Holiday Weekend

Woot! Hello 3-day weekend! I’ve had kind of an interesting week, some major changes happening in my world and when I have things going on I tend to lose myself either in a pair of shoes or baking in the kitchen. This week it was baking! TONS of French Macarons!

Just a few of the many MANY dozens I made. There is something fulfilling about seeing them all lined up!

Yesterday I wore this:

  1. Blouse: Forever 21 (old)
  2. Skirt & Belt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Kate Spade

And today:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Wrap Dress (circa 2010-2011 I believe? It’s an older one!)
  2. Shoes: Kate Spade (also older, they are a kitten heel)

Did you see that sale is an additional 25% off this weekend online? I have some gift cards, so I may pick up one or two smaller items, but I am limiting myself for the month of September, as I went a LITTLE overboard for the month of August. I have one more big order coming from Kate Spade next week as well. OOPS.

I really need to cull my closet a bit more. I started a “closet” on Instagram ( Right here ) to unload pieces that I no longer wear, use, or items I purchased for someone at the outlets, and then was never paid for them and often times forget to return them. I know holidays are coming and I do have a few NWT items. I still need to bite the bullet and get rid of dresses I know I will NEVER EVER wear, but keep for sentimental reasons. Sigh. I’m totally a fashion hoarder!

Until next time,

Jules

Sunday

Whew, today has been long!! Lots of baking, tomorrow is my stepsons’ birthday (yes, they share a birthday! Among other things), and another cake that was ordered. It’s all done, and the ice cream cakes are in the freezer!

My piping skills aren’t the greatest….but it will do!

I wore my Madison Avenue dress to church this morning….

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Madison Avenue Ines Dress
  2. Necklace: Kate Spade (I could wear this one every day!!)
  3. Earrings: Nadri, picked up for under $10 at Nordstrom Rack last week.
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade (I bought these when my husband bought me this dress. They MAKE the dress!!)

I ended up changing when we got home….I was hot, and I’ll be honest, my feet weren’t terribly happy!! The shoes above aren’t all-day heels. So I put this on:

  1.  Dress: David’s Bridal, picked up at goodwill.
  2. Brooch: vintage, off eBay
  3. Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, strassed in Crystal AB.

Perhaps I’ll take the “dress a day in May” to the extreme and shoot for two dresses a day! (Kidding…although should I be ashamed to admit I could do that AND be able to not repeat a single dress? Eeks!!!) I am hoping our beautiful weather holds, although it could be a little cooler…93 degrees in early May is a little too hot.

Until next time,

Jules

Madison Avenue Collection

Oh my….it’s official, I am on a shopping ban. Today my husband and I are in Las Vegas for a yearly shindig we attend, and of course we had to go visit the new (well, I saw “new” because it opened last summer and this was my first trip to it) outlet at the Las Vegas North Outlets.

And found this dress, which is a Madison Avenue piece….one I actually tried on a couple of weeks ago in California, but the smallest size was WAY too big. There it was, in my size, marked down, with additional 50%, and then I acquired a coupon for an additional 10% off. And so….I sweet talked my husband into it, and I picked up the shoes to match (I recently sold some pieces, which more than covered the expense of the shoes!):

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Madison Avenue Collection (several outlets have this dress in various sizes…and you know they ship for $5!)
  2. Shoes: Kate Spade (also available in black various places online)
  3. Necklace: Kate Spade (outlet exclusive from last year)

I neglected to snap any photos of the actual store…it was quite possibly the largest outlet I’ve been to, but I was a little disappointed by the selection. They had quite a bit of pieces from the regular line, I just happen to already own it. They even had some Blazers and cardigans from the Capri collection a year ago! I always recommend making friends with gals at outlets, get on their mailing list, get on their email list. You can hunt for that dream piece at a manageable price, if you are patient, and are willing to wait/take a gamble. I’ve missed out on things here and there, but eventually, it will pop up somewhere!!!

This is what I wore for the car trip up here, and to go shopping:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade (older piece…I was so excited to find this, also in my size! That’s always a magical moment)
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And for fun….me in the car with all my pillows (I slept quite a bit!)

My sunglasses, while prescription, are Kate Spade (Livia, available on the website!), and my necklace and earrings are older pieces that are real. I actually cannot wear costume earrings, so I don’t always have amazing earrings to go with various statement necklaces! However this pair, my diamond studs, or simple pearls pretty much go with anything!

So, with the acquisition of my first Madison Avenue dress….I really think the construction and the quality is beautiful. It reminds me of the older pieces (3-4 years ago), but just a little more top notch. I do have to say I feel it runs a tad large…the dress I am wearing (both pictures today actually!) is a 00, and I probably have about a half inch of excess fabric. So with a fit and flare Madison Avenue piece, I would not size up. I couldn’t tell you about any of the sheath dresses….I didn’t try any of them on.

I’m hoping the wind is minimal up here in Vegas tomorrow, I have the cutest outfit planned!! *crosses fingers*

Until next time,

Jules

Monday Blues

Oh my, it’s gloomy here in California!!!! All overcast, rainy, and COLD! (For us….it’s been in the 40-50’s all day) The overcast and rain really does a number on me, I was achy all day yesterday, and today is just as miserable! Yesterday we stayed home as a family in our pjs and binged on Disney movies.

I also made these:

My goal was for them to look like sea glass. Or as if someone poured a bag of crystals on them. It’s for one of my summer brides, and she is in love with them! (Hey, what wedding planner do you know that also embellishes the shoes?! Or in some cases, the shoes are the “something borrowed”.)

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Barney’s (online warehouse sale)
Shirt: Target (or Kohls? I cut the tags out and can never remember!)
Skirt: Vintage (and a total staple!! This $6 skirt has been worth every penny!!)
Belt: eBay
Necklace: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag: Kate Spade

Happy Monday!!

Until next time,

Jules

Fall?!

Ouch, it’s hard to believe fall is “officially” here! Of course it still feels like summer where I live, although I haven’t had to run my air conditioning in a few days, which is nice! While I’m ready for fall, I’m still dressing for summer, something required when the high hits the low 90’s!

Sunday I wore this, first time since I fixed the broken zipper!

Dress: Kate Spade Emma Dress
Belt: Made by me
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: unsigned, picked up at Burlington Coat factory for less than $10
Bracelet: Ben Amun
Handbag: Stuart Weitzman (an it’s a wrap find for under $20!)

I did not receive any assistance from Kate Spade to fix my zipper (which is unfortunate, especially as they have used this color zipper since this dress! I only needed a zipper pull!!!). I ended up hunting down the company who manufactures zipper FOR Kate Spade and got a rose gold zipper pull from them (sadly, it does not have the pretty “bow” pull, but it IS the right colour!) and replaced it myself. Voila! Back in business. Add in a large necklace and wear my hair down and no one will notice the pull is different! (And even then, most people probably wouldn’t know)

Yesterday I wore this, an eBay find I was super excited about as I’ve been hunting for a black Jillian dress in my size for over a year!

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kohls

I threw the same dress on this morning to run kids to school. I’m actually headed back home, I’m working from home today, packing (I leave tomorrow for a week out of town), and doing “mommy” duties so my brood doesn’t starve while I’m gone. Food (specifically dinner) is my husbands love language, and so when I have to be gone, I try to make a point of preparing meals that are super easy to heat up and serve. This working mom and having to travel is rough yall!

Hope your week is awesome! My updates will be sporadic the next week or so. Catch me on Instagram (katespadegirlblog) or Twitter (ksgirlblog) for photos of my adventures!

Until next time,

Jules

Mid-Week Crash

This week, oh my! Yesterday I struggled with the worst migraine EVER. I had intended to spend my day resting, but ended up having to go into the office. (And again today!) So I threw on some acceptable clothing yesterday, and ran out the door:

IMG_4922.JPG

Top: Kate Spade (off eBay, I actually have two of these, you know, never hurts to have a backup! Me + White Anything can be disaster joys!)
Skirt: J Crew, off eBay a couple of years ago.
Shoes: Goodwill, $3 (sadly while they are cute, I can only wear them for short periods)
Handbag: Kate Spade Via Limoni Lina (available here)

And today, I threw this dress on, it’s super comfortable, looks halfway decent, and well, being as it was hotter than anything today, appropriate for the insane heat wave! It’s also wind-proof (as we had gusting desert wind today)!

Dress: Banana Republic (picked up in Walnut Creek on major sale, under $30)
Belt: Kate Spade, Nordstroms Anniversary Sale
Shoes: Kate Spade, off eBay

I also made these this morning before sprinting off to the office:

It was our first booster club meeting for AFJROTC, must butter the parents up so they stay involved all year! We had an excellent turnout, in fact I probably should have made mini-cupcakes. We had close to 30 people show up (quite a few cadets/younger children), and I’m so used to less than 10! Oh well. There will be many other meetings this year!

Looking forward to this weekend, I’m hoping to get some rest, it’s been a rough time lately. I’m flat-out exhausted!

Until next time,

Jules
