Life Lately

Life lately. Now that is a loaded statement! Why? Well, those who follow my Instagram have seen the madness. And it’s exactly that, madness!!

Well, not that bad, but I feel like I AM a cookie at this point. I have a huge order for a wedding this weekend (which I am super excited about, it’s a cousin, so we get to attend, and it’s a snazzy dressy event. Super excited for my outfit!!), and it’s been a hectic past two days!!

Sugar Cookies:

No bake chocolate-peanut butter drops (these are TO DIE FOR!! Super easy too):

Chocolate chip cookie dough (to be baked Saturday before the wedding. The bride has a kitchen I envy!!)

Sugar cookie bow ties:

Of course French Macarons, in Lemon, Raspberry-Pomegranate, Chocolate, Coffee, and for Easter orders: almond & raspberry-almond:

20140416-232043.jpg

And then there’s the cake balls, white chocolate, chocolate, red velvet, and Kaulua:

20140416-232205.jpg

20140416-232217.jpg

I can’t wait to get pictures of it all set up. I know it will be amazing! I won’t share the small cutting cake, I want it to be a surprise to the bride!

I failed to snap an outfit shot yesterday, but here’s what I wore today (with an apron of course!):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Target (like a year + ago)
Belt: eBay (and I admit I bought the same belt in like 12 colours. They were $1.50 each!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And there you go. It’s been utter chaos this week, and will continue to be until next week. After the wedding my husband and I are taking a mini-vacation to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary (two months early, but who’s counting?!). Not sure where we will end up, hopefully some time in San Francisco, and maybe the coast. So many places up that way neither of us have ever been! Perhaps a trip to Hearst Castle (which I have never been to!). So many options!

Hope your week is going well!

Until next time,

Jules

Spring!

Wow, it’s such a gorgeous day today!!! Seriously, can one beat this:

I mean, wow! I wish I could say I spent time out there, but alas, me + sun does not equal a nice equation! My kids are out enjoying it this afternoon though!

My outfits today(I changed it up a bit after lunch):

The photos above do NOT show the true colour of my sweater! These are more accurate (and show how important lighting is for photographs!):

Cardigan: Kate Spade (Woodbury Commons outlet)
Top: Old Navy (NWT, $3 @ goodwill)
Skirt: Corilynn
Shoes: Kate Spade Multi-Glitter Heels (I also own these in a pale rose gold pink)
Handbag: Kate Spade

And of course it seems it’s never a proper Wednesday unless I bake something! I threw together some lemon-raspberry thumbprint cookies for someone quite dear to me. Especially because he consumes large quantities of anything I bake for him!

Hope your week is going stellar!

Miss America Preliminary

Whew, it has been a long day! All those desserts I’ve been Instagram-ing this week were for the judges hospitality table at our local Miss America preliminary pageant.

Dessert table: (and it was yummy!!)

I spent the afternoon with the contestants, helping prep them for their interviews. Being my first time ever involvement with a pageant, I am impressed. Several of these young ladies were extremely poised, for being so young. It was also fun to see them outside of the formal event. Same with the judges, what a great group. People always gush about the Miss America Organization, and I get it. I totally get it.

My outfit for this morning/afternoon:

20130126-220620.jpg

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Dress: Calvin Klein (found this is a box last week, woo-hoo!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Decolette
Handbag: Kate Spade
Necklace: Banana Republic

Shoes & Bag:

More French Macarons:

20130126-220807.jpg

And what I wore to the pageant this evening. The photo isn’t that great, it was as we were leaving. So I’m tired and cranky at this point, and my feet were dying from being in heels for 10 hours running around. I love my decolettes, but they hurt my toes after a few hours!

20130126-221010.jpg

20130126-221017.jpg

Coat: Vintage, label says Robinsons
Dress: Vintage
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simple 100’s in patent red.

The shoe choice was not my first choice tonight. I had the most perfect peep-toe slingbacks ready to go. But they rubbed the ball of my foot wrong and I knew I was going to be running around at the pageant. So I went with safe & comfort.

The slingbacks I had intended to slip on tonight:

Oh well, c’est la vie. And now I wish you a very good night.

Until next time,

Jules

Easter Brunch

Mmmm, my mom sure does put on a pretty brunch! It’s buffet-style!

And she always makes everything so pretty! We dined al fresco.

And the drink table was lovely too!

Have a Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Sunday! It’s a beautiful day to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.

We don’t go “all out” for the kids, I kept it pretty simple. A little candy in their baskets, and then a clothing item.

20120408-075531.jpg

My oldest (he will be 13 next month) is obsessed with skinny jeans. So that pile of green & black checks? Yes, those are pants for him! I found them at Salvation Army for $3.88. He will be thrilled.

They all got a package of peeps (in the color they requested!) a miniature Lindt Bunny & Chick, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs (except my youngest, as he is unable to eat peanuts), and a few other candy items.

And later, we will have an egg hunt

20120408-075734.jpg

And then eat cookies!

20120408-075802.jpg

And maybe a bunny

20120408-075826.jpg

I know I want a macaron, as I have some in my fridge. These cookies really get better after 4-5 days in the fridge!!

20120408-075916.jpg

What are you doing to celebrate today? We will have a small service here at the house this afternoon, we normally attend our church on Saturday night, but I was feeling ill last night so I didn’t make it. They will have it online later this afternoon.

Happy Resurrection Day! What an amazing gift our Lord gave us all those years ago. Matthew 28:1-8

Until next time,

Jules
