Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Whoops, I had very good intentions of posting yesterday, thanking those who have served our country, but it never quite happened. I suppose I was too busy serving MY veteran and my kiddos! It happens. We stayed home and so I never really got dressed anyway.

Today it’s back to the dentist for a follow up, I must admit I am SO OVER this dental work nonsense!!

Sweater: Banana Republic (picked up secondhand at Its a Wrap)
Skirt: Thrifted (just a basic black pencil skirt)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: Banana Republic
Handbag: Kate Spade

My shoes I can only wear in cooler weather, do you have shoes like that? I have summer shoes for swollen feet and winter shoes for cold icy feet! Bizarre, I know.

Until next time,

Monday Blues

Well, my title may be appropriate for what I wore today, but I did not actually have the “Monday blues”. Kids went back to school this morning and I’m quite content to settle back into the regular “chaos” that shall ensue!

My outfit today: (it’s finally cooling off a wee bit here! Although the high did hit 87, so my cardigan did not last all day)

Cardigan: Kate Spade, from Its a Wrap (off the Desperate Housewives set. I imagine it was a Bree Vandecamp cardigan.)
Blouse: Thrifted, unknown brand (label was cut out)
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And for fun, what I wore to church yesterday:

Cardigan: Kate Spade, off eBay
Dress: Kate Spade, off eBay
Shoes: Christian Louboutin via Nordstrom Rack

Hard to believe it’s nearly the middle of October! Christmas is coming. Soon.

Until next time,

Ouch, it’s hard to believe fall is “officially” here! Of course it still feels like summer where I live, although I haven’t had to run my air conditioning in a few days, which is nice! While I’m ready for fall, I’m still dressing for summer, something required when the high hits the low 90’s!

Sunday I wore this, first time since I fixed the broken zipper!

Dress: Kate Spade Emma Dress
Belt: Made by me
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: unsigned, picked up at Burlington Coat factory for less than $10
Bracelet: Ben Amun
Handbag: Stuart Weitzman (an it’s a wrap find for under $20!)

I did not receive any assistance from Kate Spade to fix my zipper (which is unfortunate, especially as they have used this color zipper since this dress! I only needed a zipper pull!!!). I ended up hunting down the company who manufactures zipper FOR Kate Spade and got a rose gold zipper pull from them (sadly, it does not have the pretty “bow” pull, but it IS the right colour!) and replaced it myself. Voila! Back in business. Add in a large necklace and wear my hair down and no one will notice the pull is different! (And even then, most people probably wouldn’t know)

Yesterday I wore this, an eBay find I was super excited about as I’ve been hunting for a black Jillian dress in my size for over a year!

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kohls

I threw the same dress on this morning to run kids to school. I’m actually headed back home, I’m working from home today, packing (I leave tomorrow for a week out of town), and doing “mommy” duties so my brood doesn’t starve while I’m gone. Food (specifically dinner) is my husbands love language, and so when I have to be gone, I try to make a point of preparing meals that are super easy to heat up and serve. This working mom and having to travel is rough yall!

Hope your week is awesome! My updates will be sporadic the next week or so. Catch me on Instagram (katespadegirlblog) or Twitter (ksgirlblog) for photos of my adventures!

Until next time,

Tuesday We Wear Yellow

Okay, so not every Tuesday do I wear yellow. In fact, I don’t even have a pattern to what I wear! Lately it’s been “oh, cute dress, has pockets, is wind proof”, throw it on and go. But today I decided it was time to pull a skirt out.

Blouse: Anthropologie (but Thrifted, under $5)
Skirt: Vintage, under $10, picked up at It’s a Wrap
Belt: Kate Spade (outlet find)
Shoes: Strassed Jimmy Choo flats

Did you see the email this morning? Kate Spade has their sale on sale! Through July 6, additional 25% off sale styles. This is online AND in their regular retail stores! I picked up a few things, as I had a gift card. You shall have to wait and see what though!

Until next time,

June is Here!

2014 is flying by! I suppose when you run 17 different directions at any given time, well, days go by quickly!

I made it through my “dress a day in may”! I believe I wore more than 30 dresses (not skirts, but actual dresses!), and would have worn a dress yesterday as well, except it was Relay for Life, and I needed to wear purple & grey for my team!

I walk for Team Kayla, here’s a recent article about this extraordinary young lady! Kayla Norris

So, yesterday, I wore this (and wore it until I got home today at 10:45am! We started yesterday at 8am). We wear grey to support brain cancer awareness!

Shirt: Plain Target T-Shirt, I added the embellishments.
Skirt: Purchased at It’s a Wrap (and it was perfect!!)
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik flats Strassed in Crystal AB (the shoes I was rushing to finish last week!)

Some photos from the event:

I was able to bring in my oldest child’s AFJROTC unit to the event with me, and oh my, they were AMAZING!!! They were there at 9am on Saturday morning to prep for a 10am colour guard event, and then I had a handful who stayed until 10am this morning (Relay is a 24-hour event), and many who came & went throughout the event. All together I had somewhere between 15-25 cadets (I lost track, 3 hours of sleep will do that!!), and between them they racked up over 270 community service hours this weekend!! I’m a proud momma, especially as my child was there for 27 hours with me!

Anyway, I’m chilling this afternoon after a 5-hour nap. My wonderful husband is making dinner, and I have ice packs on my poor feet. Another year of Relay put to bed, and it was Team Kayla’s best year yet. I can’t wait for next year!

On that note, welcome to June! I have a really fun little “it’s summer!” Giveaway planned, keep an eye out for details later this week.

Until next time,

Weekend Recap

Where to begin?! Let us start with Friday, where I started the day in this:

Blouse & Necklace: Target
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade

But hated it. I was in a “mood” I suppose. So after taking the kids to school and putting the finishing touches on this special cake:

I decided to commit the ultimate fashion faux pas and throw on the same dress I wore the day before! (The horror!!) I styled it a touch differently though:

Cardigan: Target (girls’ section)
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: It’s a Wrap (movie clothing store in Hollywood. It’s a MUST see!)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Necklace: Kate Spade
Bracelet: vintage, garage sale find

To make a long weekend short, we spent a TON of time driving cars around this weekend. We have loaner cars until the repairs on my SUV and my husbands commuter car are done. Can I just say, I’m in love? I want to keep this: (it’s a 2013 Lexus GS350. I must say the controls are wicked awesome!!)

But alas, she must go back. I’ll have to snap more photos of it before I return the car. It sure is fun to drive! Soooo quiet.

Oh, clothing, right. What I wore to take cars in + tackle downtown Los Angeles with all 4 kids (specifically Santee Alley):

Cardigan: Ross
Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet
Skirt: Vintage
Belt: thrift
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simple
Necklace: Kate Spade

And today I was back down in LA, to drive high school kids to an event (which I dropped them off at), and heading into downtown for brunch with some girlfriends (yay!) at Bottega Louie (yum!). I dressed for the occasion of course:

Cardigan/Jacket: Target
Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin, Strassed by me
Necklace: Burlington

And of course a photo of the box of macarons I bought (because I buy them for the box)!

A fun, crazy weekend. I also made a stop in at the Citadel Kate Spade outlet. Nothing terribly exciting.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Until next time,

Palm Springs!

Yesterday we headed down to Palm Springs to see my parents, something which has become a bit of a school break tradition (I mean, who wouldn’t?! Hello pool time! Oh wait, I don’t do sun OR water!!). Sadly it was a short trip for me and the eldest child, he has AFJROTC starting Monday morning a 5:30am. Oy!!

It was beautiful though:

And that is the extent of photos I took! I was so busy enjoying the sites today and last night hitting all the Kate Spade stores, my phone hardly came out. Which I suppose was a good thing.

What I wore today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Top: Old Navy
Belt: handmade, picked up at It’s a Wrap
Skirt: J Crew (goodwill)
Shoes: Nina Jellies, Strassed by me in Violet AB

Oh and wait, what’s that shiny eye-looking thing?? Well, that is a story!!!! We visited the Kate Spade Desert Hills outlet last night and tucked on the clearance shelf is this little guy:

But wait you say, it’s missing an eye! Have no fear, it was tucked inside the bag. And what’s glueing an eye on for me? Even better? He was insanely discounted because of his “winking eye”. Which took all of about 60 seconds to remedy:
