Lucky Belle

Today I took Belle out on her first adventure. You know, initially I wasn’t going to buy her, and then I wasn’t sure if I was going to KEEP her. But alas, another novelty bag sucks me in!!

I had planned to go get Chinese food for lunch, but ended up on the other side of town. However I went home and made myself a plate of spicy pan-fried noodles:

So yummy. I always regret it a bit later (they are HOT. The sauce is a sesame garlic with chili paste & hot mustard!), but it’s totally worth it. I could live off noodles! And bread. Oh and any carb-like substance!!

My outfit:

  1. Blouse: Nanette Lepore
  2. Skirt: Escada (thrifted, I’ve had this piece for 6+ years! My sister found it for about $6)
  3. Belt: thrifted
  4. Shoes: Coach, I added Siam crystals to the pointed part, the back is glitter.
  5. Necklace & bracelet: Kate Spade
  6. Watch: Omega (my husbands, but I’ve essentially stolen it.)
  7. Handbag: Kate Spade, outlet exclusive from about a month ago. These sold out SO fast.

Tomorrow I start in on a HUGE cake project…sugar flowers anyone? I’m excited for this one, I don’t often get to make sugar flowers!

Until next time,

PS: Eugene is doing well, he says hello. Him and Lady are happily engaged. (He moves fast!)

Weekend Recap!

I realize it’s Tuesday, and not Monday. Buuuttttt, yesterday was a day to reconnect with some old neighbors from when we lived in Texas, and it was a lot of driving. I forget how it is in Texas, it’s unheard of to drive 2 hours each way for dinner! (Normal here! For where we live anyway)

I didn’t snap an outfit photo on Saturday, but I wore my black & white Adette dress. My daughter and I found some lovely spots!

Sugarfina (where has this been all my life?!)

The American Girl Store (where Caroline Abbot joined our family):

Sunday a friend was driving through town and wanted to go get apple pie. Well, what’s a girl to do?! WHIP ONE UP! DUH!

Give me 3 hours notice and I’ll whip up an almost-from-scratch pie. I did cheat and add fresh slices apples to a single can of pre-made filling (so there would be a combination of crisp & soft apples). My first apple pie actually, and it was DEVOURED! Mmmmm.

Sunday’s ensemble:

Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: It’s a Wrap
Shoes: Kate Spade
Bag: Wise Owl Quinn (Kate Spade)

Yesterday I wore this to work:

Dress: Kate Spade Corley
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Coach (off eBay, about $7)

I did switch out my shoes to my Montana Strassed Louboutins for dinner last night & changed to my navy striped Kate Spade belt. I did not snap a photo. Shoot, we didn’t even snap any photos with our friends! OOPS!

And finally, today:

Dress & Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Necklace: Kate Spade

Tomorrow I’m catching a ride with my husband as he has to travel up north for work. Trying to decide if I am going to spend Thursday exploring Walnut Creek area, OR if I am going to hop on the BART and spend the day in San Francisco, explore Union Square, etc. You know, the things not possible when sight seeing with 6 humans under 25!! (When we were in the city last summer)

Have a wonderful day!

Until next time,

Mid-Week Slump

Oh my, it’s been hot & humid lately! Yesterday I spent the day in the kitchen (oh yay!) prepping & baking for a couple of big cakes this week. Had to start early due to the weather. Needless to say, my attire left MUCH to be desired, as by the end of the day I had chocolate all over my top & skirt (I kind of skipped the “hey wear an apron” step. Oops!) so, yeah. Let’s just forget yesterday ever happened!

Today though, I threw this one to run around with my mini-me this morning. I’m starting her out early on the beauty of thrifting!

Dress: Banana Republic
Shoes: Coach
Handbag: Kate Spade

The shoes have a funny story. I recently found a lot of shoes on eBay, and snagged four pair for $35 (incl shipping) The seller was awesome, as she actually sent me five pairs! So that ended up being $7 a pair! I’ll probably only keep 3 of the pairs (sandals, which is what I was looking for), and pass the heels on to a friend. Even still, fantastic deal!

Goodwill has great deals all summer too. Kids clothing this week was $1.98, and I found some Ralph Lauren dresses for my daughter that were also half off. One had the tags still! Can’t beat that.

Hope you are beating the heat. I’m hanging out waiting on UPS. I have some exciting things coming from Nordstrom!

Until next time,

Big Recap!

Woah, I’ve been running pretty much non-stop since last Thursday! I haven’t even been instagramming much, for me anyway (as I am completely an Instagram addict!!). The last few weeks of school is always hectic, and add in the Relay for Life cancer event on May 31/June 1, well, there ya go!

That said, some outfit recaps. I have stuck to wearing only dresses, however I have repeated some, as I get stuck in a “rut” when I feel either self-conscious or am completely pressed for time. It’s just easier to throw on something I love! Bad, I know!!

Friday: (a 2-dress day!)

Dress: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Outfit #2 (terrible photos, I know!)

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Belt: It’s a Wrap
Handbag: Kate Spade

Saturday I baked ALL DAY. I busted out around 200+ French Macarons for orders this week (as you know, macarons are better after 3-4 days). My baking “outfit”:

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Dress: Target (Thrifted, $2.50)
Shoes: BARE FEET!! (This happens all the time when I am home, it’s soooo bizarre!)

Sunday I spent the day in LA. Had a great time, scored some amazing vintage pieces at a thrift shop. Now to decide if I keep them or sell them! But I wore this for the “fun”:

Cardigan: Talbots (Thrifted, $6-ish)
Dress: Kate Spade Corley Dress
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Strassed by Moi
Coin Purse: Kate Spade currently on sale in different colours for $29.99 (did I mention Kate Spade is having a surprise sale?!)

And finally, today:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Trina Turk (Thrifted)
Belt: handmade
Shoes: Coach (old!!)
Handbag: Kate Spade

Yes, Kate Spade is having a surprise sale!!! Some amazing bargains on many cute dresses. Head over and find something fabulous! I think I am passing this time around, but then again it goes until Thursday, so one never knows. I’m sort of holding out for this weekend as my favorite outlet has some new stock in that I’ve been waiting for.

Oh my. To learn self control. I must one of these days.

Have a wonderful week!

Until next time,

Well, in my dreams I suppose I spent today in Monaco! Why you ask? Because I was rocking one of the new Kate Spade dresses from next months collection, destination: Monaco!

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Coach
Handbag: Kate Spade

Isn’t the stripes TO DIE FOR?! I instantly fell in love. I actually got to try on all the new dresses for next month (silly me didn’t snap any selfies in the dressing room!!), and there are some super cute ones. I also got to finally see the Lemon print dress in my size, and it’s off my wish list now. (That doesn’t mean if I see if for an incredible price I won’t buy it, but it’s not a “must-have”) I didn’t see anything else in the Monaco collection that is a “omg, I NEED this”, mainly because my cardigan collection has gotten so large, I already have all the colours! But this dress was killer. So versatile!

For sizing, it seems to run right on par with Kate Spade’s sizing, I took a 00, and it could be a touch smaller in the waist area, but is perfect everywhere else. It also has pockets, and I adore the length! I’m 5’5 in flat feet (last trip to my Dr, it seems I had grown half an inch in the last few years. Crazy, right?!), and it hits just below my knees, which is really ideal for me. Today was a super blustery day and there was no flashing anyone, this dress is a nice heavy cotton and stays put! Living in a wind tunnel, this is important!!

Thanks to the gals at Newport Fashion Island Kate Spade store for such a fun morning exploring the new stuff, and finally getting to try on some of the Capri pieces in my size. Can’t wait to do it again!

Go out and see the Monaco collection, I think it’s my favorite yet in the “Year of Travel”. But I will refrain from making a final decision until the end of 2014, as who knows what wonderful things my favorite brand has in store.

Until next time,

Tuesday Musings

Another weekend gone, as fall moves is into cooler weather I realize the holidays are looming!! This year, I am prepared to tackle Christmas head on!

But anyway, while I am prepared for Christmas, I have not been prepared and taking outfit photographs. Partly out of sheer laziness, partly due to the fact I spent the majority of Friday/Saturday helping a dear friend pack and move house.

Sooo, photos I did take:

Free People cardigan that I wore with a hot pink skirt last Friday.

Cardigan: Target
Skirt: Ann Taylor
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Blouse: Thrifted
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simple 85mm, patent grey
Handbag: Coach

Kids are still on break this week, have some fun adventures planned, if I can get my to-do list finished! Super crazy 10 days ahead of me.

Until next time,

Navy & White + Purple Sparkle

Happy Friday! *twirls with glee* (yes I do this, and often!)

It’s a beautiful sunny morning, and it’s shaping up to be an amazon weekend. For you Disneyland fans, today is “Monsterous Summer”, in which Disney parks stay open for 24 hours. Ohhhh how I longed to go! But then I saw photographs friends of mine started posting at 6am (it’s 6am-6am!!), and realized it was a very good thing I have a packed day close to home!! Perhaps I will convince my crew to hit the parks on Monday morning.

Anyway, just had to mention that. I still secretly wish I was there.

My outfit today (I have some casual meetings)

Top: Kohls
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Nina, painted and Strassed by me
Handbag: Coach

I’m super excited for tomorrow! I’m taking my oldest child with me to shop in LA and see a play tomorrow. I’m also going to try and hunt down some food trucks. 14-yr old boys, they love to eat! Might as well enjoy some good food, right? And hit some of my favorite little treasure spots for various things.

Any big plans this weekend?

Until next time,
