Wednesday Insanity

Seriously, I have NO OTHER WORDS for today.  I’ll start with outfits from the past few days….

  1. Cardigan: Barney’s
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed in Light Siam stones.

Tuesday….where I wore the same dress but swapped out some details from day to evening. Everything is Kate Spade.

  1. Cardigans: Both Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Sonja in Navy Blue
  3. Belts: Both Kate Spade, the first came with the dress, the burgundy one is from Nordstrom.
  4. Shoes: Kate Spade (both pairs), in fact both are suede!!!
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade Rachelle (the smaller version is back at the outlets in this color!!!)
  6. Necklace: Kate Spade (current at the outlets)

Today encompassed 3 ensembles. I started in this to run some errands:

  1. Blouse: Thrifted, no brand.
  2. Skirt: Sandee Royalty
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Then I changed to take my oldest for his driving test!!! (Hang on…this is where my day gets REALLY REALLY INSANE)

  1.  Dress: Kate Spade Adette (some outlets may still have this dress on their clearance rack!!!!!)
  2. Belt: Kate Spade (from Nordstrom)
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin (I LOVE these heels!!! That silver bow is sublime)

Then I changed to this….

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade Girls, size Large (on sale right now!!!!)
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Adette
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed in Light Siam.

Now you ask…why the outfit change, and WHAT HAPPENED at the driving test.

Well. We pull up and the kid puts the car in park and I am going to get out of the car, as it’s his turn to meet his examiner. But all of a sudden there’s a horrific BAM BOOM BAM and the car lurches forward about 10 feet (it was in PARK mind you!!!. We both freaked thinking it was a bomb or something. But no.

The driver behind us SLAMMED INTO MY CAR. In fact they slammed into my bumper SO HARD, there is an imprint of their license plate embedded in my bumper!! And about 3 punctured holes IN the bumper. People are running and screaming at the kid to put the car in park (I don’t blame them…the car lurched that much!!), and was just plain dizzy and seeing stars. I was unbelted and about to exit the car, so I went flying.

However, as they suggested a reschedule of the test, as I was aching with whiplash, I look over and see my son calm as a cucumber. Ready to take his test. WHICH HE PASSED!!! I’m so proud of him…he got in his first accident AND passed his behind the wheel driving test all within a 45-minute period.

Of course I have who knows what wrong with my back now. I just know I am in considerable pain, dizzy, and have a wicked cool headache. But hey, THE KID PASSED HIS TEST. And he has a wicked cool story to tell.

The bright side? My flamingo survived:

I have an incredible team of Drs already lined up to fix me, and the car will get a shiny new bumper. He also has a really memorable story for the day he got his license. I’m hoping it encourages him to be a very thoughtful driver. It also could have been worse….it could have been my kid who hit someone in line to take their driving test!! I’m thankful for our car insurance company who has already handled so much. Also grateful he took his test in my big SUV, as the other cars would have been seriously injured!! My biggest concern is for my back/neck, I know tomorrow is not going to be fun! Back to flats for a while for me!

Until next time,

Dress A Day In May

Ooooo, I had forgotten about this fun little thing for May, where you wear “a dress a day”!! A bunch of gals on Instagram did it last year, and I joined in (but I mean…that’s normal for me anyway, right?!), and so yesterday kicked off 2015’s #DADIM on Instagram! Today I went for it with GUSTO, wearing TWO dresses!

Started the day in this…leaving at 5:30am to go pick up my husband’s car (it had a recall), and then popping up to the outlets with my teenager who needs just a few more hours of driving time before he takes his test at the end of the month!

  1. Dress: Kate Spade (picked up during Saks’ Friends & Family sale….its a 0, which I’m actually glad about because of getting it on/off. A 00 would fit properly, but I could see struggles to get it off!!)
  2. Belt: came with the dress (but ohhhh the possibilities of belts with this dress! All those fun colours!!)
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I then changed after we got home, as the temperature had gotten out of control, and the balloon dress is a VERY heavy fabric. I pulled out an oldie but one of my favorites…the fabric is so light and airy, yet does NOT fly up in the wind!

  1.  Dress: Lela Rose for Target/Neiman Marcus (which you can find this on eBay for less than $15 WITH SHIPPING!!!)
  2. Necklace: Kate Spade (on sale here )
  3. Belt: Kate Spade, Navy Glitter (pops up on Nordstrom in the sale section from time to time…)
  4. Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, Strassed by me, but I ended up wearing the Nina Jellies (also strassed by me) in the last photo above.

I made some tiered cake/dessert plates:

Also working on ice cream cakes for the May birthday boys!! (Two on Monday, and the youngest later in the month)

My homemade mint chocolate (made with Godiva truffles)  ice cream wih mint chocolate marbled cake, and chocolate buttercream. Hopefully they won’t be too disappointed it’s not from Baskin-Robbins!

Until next time,

Monday Blues

Monday morning always difficult, even more so after having been gone all weekend! So I tossed on one of my favorite 2015 acquisitions and rocked it: (seriously, I could wear this dress twice a week. It’s comfortable, the fabric is beautiful, and it has POCKETS!!)

  1. Cardigan: Barney’s
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Kendrick (outlet only…current here in the US)
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And to recap what I wore Saturday (sadly I did not take any photos yesterday of my dress!!! I need better shoes…more on that later), starting the day out in this:

  1.  Jacket: Kate Spade Valerie (off eBay, under $50. I have this is yellow too. I LOVE it)
  2. Blouse: Unknown. I don’t remember if this was an eBay or a thrift shop find, but it was secondhand.
  3. Skirt: Kate Spade (again, off eBay. Sadly they did not make this one for the outlet this year! It’s tricky to wear, as its a light silk, so any wind and you flash everyone!)
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And I changed into this for the evening, because, when in Vegas….sparkles are appropriate!!!

  1. Dress: Kate Spade (available in white right now in the sale section! The white is a very matte white sequin. My husband was a little disappointed, but I love how subtle the white is. This navy one however….not so subtle!! Some of the outlets might have it still…never hurts to call and ask!)
  2. Shoes: Christian Louboutin, strassed by me in Montana Sapphire crystals.

Sunday we popped over to the Venetian on the strip to visit Kate Spade:

And left empty handed. Of course 1. They had nothing in my size, and 2. it’s friends and family this coming weekend!! I have my eye on the Corley dress, after seeing it in person, It’s on my “want” list. But I’m not feeling the rest of spring right now!! (Which is a good thing)

Of course then we HAD to go to shoe mecca and I fell in love with a gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutins that are sooooo impractical! Luckily they were 120mm, which I cannot do, and so we left the strip with nothing more than lunch! But the sales associates at Louboutin were sooooo amazing. I just wanted to hang out with them all afternoon!

Hope your Monday was grand!

Until next time,

Let Them Eat Cake

I did not post last night, mainly because I wore what I wore Tuesday night all day, until I changed before my husband and I went to our couples bible study. I pulled out my Wynne dress last night:

  1. Cardigan: JCrew Kids
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Wynne Dress
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Strassed in Jonquil

And today, I wore this to bake all day:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dress: Kate Spade
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade
  6. Necklace: Kate Spade

And cake, lots and lots of cake:

German chocolate, lemon-raspberry, and a tasting box for one of my summer brides! Oh and cupcakes for the kiddos. Yummy!!!!

Until next time,

Date Night

Last night my husband and I stepped out for about an hour, in what we call “date night” (a trip to Target). Since “winter” decided to show up, it did require another outfit change, making the grand total 3 changes yesterday!

Last night:

  1. Cardigan: Banana Republic
  2. Blouse: Banana Republic Outlet
  3. Pants: Banana Republic
  4. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade

Tonight I took my youngest to the mother-son dance at school. He picked my outfit:

  1. Dress: Theia
  2. Necklace: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade

Although I realized after we got home, I should have taken Rajah! However I did wear my fur coat, so perhaps it’s best he stayed home. I made this for my son to wear as well (which he ended up giving away by the end of the night….that kid, so generous! Granted I did promise to make him another in colours of his choosing….)

Hope your weekend is going well. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow here….I am scheduled to drive for ROTC tomorrow, but it may be cancelled due to weather. I’m torn, on one hand it would be lovely to see friends, the new Kate Spade spring collection in person, and hit up Its a Wrap. But the idea of staying home is also oh-so-lovely. Rainy day at home?! Yes please!

Until next time,

50 Shades of Blue

Now let me first say, I am not planning on seeing the 50 shades movie, nor will I, nor do I feel it is a good work of literature. I will read just about anything (I love reading!), but not that!! I am reading a great book right now:

It’s a fascinating fictional account of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife Zelda. I adore historical fiction, and while this is not my normal “century”, I have enjoyed it!

Anyway, off books and on to clothing. Today ended up being a 2-outfit day, due to the wind deciding to start blowing sometime between 8:15am and 9:30am while I was at the chiropractor. So I changed my dress for one more wind-proof, but left everything else the same!

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dresses: 1st: Kate Spade Mariella Dress (re-released at the outlet shops this week!); 2nd: Kate Spade Elza Dress. Both are from the Capri collection in 2014
  3. Belt: Kate Spade (outlet, spring ’14)
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed
  5. Handbag: Kate Spadr Rachelle, with a lemon bag charm

And with that, I’m off to enjoy my Friday afternoon. I have the afternoon “off”, which translates into about 2 hours of quiet time in which I will veg out on my couch and listen to the wind howl, while feeling guilty I’m not cleaning the house. It’s hard to let go, but I realize the house does not have to be perfect 24/7!

Until next time,

Mom’s Day Out

Today I played Mom Taxi, went to Disneyland for a couple of hours, has Earl of Sandwich, hit up Kate Spade at The Citadel in LA, and even got in a bit of work before playing Mom Taxi again!!! And was even home by 4!

My outfit:

Cardigan: Boden
Dress: Kate Spade Adette (currently on the clearance rack at the outlets!!)
Belt: Target
Shoes: Crystal AB strassed Manolo Blahnik’s

Disneyland is still being overrun by Frozen:

Earl of Sandwich (which lives up to the hype)

Outlet excess:

As for my purchases? Well, those shall have to wait for another day! I really had fun with the wonderful staff at The Citadel, they were very busy, but still took the time to chat with me, and look for a dress for me! (Which I located and arranged to have it shipped! You know it’s only $5 to ship right?!) They had all the spring line out on display, and if you loved all the lemons last spring? They are BACK!!! They also have the Roset (the hot pink one) as well! I am excited for the items I purchased, and also excited that the new spring items I own most of it, hopefully giving my pocketbook a little bit of a break!!

Hope your Saturday was fabulous!!!

Until next time,
