress, eeks!!! I probably won’t post again until Sunday, I have terrible cell service where we will be. But on Sunday my husband and I are headed to Santa Cruz to celebrate his birthday, and just have some time away with nowhere to be!! I found an adorable boutique hotel and we will hit the boardwalk….it’ll be a first for both of us! I’ll take it, it’s not always easy to find things new to “us”, one of the hazards of a second marriage! But I wouldn’t change a thing in my life, the good OR the bad.

Because life is that, an experience!!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend, and those out on the road, travel safe! And travel colorfully!

Until next time,

Jules

Saturday

Saturday can go three ways in my house, either I’m working, we are cleaning/yard work, or we do NOTHING.

Sadly today was a house/yard work day. I spent the morning vacuuming out my SUV, something that hadn’t been done in months. I expected to find hundreds of tiny crystals from all my shoes. Imagine my surprise when this was the sum of my sparkly “loot”

20140308-165120.jpg

Yup, 4 measly crystals! Believe me, I checked closely before vacuuming, merely because I was curious. In fact only two of those were found in the front of the car, where I sit, the other two found in the back where my daughter sits! I daresay that I should be proud, as it must mean I am doing something right with my shoes!

Anyway, I have spent the rest of the day with the piles of laundry (I provided linens for a party last night), and overseeing my daughter in her housecleaning “duties”. (She chose to clean bathrooms and sweep floors over mowing lawns. I don’t blame her, it was hot today!) We did sneak out briefly late this afternoon to run a quick errand, and so I got dressed:
