Week in Review

Well, another week has passed and I realize “omgineedtoblog!!!!”. Whoops! My kids have been off on adventures with their grandparents, and The Engineer and I have been enjoying quiet evenings at home.

Right. Sort of anyway! I’ve been working a lot this week, so it’s been a little crazy!

Some outfit recaps:

Other adventures this week include (but not limited to!)

A trip to Bottega Louie with a friend I hadn’t seen in over 15 years! We had lunch:

Then desserts:

I turned my house into downtown LA:

Okay, so I didn’t truly buy out the fabric district/old costume warehouse or anything. I keep acquiring these things. People call me when they need to unload things. And me, being the secret hoarder that I am, is happy to oblige. On the bright side, I did not buy excess items for my self in LA this past week! In fact, I’ve been quite good lately.

Well, kind of. But it’s still in the mail so I am in denial.

I also made tacos & creme brûlée this past week for dinner/dessert one night while having a Tom Cruise movie marathon night:

And lastly for this post, I made macarons last night, because you know, the pile I bought at Bottega Louie wasn’t enough!

So, happy October! I’m making this whole month a fun celebration in honor of me being an October baby. Of course I already have my present, but I imagine I shall fine something to buy myself for moi. You know, something small, er shoe-ish.

Have a lovely weekend!

Until next time,

Jules

Parade Day

This morning it became official, I am one of those moms. The one who drives teenagers all over town and wait for them to finish their event.

Today it was a local parade, and I also took a spare teen (who has an insane love of history & film, I really do enjoy teenagers!), and well, planted myself at the end of the route to wait them.

Of course I did it in my usual style. I had some strange interactions with other parents, but hey, I’m not giving up my sparkles people!!!

My outfit:

20130921-152223.jpg

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Miu Miu
Necklace: Kate Spade + Unknown (thanks mom!)

Of course I left my hat at home (never fear, I needed something to buy anyway!), and have since realized I need a fold up chair for these events.

I’m quite the unprepared ROTC mom! (I don’t say soccer because no one plays soccer, YET.) I even neglected to bring a book! Yet another thing to buy:

20130921-152435.jpg

Hey, it was on a clearance pile, and surprisingly, quite good so far. I’m halfway through it. I see a new series to read! (I’m a fast reader) I’m normally not one for vampires and such, but it’s very well written.

The ROTC formation:

And lastly, as I posted last night I finally got a new phone yesterday. It’s pretty awesome. I jumped from an iPhone 4 to a 5s, and I am LOVING the photo clarity! The whole camera aspect is just awesome. And Siri. Except today. Siri let me down, as evidenced by this screen shot:

20130921-152718.jpg

We may have issues. But then again talking computers and I never seem to get along anyway! (I may or may not be prone to scream at my navigation system. It’s possible)

Have a lovely weekend! I’ll be instagramming tomorrow my last Disneyland trip for a while, I am excited to get pictures with the new upgraded phone!

Until next time,

Jules

Lights and Dirt

Well, as I’m outside “babysitting” my car’s battery, and The Engineers tools required to change a simple blinker light in my car, I realize I have yet to blog today! Lexus needs to simplify changing a light!

You see, we are supposed to be out of town today. But I’ve not been feeling well, and trying to corral 4 children at an amusement park, even with The Engineer, it’s just not going to happen. Luckily we hadn’t told the children (for this very reason!), so they were none te wiser.

Last night we took them bowling (I sat at put crystals on shoes while they all bowled. My lovely arthritis truly wants to flare, so throwing a 9-lb ball is probably a bad idea!). Today we went and played mini golf (under black lights! Sadly no photographs, iPhone refused to cooperate! Which was a bummer, as my engagement ring center stone has strong blue florescence, and it glowed beautifully the whole time!), and then we played laser tag. I won laser tag with a whooping 6,200 points, The Engineer and I played against all 4 children. Our combined score was 10,200, to 700-ish. We killed them! So much fun.

So anyway, some very strange outfit shots today!

Woah, is that moi? My hair is super blonde right now, something I didn’t realize until I saw these!

The Rundown:
Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren (prescription)
Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet
Shorts: Kate Spade
Shoes: Miu Miu

I actually wore my strassed Jimmy Choo flats out this morning. But now that I’m “working” outside, I grabbed what was by the door. A very dirty pair of Miu Mius I wore to Big Bear last week!

And for fun, what I’ve been working on. Strassed Manolos!

20120718-181604.jpg

Doesn’t it look like the old lights that the casinos in Las Vegas had? Like way back in the day.

Anyway. Don’t forget, follow me on Instagram! Katespadegirlblog

Until next time,

No Sparkle!

Whoops, I had forgotten to post today! I wore nothing sparkly today, an extremely rare event! But I was walking a site for an event in the mountains, so appropriate footwear was required. Of course, I still didn’t wear appropriate footwear!

20120712-193645.jpg

The Rundown:
Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet
Skirt: JCrew (Also worn this past Monday)
Belt: Old Navy, I think (it’s old, like 8yrs)
Shoes: Miu Miu
Handbag: Yellow Kate Spade Maryann

On another note, I now have a new wooden stick. Very excited about it. I’m working on a church project, I will share pictures next month. I’m on the hunt for an appropriate safari-ish costume too. Hrm.

And, I started a new project yesterday! They started out like this

20120712-193947.jpg

And now look like this

20120712-194005.jpg

I picked them up super cheap (a steal really!), and have enough crystals left over from the pale blue heels I did, so I’m experimenting. Painting and strassing over pony hair. I must be insane.

I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Excited about these. NOT as excited about the ones that I’m having Joey over at Redo My Shoe do though!!

Until next time,

Jules

What I’m Wearing

Since I blew my proposed ban, I might as well start wearing the summery items I purchased!

20120703-110502.jpg

The Rundown:
Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet, $6.99
Skirt: Kate Spade, off eBay
Shoes: Miu Miu
Handbag: Bally (swapped for this!)

We also went and picked up more of this

20120703-150347.jpg

Mmmm, salt water taffy!

And then a trip to the library, they have a summer reading program, this yet they are giving away a kindle fire! Which I already have one, but my daughter would love one. She is such an avid reader.

20120703-150457.jpg

I ❤ my instantaneous photos! Find me on there, katespadegirlblog (I know, so original!)

Off to tackle my pile of books. And maybe eat more taffy.

Until next time,

Jules

What I’m Wearing

Whoops, realized I hadn’t posted yet today!!

It’s warm this afternoon, but I did start the day off with a cardigan!

20120514-154810.jpg

The Rundown
Cardigan: Old Navy (I have this cardigan in cream & black as well)
Knit Top: Alannah Hill, off eBay
Skirt: H&M (I think this was thrifted?)
Shoes: Miu Miu
Handbag: Kate Spade

How is your Monday? I have a busy week ahead, so I’ll be hard pressed to do more than post daily outfits.

Have a wonderful week!

Until next time,

Jules

What I’m Wearing

I was dragging this morning! We stayed until California Adventure closed at 8pm last night, then ran through the HUGE Disney store, and got home just after 10pm. Lots of walking yesterday, but my feet do not hurt! I’ll have to post about our adventures! (another post)

My thrown together look today

20120510-150400.jpg

The Rundown:
Cardigan: Tracy Reese
Blouse: Lauren Conrad for Kohls
Skirt: Escada
Shoes: Miu Miu
Handbag: Kate Spade

Last time I wore this ensemble, I had some chunky beads and layered necklaces. Due to the slight sunburn from yesterday, I didn’t torture myself!

My bag

20120510-150559.jpg

And a peek into my current project! (what you see took about an hour)

20120510-150641.jpg

I am so so so so excited to finish these shoes. But I can already tell you, it’s going to be a painful tedious process!!! I’ll do a details post at some point.

Happy Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday! (yay!!!) I am laying low this weekend, I’ve delivered all my orders and I’m going to enjoy mother’s day. With sleep. And glueing crystals on shoes.

Until next time,

Jules
