Let Them Eat Cake….

Chocolate peanut butter cake

Kate Spade Cake:

Sigh. It’s even larger than I anticipated, which is awesome, as you could fit a small bottle of water in this “cake”! I expect it will mainly be a display piece in my house, but I’ll have to take it out at some point! As a baker, I could not resist. Thank you to a special someone for this one!!

My outfit today:

  1. Blouse: JCrew
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade (old, 3-4 years ago?)
  3. Belt: Kate Spade (Nordstrom, 2+ years ago)
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade

Oh and to make matters worse, I went to the outlet this morning and HAD to bring this critter home:

Mr Fox needs a proper name. Isn’t he adorable?! Makes me regret not snagging the owl cross body last summer that was the same size. This is also online at the surprise sale (and it’s the same price in stores as online), as is the other newly released fox items for outlet!!

Until next time,

City Lights

This skirt is one of my favorite pieces ever. It wasn’t easy to track down in my size, as it was released before I became enamoured of Kate Spade’s clothing items! Bonus? It has pockets!

  1. Blouse: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Oscar de la Renta
  4. Shoes: Sam Edelman
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade

It’s day 4 of the school year and I have landed myself a summer cold, combined with wretched allergies! My poor ears are so stopped up I can hardly hear, which makes for interesting conversations!!! Also makes me feel very off balance, which is why I wore flats again today.

Until next time,

First Monday of 2016

Woah, back to “normal” today! (Okay, kids don’t go back to school for a week, and 3 are gone…but you know!) My Christmas decor is still up, so I’m in denial about the holidays being over for just a few more days!

My attire today:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

I’ve been go so far this year and have avoided most of the online sales. I am going to attempt to purchase less clothing this year, so far I have been good! Handbags and accessories….well, I’m working on it.

 Until next time,

Today I had major clothing anxiety. As in, MAJOR CLOTHING ANXIETY! I had picked this out, but my feet are swollen and so the shoes didn’t work (stupid arthritis!):

  1. Cardigan & Skirt: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

So then I put this on (it was supposed to be windy today)

  1. Cardigan & Skirt: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

By this point I felt like goldilocks….the shoes were NOT WORKING! So I ended up in this…a good old standby:

  1.  Dress, Cardigan & Bag: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

However I managed to spill coffee on myself, followed by macaron batter (yes I bake in my clothes…and sometimes I remember to wear an apron!), and so I changed AGAIN to go to bible study tonight:

  1. Cardigan, Skirt & Bag: Kate Spade
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Okay, so maybe I just wanted to whip out that pretty new blue bag I caved and bought this morning at the outlet. Hey, it’s cross country season and this bag is school spirit wear! (Orange and Blue!!)

Oh and I made tons of these…and will be back at it tomorrow morning (along with a few dozen sugar roses!) as I booked another order for this weekend tonight:

I am officially a French Macaron factory. Yum yum! I was good and didn’t eat them either. We shall see how long that lasts.

Until next time,

Phoning It In

Today that was me, totally, utterly “phoning it in”, clothing wise! I started the day in pants, or should I say “slacks”, and then swapped them out for a skirt when I ran out of the house for errands this afternoon. Of course I was so busy baking I didn’t get photos in my first outfit. I did for the second one…and honestly? I was not feeling it. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t feeling extraordinary today? Not sure, but I sure was feeling macaron-making!

First my outfit:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Blouse: Elle (Kohls)
  3. Skirt: Kate Spade
  4. Belt: Kate Spade
  5. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Today was a major baking day. See, it started yesterday when I went to the dentist. And walked out with a handful of macaron orders. I had to bake already today, so what was 8 dozen more macarons?! I also did a new flavour, Key Lime Pie (key lime buttercream with biscoff cookie crumbles!)

It was soooo good. And tomorrow? It will be even better!!!! I also made a cake, my white chocolate cake with fresh strawberries, covered in my strawberry buttercream (that is more buttery than sweet. It’s divine), for a colleague of my husband’s wife. He was SO excited about this cake, it just reminded me WHY I love to bake, because of how happy it makes others! I do hope his wife loves it, and t lives up the the “hype”!! (I had sent cupcakes a few weeks ago of the same cake/icing combo to my husbands office. I think it’s even better in a cake though. It smelled sooooooo amazing)

Yes, I had TV on the iPad….Reign on the CW. I just love seeing the costumes!!!!

And finally I finished this little project, for my youngest who requested it for a special event coming up. I love that he wants something sparkly to go with my shoes for our outing!!

My youngest kills it! Well and my middle son, he always wears a sparkly bow tie to events! It’s kind of their “thing”. The girls dig it too.

And now, off to bed. I excited for next week, my schedule slows down a bit and I get a “do-nothing” day!! Of course all my insanity IS self inflicted, but it sure is fun to run like a madwoman!!

Until next time,

Weekend in Review

Oh my, where to start?! How about this:

The final delivery of Valentine’s Day, a gorgeous dessert bar for a party. Not to sound conceited, but I do believe I outdid myself with this one!!

I didn’t snap an outfit photo, but I wore this:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Light Siam Strass Jimmy Choo flats
Handbag: Kate Spade (the new one from the surprise sale)

Sunday I wore this…a recent acquisition, one that I took in so it fit properly (because sometimes with a Jillian dress, you just HAVE TOO):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade
Jewelery: Pearls (necklace & bracelet)

And today I wore this, in homage to the fact that we are having 80-degree weather while the rest of the country is buried under snow and ice (or so it seems!)

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Flora Nikrooz
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Nina, painted and Strassed by me

I have been on a HUGE Jillian dress kick lately!! There is still many I am hunting for, the candy stripe one, the black rose print, navy polka dots, a green silk print, and a gorgeous what looks like painted silk one. It’s such a lovely dress style!! Oh I believe there was a yellow stripe one as well. Soooo many! I would seriously own every last one. Although I admit there’s been a zebra print one that I have passed on. Animal print isn’t really my think.

Anyway, we are still eating these:

It was a wonderful Valentine’s Day this year!

Until next time,

Can we have a word here. Like seriously, a WORD?!

It is Friday. Which means my crazy insane week is FINALLY winding down. Hundreds of cake pops, more French Macarons, and all I have left is to dip a measly 150 strawberries tomorrow morning. Cakewalk! (It really is. Melting and tempering the chocolate is the most time consuming part!)

I’ve had my business for about 7 years, and many of those I hustled on holidays. I had good sales, but nothing NOTHING like this year. And I didn’t even really hustle this year! I suppose that means I’m doing something right, or perhaps I’m charging too little for my monster macarons:

All I know is that I did more than I dreamed this week, and kept the house clean, and went to my other “job”, and kept everyone fed. Sometimes it’s good to see how far you can push yourself! I just wish I had snapped more photos, when I had those cookies all laid out yesterday to box everything up, it was INSANE! And of course it’s all been picked up at this point today!!! Oh well.

Some outfits, starting with today (for when you have deliveries to make, specifically a pile to your husbands new co-workers, one wants to look the Valentine part, right?!)

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian (this was the first Kate Spade dress my husband bought me. Well that we remember anyway)
Shoes: Montana Sapphire strass Christian Louboutin

Cardigan: Barney’s
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: It’s a Wrap (it’s from Anthropologie)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Light Siam strass Jimmy Choo flats

And Wednesday (yes, I’ve been rocking the Valentine theme ALL week. Seriously yall, it’s helped keep me cheerful and not stress about that huge sheet I had that listed all my orders!!):

Cardigan: Target (old! At least 2 years ago)
Blouse: thrifted, no brand
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Light Siam strass Jimmy Choo flats

And I will leave you with this….my husband is a quiet man, and at times living with an engineer can be, well, interesting (especially being as “out there” as I am!), but boy does he know how to pick a handbag! These were his choices from the recent surprise sale (minus the ship clutch, I actually bought that one), and he did good!!

I am blessed beyond measure this week.

Now back to the kitchen!

Until next time,
