Basic Black

Today was basic black day….well, kind of! This is my “go-to” dress when I just don’t feel all that awesome. It really is easy, and it has pockets! It was warm enough today I didn’t really need a cardigan!

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Hope Dress (Paris collection, 2014)
  2. Belt: It’s a Wrap, no label
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade Rachelle

And really? That’s all I have today. Nursing an aching back and trying to catch up on emails and paperwork!

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway here!! Ends on Sunday March 15!

Until next time,

Can we have a word here. Like seriously, a WORD?!

It is Friday. Which means my crazy insane week is FINALLY winding down. Hundreds of cake pops, more French Macarons, and all I have left is to dip a measly 150 strawberries tomorrow morning. Cakewalk! (It really is. Melting and tempering the chocolate is the most time consuming part!)

I’ve had my business for about 7 years, and many of those I hustled on holidays. I had good sales, but nothing NOTHING like this year. And I didn’t even really hustle this year! I suppose that means I’m doing something right, or perhaps I’m charging too little for my monster macarons:

All I know is that I did more than I dreamed this week, and kept the house clean, and went to my other “job”, and kept everyone fed. Sometimes it’s good to see how far you can push yourself! I just wish I had snapped more photos, when I had those cookies all laid out yesterday to box everything up, it was INSANE! And of course it’s all been picked up at this point today!!! Oh well.

Some outfits, starting with today (for when you have deliveries to make, specifically a pile to your husbands new co-workers, one wants to look the Valentine part, right?!)

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian (this was the first Kate Spade dress my husband bought me. Well that we remember anyway)
Shoes: Montana Sapphire strass Christian Louboutin

Cardigan: Barney’s
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: It’s a Wrap (it’s from Anthropologie)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Light Siam strass Jimmy Choo flats

And Wednesday (yes, I’ve been rocking the Valentine theme ALL week. Seriously yall, it’s helped keep me cheerful and not stress about that huge sheet I had that listed all my orders!!):

Cardigan: Target (old! At least 2 years ago)
Blouse: thrifted, no brand
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Light Siam strass Jimmy Choo flats

And I will leave you with this….my husband is a quiet man, and at times living with an engineer can be, well, interesting (especially being as “out there” as I am!), but boy does he know how to pick a handbag! These were his choices from the recent surprise sale (minus the ship clutch, I actually bought that one), and he did good!!

I am blessed beyond measure this week.

Now back to the kitchen!

Until next time,

Oh Monday, we meet again! Today was spent running errands, seeing the chiropractor (best way to start the day, massage + neck adjustment!), and making French Macarons for an order this week.

My ensemble (I skipped a necklace because my neck is SUCH a mess!)

Cardigan: Ross
Shirt: Banana Republic
Skirt: It’s a Wrap (but it’s an Anthropologie piece)
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Green Tourmaline Strassed Christian Louboutins

And of course, these delicious gems:

I think they came out my best yet. While I didn’t use any recipes from my new Laduree book, it held some great pointers for me. I also love all the ganache recipes!!! Very easy to create your own concoctions!

Plus it’s just the most beautiful book EVER!

Until next time,

Oh my, is this week half over? Eeks!!! I wasn’t feeling particularly cheerful today, so I threw on something super bright:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (picked up secondhand at Its a Wrap)
T-Shirt: Banana Republic
Skirt: Topshop (also picked up at Its a Wrap)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I also started my morning out right, by baking some cookies!! Salted chocolate chip & raspberry-lemon thumbprints:

Mmmmm. Those thumbprints are so good! They have cream cheese & butter in them, so it’s a mix of creamy and crunchy. I really like almond-raspberry, but these were a special request. Still yummy!

Until next time,

Monday Monday

And now, 12 days into the year, it FINALLY feels like a proper Monday! Kids went back to school, and my husband started a new job, and all is right with the world!!

Well, kinda. I pulled something in my back yesterday and so have been laid up a bit. But had to be up and going this morning, and it was a doozy day! I wore this:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (sample piece)
Blouse: Banana Republic (old!!)
Skirt: Topshop, but from It’s a Wrap (the skirt my husband bought me Saturday. I’m in love. It also has pockets!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I had to go pick up my car this afternoon and it just worked out my best gal pal was in the same general area, and so, crazy dinner plans happened. She brought her new puppy, and we had 4 of our 5 assorted children, and ate yummy food. I also changed shoes just for her:

And the highlight of my day? Receiving this book AND a highlighter to review from one of my favorite authors, Kathi Lipp (she’s brilliant, she’s funny, she’s also a stepmom, and I love that about her!). She’s just an amazing writer, you feel like she’s sitting in the room with you as you read. I had applied for her “review” program on this one on a whim, never expecting it to show up on my doorstep. It was like the best package in my mailbox today!!! I love books, like seriously, LOVE BOOKS, so getting one for free is even better. Getting one for free to review, well, that’s a challenge, and I have resolved to challenge myself in 2015, so here we go!

My husband and I are quite excited to jump in and do this experience together. It does require some planning, ack, so much paperwork to catch up on tomorrow!! Being in bed unable to really move for a day is SUPER NOT FUN!!

I managed to keep up with “no shop January” yesterday (as when you can’t move you can’t shop.), and today, even though I was in a mall for dinner, I DID NOT BUY ANYTHING. Except fuel for the cars. But you kind of need that to drive. Especially when the light is on. OOPS!!

Looking forward to this new week, and hoping my back decides to cooperate with the plans I have, and not make its own. I guess I needed a reminder that I’m not 22 anymore, no matter what the song says. *grins*

Until next time,

Whoops. Oops. I broke the “no shop January” today.

However, it could have been much MUCH worse. I ended up with crystals:

I passed on these (and it was sooooo hard! Kate Spade heels for $6?! But they needed new heel taps, and I’m not normally an animal print person):

I did pick up a Banana Republic skirt from Spring 2005 I had wanted but didn’t buy then, for a whopping $2 (score!), and some clothing for my daughter. Then we hit up Its a Wrap and bought the kiddos a pile of jeans, and I slipped in the most adorable skirt. But my husband paid, so that doesn’t count, right?! (Hahahahaha) Then I managed to keep my itchy fingers from picking up another Kate Spade dress at Nordstrom Rack that was really too big, and frankly overpriced for the rack. Sigh.

I wore this today:

Cardigan: Boden
Top: Flora Nikrooz
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I believe however, THIS was the highlight of our day:

Hello gas rewards!!! Nothing like filling up my big SUV for less than $30!!

Anyway, I suppose I failed at no shop January, but will start fresh tomorrow and see if j can make it more than 10 days!

Until next time,

So today was a TOTAL slump day for me. Let’s just say my head is spinning, and we are prepping for tax season at the office. Combine that with a migraine I’ve had off/on since before Christmas (this happens from time to time), with whiplash (thank you oldest child!!), and well, yeah. This is the ONLY photos I took of my outfit:

Blouse: Thrifted (no tag, love the colour!) it was maybe $3?
Cardigan: Kate Spade, picked up at It’s a Wrap in Hollywood (I admit to stalking it for almost 6 months, waiting for the price to drop!!)
Pants: Banana Republic
Necklace: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And today my final purchase of 2014 arrived, well, my husband’s final purchase. He claims this is my anniversary present, but we shall see about THAT. So, meet Rajah:

Isn’t he adorable?! Out of all the Kate Spade clutches and coin purses I picked up last year, he is by FAR the best. For now he will sit on my dresser, not sure when he will go out for his first public debut. I’m just super excited to have him, as sometimes I have waited TOO long for a whimsical piece like this (as I did get him for less than half of retail) to go on sale and end up not getting it (hello Shanghai Take Out bag! I’m looking at you here!)

So now begins the most difficult part of #noshopjanuary as all my end of December purchases have arrived (I take that back, I have one more coming tomorrow, except it’s Christmas gifts for 2015. So the box will go straight in the garage), and that’s it for fun mail! That’s what I love most about shopping, the package waiting on my doorstep when I arrive home.

Yes, I am aware I have a problem. I relate with Becky Bloomwood of Shopaholic fame far too much!

Happy Wednesday!!

Until next time,
