Lucky Belle

Today I took Belle out on her first adventure. You know, initially I wasn’t going to buy her, and then I wasn’t sure if I was going to KEEP her. But alas, another novelty bag sucks me in!!

I had planned to go get Chinese food for lunch, but ended up on the other side of town. However I went home and made myself a plate of spicy pan-fried noodles:

So yummy. I always regret it a bit later (they are HOT. The sauce is a sesame garlic with chili paste & hot mustard!), but it’s totally worth it. I could live off noodles! And bread. Oh and any carb-like substance!!

My outfit:

  1. Blouse: Nanette Lepore
  2. Skirt: Escada (thrifted, I’ve had this piece for 6+ years! My sister found it for about $6)
  3. Belt: thrifted
  4. Shoes: Coach, I added Siam crystals to the pointed part, the back is glitter.
  5. Necklace & bracelet: Kate Spade
  6. Watch: Omega (my husbands, but I’ve essentially stolen it.)
  7. Handbag: Kate Spade, outlet exclusive from about a month ago. These sold out SO fast.

Tomorrow I start in on a HUGE cake project…sugar flowers anyone? I’m excited for this one, I don’t often get to make sugar flowers!

Until next time,

PS: Eugene is doing well, he says hello. Him and Lady are happily engaged. (He moves fast!)

Happy Mother’s Day!

To all the Mothers out there, I hope you have had a fabulous day. I know our “job” is one of the most thankless in the world, but we are what makes the world go round! To my mommy, I love you!!!

Some quick outfit recaps, as I continue on my “dress a day in May” journey. I think at this point I am going for a different dress a day, but that will depend on our weather, as we have been having brutal winds where I live. Which limits my dress selection, as I personally prefer to avoid flashing people.

Friday, I did end up changing to go to the tea with my 2nd grader. What I wore:

Dress: David’s Bridal ($4 @ Goodwill)
Brooch: Vintage, off eBay (was around $3-$4)
Shoes: Kate Spade (off Fifth outlet, $67 on sale)

I didn’t have a handbag, I shoved my coin purse & keys in my pockets! (Yes, this dress has pockets!!!)

Yesterday we had to pop out and run some errands, and I got creative with a dress that is a little too low cut now that I have a teenage boy (and he had a friend over as well!!), adding in a black lace tank top to “raise” the neckline. I figure I should step lightly when around the high school boys, especially as I’ve been tagged by hall monitors AS a student “out of dress code”. (Very flattering, let me tell you!) my oldest is not my biological child, and I’m not technically old enough for him to be “mine”, but he is MINE. (Fierce momma bear moment!!!). A little useless information for y’all.

My outfit(which survived the wind!)

Cardigan: Kate Spade (off eBay, under $50)
Dress: Nanette Lepore (also off eBay, don’t remember the price, it’s been 3+ years)
Brooch: unsure (I think I bought it in a lot of Jewlery? But I don’t really remember)
Shoes: Light Siam Strassed Jimmy Choo flats (diy)

And for today, again a “wind-proof” dress.

Cardigan: Banana Republic Outlet (holiday 2013, under $15)
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian (my husband bought this for Valentine’s Day 2013, off a surprise sale)
Shoes: Montana Strass Christian Louboutin heels (diy. Heels were $60 off eBay, and I Strassed them myself)

On another note, my daughter has been taking notes! She’s been wearing pretty dresses AND being aware of the howling winds we have been having. I’m loving that she is growing into her own, and choosing to dress somewhat modestly, as the 9-10 year olds around her do not. Such a blessing she is! Now if I can get my boys to realize a CLEAN shirt is important? I will have won the war. (Said VERY tongue in cheek. I’m laughing at my silliness!)

Happy Mother’s Day y’all!

Until next time,

Black & White

I’m on a roll this morning! Up, dressed, and ready with time to spare! Which means I can share my outfit today in “real time”, vs later. Just to make sure my readers know, I don’t dress for photos to put on my blog, what I post is what I am actually wearing or did wear. All day (well, usually). I suppose I’m just crazy like that.

And yes, I do bake in heels. And often forget to put an apron on. My dry cleaner loves me those weeks. (Granted I do as much of my laundry as possible, but ironing and starching, well, ugh!)

So, anyway, today I’m wearing this to meet with a friend of mine for breakfast and come home and bake two super fun cakes:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (eBay)
Blouse: Nanette Lepore (eBay)
Skirt: Ann Taylor (thrift)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Kate Spade (gift)

I’m skipping on any fabulous jewelery today, my neck has been bothering me, and it all comes off once I end up in the kitchen anyway.

Don’t forget to enter to win a Kate Spade bag in celebration of my two-year blog-anniversary! I daresay I should be handing out something more fabulous, but alas, at least it’s all new. *winks*

And repost this photo on Instagram, tag me: katespadegirlblog and hashtag katespadegirlgiveaway

Good luck!

Until next time,

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Confessions of a Shoe Addict

Today was a shoe addict kinda day. I picked out my outfit quickly, in fact I laid it out last night, as I had snagged an adorable skirt at goodwill yesterday and wanted to wear it.

But then I had to pick shoes. So many possibilities!!! Here’s 3 I narrowed it down to (and the green flats I will explain later)

So, Strassed Manolo Blahniks, or the Christian Louboutin heels? The plain green flats were my choice for the outing to the cross country meet this afternoon, so you know. I’ve already made the mistake of wearing 3″ Strassed Louboutin heels in the dirt.

And the verdict?

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: Alfani, Thrifted
Shoes, Grey Patent Christian Louboutin Simples (I adore these shoes, they are seriously SO comfortable!!!)
Necklace: Vintage (was my great-grandmothers)

But I couldn’t resist having some fun:

I really really really loved this ensemble. The colours are a little wild, but I felt it worked. Therefore, I rocked it and none was the wiser that I threw together like a million contrasting colour/pattern/textures and it really didn’t match. But isn’t that fashion? Making the unthinkable look awesome. I received many compliments, as well as “I would have never put that together, but I love it on you”. My response is always this:

“You can wear ANYTHING, as long as you stand tall and carry yourself as if you are the most fabulous person ever”. It’s perception people, perception!!!

One last thing to share, two photos from the stunning location of my older kids’ cross country meet this afternoon. I sat outside in awe of the beauty around me!!

Hopefully all the birthday items I ordered will arrive soon! Although I have been seriously remiss in sharing new acquisitions!!!

Until next time,

April Fools Day

First off, any good pranks today? I half had my oldest child convinced he had school today, a final, and that he was late! Very funny. Teenage boys, they are an interesting lot.

Second, some outfit recaps! This was Saturday:

Cardigan: Target
Camisole: Felina
Tank top: Gap (ages old!)
Skirt: Nanette Lepore
Shoes: Violet & Violet AB strass Christian Louboutin flats (done by moi)
Handbag: Coach
Necklace: my knockoff who knows where it’s from but it wishes it was VCA enamel necklace.

And today, although I’ve since shed my shoes and Miss Beatrice is back in rotation, but tucked away somewhere and frankly, I’m too tired to hunt her down:

Cardigan: Old Navy
Dress: Alannah Hill

And for the fun part! I enlisted an old friend to help me with my giveaway drawing:

My first designer item ever, Christian Dior Barbie! (Although my daughter coloured her hair with a pink market once upon a time. It gives her flair!)

She then grabbed a friend for an impromptu photo shoot:

So there you have it. Hayley and Jayna Rae, contact me to claim your prize! Congratulations!

Happy April Fools Day!

Now off to nurse my back, I pulled a muscle or something yesterday. Oops.

Until next time,

Wednesday Indecisiveness & Late Night Philosophy

Today I had the most terrible case of indecisiveness when it came to putting proper clothing on. I daresay it is the lingering effects of being slightly ill. However I pulled it together, as I had errands to run after my morning macaron party.

This is what I first had on:

Cardigan: off eBay (Australian brand)
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Loubouin Simples

I’m on such a navy & blue kick these days! No idea why, I don’t even own a navy handbag (may have to remedy that, and soon). Emerald green is another favorite of mine recently. Perhaps I am just learning to love colour.

What I ended up wearing today:

Cardigan: Old Navy (I have these in 3 colours and duplicates of each colour.)
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Camisole: Felina (also worn in my initial pairing)
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Miss Beatrice (Hermes Birkin)

I have realized lately I have been relying very heavily on my Christian Louboutin shoes. I fear my “others” in my closet are most likely feeling neglected and angry. Okay, maybe not as they are just shoes, but I really should try to wear my other shoes. It’s just hard, my Christian Louboutin flats and heels are just so comfortable. Really, like butter on my feet. In fact I’ve recently begun unloading on eBay some unworn shoes and clothing. In my recent closet reorganization I came to the realization that I either need an entire room for my “closet” space, or it’s time to scale back.

I’ve chosen at this point in my life to scale back. It’s hard, yes, but in the long run I think I will be more peaceful when it comes to dressing. I am ashamed to say I counted my cardigans this afternoon. Lets just say it’s not quite into 3-digit numbers, but it is close.

And my newest acquisition, Miss Beatrice. Oh my is she lovely. Excessive, outrageous, and one of 3 items in my fashion “bucket list”. The other two are: Chanel Bag & Burberry Trench. Specifically a pink Chanel bag with a linked heart strap. I saw it watching that show, The OC way back when. One of the girls carried it, and I’ve wanted one ever since!! The Burberry trench, well, it seems like something amazing. Not that I even wear the gorgeous trench coat I already own, but there you go. I probably will end up scratching it off the list eventually.

But acquiring Miss Beatrice has given me pause on “how much stuff do I really need?!”, and I’ve been working on that. I often purchase pieces to resell and then never get them listed. Not this past week!!! I’ve done rather well, netting over $750 in the span of 8 days. It’s encouraged me to keep listing and selling, although I need to set myself a goal, as I do much better with a goal in front of me! Perhaps if I keep it up finding that lovely Chanel bag will be a possibility! We shall see. I have only purchased one thing with my “earnings”, some crystals for a project I have planned for a charity event. Super excited!

So, anyway, it’s been a long day and I am going to turn in. Excited for tomorrow, we have a lovely day out planned with dear friends and our masses of children! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial I posted earlier, as well as my very random late-night musings above.

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! It ends Sunday at midnight!!

Giveaway Here!

It’s open to all countries, and I have surprises set aside for each prize that I will not reveal until I package to ship. Needless to say, I’m excited to gift something fun and special to two of my readers!

Until next time,
