Black + White + Two Outfits

Yes, today was a TWO outfit day. I had a meeting earlier in the day that I felt required more “dress”.

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Emma in Black
Belt: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kate Spade (outlet exclusive from late last year)
Handbag: Wise Owl Quinn

But then I came home and changed to cook dinner & haul kids around(I know! But it was also super warm and this is a lighter dress):

Cardigan: Kate Spade (same worn earlier in the day)
Dress: Banana Republic
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Until next time,

Ooooo, it’s one of those days! Normally I take the summer “off” from my cake/wedding business, but this week I somehow ended up with not just one, but two cake orders! Luckily it’s been a slow week for my office job, so I haven’t been stressed not ignoring the family.

But I HAVE been ignoring my wardrobe! Case in point, today. I’m wearing total “slob” clothes (grubby t-shirt and old shorts), due to the 20lbs of fondant (not as much as you would think, it’s heavy stuff!) I’ve made, and will be working with later to finish these two cakes.

However, I do have some fun photos from yesterday afternoon! Some goodies from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale!

This dress & belt:

Kate Spade Emma Dress

This adorable (and completely frivolous) stamp set

I finally caved and snagged this with an old code I found in my email for Kate Spade:

And completely resisted the ongoing surprise sale over there! I was tempted by the pale blue Vail dress, but not enough to pull the trigger.

And lastly, even though her birthday is nearly two weeks away, I wrapped my daughters birthday presents last night.

Why you ask? Well, it’s just a crazy couple of weeks ahead of us, and I figured if I didn’t get it done last night, I would be panicking ON her birthday about finishing it! Because, it has to be pretty, right? It’s so bizarre, this is the first year I didn’t buy her any toys. She’s going to be 10! I still wanted and played with Barbie then. (But then again, I was the nerdy awkward kid/teenager. Kinda still am actually!) Alas, it’s clothes, jewelery, and lip balm. (I will not cave on makeup, yet)

So it’s back to playing with fondant for me. I talked my husband into driving me to Starbucks for a coffee (because the fancy espresso machine collecting dust in my pantry, has NO coffee grounds to go IN it.), as I imagine it’s going to be a late night. I could get used to this “husband home 24/7” thing!

Until next time,

Such a Sad Sad Day

This week has been brutal, so crazy. But I had made it to Thursday, and was so excited.

Until this afternoon. When I went to change and the zipper on my blush pink Emma dress broke! What?! How does a zipper on a Kate Spade dress break?! This is NOT OKAY!!! See photos:

Upon closer inspection, it appears that someone had messed with this zipper before. (I purchased it from an outlet location) I was so SO livid. While I realize I picked it up at about 75% off retail, it’s still a $400 dress, which means the zipper should not break!! Anyway, I have contacted Kate Spade and am seeing if I can get a whole new zipper and have a seamstress replace it. Sigh.

But before that, my outfit:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory

Yesterday I went to Disneyland with my daughter for a field trip & my mom tagged along. I totally repeated my dress, because pockets are essential at Disneyland!! I didn’t get a full shot, but here’s a few:

Don’t even ask what is going on with my hands! So funny!!

Cardigan: INC, from it’s a wrap (off the Desperate Housewives set)
Dress: Kate Spade Gayle dress (outlet only style)
Shoes: Multi-Strass Manolo Blahniks

And lastly, Tuesday:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

So much else going on, but I will save it for another day. Yesterday was long and crowded and the scandal of my zipper breaking today has done me in. I’m going to tuck myself into bed and hope the zipper gods find me soon.

Until next time,

Weekend Recap

Whew, what a crazy 3-days I have had! Every April my husband and I head up to Las Vegas for a conference. Always fun to see friends and gain some wisdom from the great John Maxwell.

And of course have fun dressing up Vegas-Style! Going out of town is always so hard for me, I always tend to overpack. This year I really worked to pare down and plan my wardrobe, with one backup ensemble (that I ended up not wearing). Major improvement from the 8 outfits and 7 pairs of shoes I packed last year!!! I also carried my Kate Spade Wise Owl Quinn all weekend (again, another improvement!)

My “travel” outfit I wore on the trip up:

Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Brooch: Vintage (isn’t it ADORABLE?!)

For Friday night I changed into this:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory

On Saturday I failed to take a photograph. However, it was the inaugural wearing of the infamous Pink Dress. Let me just say, this was a crazy crazy aquisition. The original one is actually on it’s way back to Kate Spade. Why you ask?! It had a wretched odor. To make a super long story short I do now own said Roset dress, but it was a hassle!! This one doesn’t have the smell (which was a cross between pesticide and mothballs!), and I will be very careful when ordering a dress from the online department depending on the fabric. I think it’s the plastic they have them stored in. But, regardless, I do own it, and I must say, it’s gorgeous!!! My favorite compliment was “I just have to tell you, your dress makes me SO happy!”. So while I can’t recommend ordering this dress online, if you can find it in a store, go for it!!!

The photos I did take:

Dress: Kate Spade Roset
Necklace: JCrew
Shoes: Kate Spade

And to church this morning, I repurposed the Mariella dress, adding in my Montana strass Christian Louboutin pumps:

And my final outfit for the weekend (and what I’m wearing on the trip home):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Necklace: J Crew
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Montana strass heels (done by me)

And because I was feeling lucky I tossed $5 into a slot machine, and then later put that $5 on red at a roulette table (which I’ve always wanted to do! Something so James Bond about that!!!! Of course I’m too cheap to bet a fortune, but it was fun!)

And the ball landed on red! The guy at the table asked me what I was going to do with my winnings, and I gleefully replied “cash them in!” And giggled, and sort of twirled. Hey, I was super excited!! It was only $5, but it was a win!! I think he was perplexed, but then again most people are perplexed by me! (Including myself!!) I did however buy my husband lunch. Big spender! But it was the experience, and as I’m not a big gambler, it was easy to walk away.

A good weekend. Sadly traffic is a huge snarl on the I-15, and I fear this is the 5-hour trip home VS the normal 3-3.5.

Sigh. Oh well. At least I got a free lunch! Hope your weekend was fabulous!!!!

Until next time,

Thursday is always an odd day for me. The kids have early release at school, plus I have bible study, and sometimes also end up going to work. Today was no exception, well, except work was at my house because I’m baking like a madwoman still!

But I decided to pull out some sparkle this morning:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Kate Spade
Bag: Kate Spade
Necklace: unknown

Of course in addition to all the macarons this week, I have a small cake to delivery tomorrow. Some teasers:

Zebra, shimmery glittery pink AND hidden mickeys?! Yes please!! Can’t wait to throw it all together. I know the birthday girl is going to be thrilled!

In addition to the dress sale I have going on, stay tuned for my 2-year blog anniversary giveaway!! I just received the last piece of my “puzzle” today and I am SO excited to share this!! Especially as it’s things chosen by me.

Until next time,
