Happy July! The month where we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy year round as Americans. How are you planning on spending your 4th of July? My husband and I are in the unique position of being kid-free this year (WHAT?!), and so we are skipping out on anything traditional and I am dragging him to Disneyland for an adult day of adventure. (Poor man, he is a saint) Until then, I still have to be a responsible adult, as I have a wedding looming + several cake orders to prep for before we go!

Today I wore this:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  4. Necklace: thrifted pearls with a vintage brooch

Speaking of wedding prep….I spent last night sorting candy for the candy bar:

Sigh. I know. I have issues. If only my overflowing closet looked as tidy as these little piles.

Until next time,

Oh Monday, we meet again. But first, to recap our adventures yesterday.

We live up “the hill” so to speak. To go to LA or Disney, Orange County, etc, it’s a drive through a mountain pass. Normally, not a big deal. But some genius here in California decided “Let’s redo the Cajon Pass!”. Gee, thanks moron! It’s been a year and a half now of utter nightmares! But we decided to approach it with gusto and make the best of it. Going down was fine and dandy. However, coming back up?! Traffic was backed up for MILES. (We are talking probably 10-ish)  So we off-road it! Did we save time? I don’t know. But it sure was fun!!!! I didn’t get any photos (just some video), but the kids had a BLAST. It was also fun to see the route people used to take, insane!!

My outfit….we went to a fancy lunch/dinner to celebrate our 5th anniversary (this was with the kids…us as a family!)

And the funny photo our oldest took of us! (Also before I took all my jewelry off…that necklace is heavy!)

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  3. Handbag: Kate Spade
  4. Big necklace: Kate Spade

I didn’t take many photos….I think sometimes the memories are enough. The kids are already planning the next “anniversary”, so the whole “celebrate as a family” was a really good idea. Now to figure out when my husband and I can get away!!

Today I threw on an old favorite….the pineapples just make me happy, and I needed it today! I’m pretty sore….some is self inflicted, that whole “rest and be still” is very difficult for me!

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Thrifted

Hope your weekend was fabulous! It’s going to be a busy week…not sure if I’ll keep up with blogging or not. Going to try!

Until next time,

Sunday Whimsy

How do I even describe what I’m wearing today? Glitter, pink, bows, pearls, owls, I mean, where does that even take your mind!! Well, here’s the photos, and while it sounds completely insane, it totally worked. Well, in MY mind. I do not claim to be anything close to a fashion guru, expert, or even remotely “cutting edge”. Just a gal who likes to dress for the imaginary ball.

Yes, I even ventured outside for some photos! Always nice to have the husband home and charming him into shooting a picture or two.

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Emma in Blush
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag: Kate Spade (aka “Winky”)
Necklace: unknown, cheapie from Burlington

I can’t believe I waffled on buying Winky. What was I thinking? He is fabulous. So whimsical and fun. Not to mention he has gold, silver AND rose gold accents, which means I can mix metal colours! (Which I do anyway)

One last shot, from Instagram this morning, okay, two, the cardigan I had planned on wearing, but wore my hair loose so switched to the one I ended up wearing. My hair catches in the neck detail.

Have a wonderful Sunday! I’m off and running, have to prepare for the week and get my eldest child prepared to leave for AFJROTC camp tomorrow. Poor kid has no idea. I’m excited for him, it’ll be a good (yet painful!) experience!

Until next time,

Thursday is always an odd day for me. The kids have early release at school, plus I have bible study, and sometimes also end up going to work. Today was no exception, well, except work was at my house because I’m baking like a madwoman still!

But I decided to pull out some sparkle this morning:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Kate Spade
Bag: Kate Spade
Necklace: unknown

Of course in addition to all the macarons this week, I have a small cake to delivery tomorrow. Some teasers:

Zebra, shimmery glittery pink AND hidden mickeys?! Yes please!! Can’t wait to throw it all together. I know the birthday girl is going to be thrilled!

In addition to the dress sale I have going on, stay tuned for my 2-year blog anniversary giveaway!! I just received the last piece of my “puzzle” today and I am SO excited to share this!! Especially as it’s things chosen by me.

Until next time,

Week in Review

Woah, I just realized I haven’t posted since Monday!

A recap of the past few days….it’s been a busy busy week!

Blouse: Unknown from It’s a Wrap in Hollywood
Skirt: from It’s a Wrap in Hollywood
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Montana strass Christian Louboutin Simples
Handbag: Kate Spade, off eBay
Necklace: Juicy Couture

It’s a wrap is this awesome store in LA, they sell clothing from movie sets! I have quite a few items from there. They tag their clothing with what TV show/movie/reality show they are from. Right now they have TONS of costumes from Dancing with the Stars, albeit terribly overpriced. It’s fun to take friends there and see what we come up with. I’d say the pricing is somewhere between a thrift store and a consignment shop, and pricing also seems to depend on the set the piece came from. It’s worth a look, but I recommend allowing at least an hour to “dig”. I rarely walk away empty handed.

Wednesday, I took my daughter ice skating (something I did on a whole other level over a decade ago!), it’s always fun to take a spin and then realize how old I have gotten!! My outfits from before skating (yes I changed!), including my falling off the skirt wagon:

Dress: Target
Shoes: Siam AB Strassed Nina Jellies

Cardigan: Forever 21
Blouse: Old Navy
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Siam AB Strassed Nina Jellies
Handbag: Kate Spade

Some photos from the ice rink, including one of my father, who hold the “Pot Bellied Pops” Title (back in the 90’s we added that category to our HUGE summer competition for some comic relief. My dad won the last year they had the event. I dressed him, picked his music and choreographed his program. It was fairly epic. I’m hoping the video is hiding somewhere still!!!). On another note, my daughter is wearing my first competition dress! Of course she wanted hot pink tights, but still. So adorable. As for me, I can still wear my outfits from 14 years ago (and skates!!!) but have invested in what I feel is appropriate for a mom to wear: black leotard, black skirt, and black tights! Not to mention, the only pair of boots in my closet!!

I have to say, it’s surreal to go back to the rink I used to train at as an adult. I miss skating terribly, but my arthritis and bad knees prevent me from going too often. I do think I will try and go every few weeks, it is such a good workout!!!

Thursday, I threw on a dress for my sons AFROTC award ceremony, but tossed a skirt on after we got home, to keep up with wearing a different skirt every day!

Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Montana strass Christian Louboutin

However I redeemed myself by changing when we got home into this:

Top: Kohls
Skirt: Olilly

And yesterday I knocked two skirts out of the lineup!

First, to go into the office:

Top: Kohls
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Violet strass Nina Jellies

And lastly, last night was date night. So in true moi fashion, I got all dolled up!

Blouse: Lauren Conrad for Kohls
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Saks Fifth Ave (vintage) with red petticoat underneath
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: (not pictured) Hermes Birkin
Jewels: necklace:vintage, bracelet:banana republic, earrings:diamond & pearl studs, rings:engagement and right hand diamond rings

Whew. If you made it this far, well, I hope you enjoyed my week (almost) in review along with my mindless drivel. I have realized however, I will not be able to complete my “30 skirts in 30 days” challenge, simply because we are leaving in a week for a 9-day road trip, and being fashionable is doable, but I have limited space in my luggage, so I shall have to repeat and pack items than can be multi-use. But, until we leave, I’m sticking to it! I even have the skirts (and dresses now!) separated in my closet.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,

Thursday Blues

I have been so busy this week that I’ve not taken the time to take a photograph of any outfit, much less write something! I have quite a few last minute orders, and have been baking baking baking all week. And recovering from a decision I made to do some light workouts, just to tone up with summer coming. I didn’t realize how out of shape I am! Whoops!

Anyway, my outfit today, feeling rather blue, with all the events going on in our country:

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Dress: Calvin Klein
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Hermes

I added a brooch to my pearls for some fun. I was costuming the high school girls last night for their play this weekend, and I attached lots of brooches to necklaces!! It’s something different anyway.

My heart goes out to those in Boston as well as the tiny town of West, Texas. Such a week of tragedy!!

Until next time,

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Dress: Alannah Hill
Brooch: Vintage, off eBay
Necklace: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I wore “my” Omega watch and some diamond pave earrings.

My necklace & shoes:

And the lovely table from bible study this morning, which I must admit, overwhelmed even me!

Lots of treats and goodies! I’m on a sugar overload by this point. More to come this evening for the kiddos, should be fun to surprise them!

Hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day, may you be single or part of a couple!

Until next time,
