Happy July! The month where we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy year round as Americans. How are you planning on spending your 4th of July? My husband and I are in the unique position of being kid-free this year (WHAT?!), and so we are skipping out on anything traditional and I am dragging him to Disneyland for an adult day of adventure. (Poor man, he is a saint) Until then, I still have to be a responsible adult, as I have a wedding looming + several cake orders to prep for before we go!

Today I wore this:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade
  2. Belt: secondhand
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  4. Necklace: thrifted pearls with a vintage brooch

Speaking of wedding prep….I spent last night sorting candy for the candy bar:

Sigh. I know. I have issues. If only my overflowing closet looked as tidy as these little piles.

Until next time,

The last few days have been a whirlwind!!! I had a rather large wedding, well maybe just super detailed this weekend and the fun started bright and early Friday morning with a trip to the flower market.

My outfit Friday:

Blouse: thrifted
Skirt: off eBay
Shoes: Strassed Christian Louboutin flats

And then yesterday, I wore this, because as a wedding designer, one must dress up:

Jacket: Banana Republic
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Montana Strassed Christian Louboutin

Hey, we had tons of running around, of course I’m going to wear the most comfortable shoes. *grins* Actually they are one of my most comfortable pairs, my legs are stiffer than my feet are sore this morning, merely because we were up and down stairs all afternoon.

Some shots from the wedding:

Me and my team did all the decor, and the specialty linens. And the candy bar of course! I did not get photographs once the tables were fully set and the candles were lit, but it was STUNNING.

And my personal favorite, we snagged the key to the bridal suite, got housekeeping to clean it up and added some special touches:

We actually placed flowers all OVER the room, along with candy from the candy bar, a dessert plate and wine from their ceremony. We were just in a rush and forgot to snap photos! But perhaps that is better, it’s a nice private memory for the bride and groom.

Love my job and my crew! Now the cleanup begins!! Laundry and my house is a disaster!! But we have plenty of spare candy.

Until next time,

Independence Day

First, Happy 4th of July! I am most thankful to be an American, and proud of the heritage of our country.

Second, the past 24 hours has thrown our family a little upside down. Both sides lost a family member yesterday morning, in fact they passed within minutes of each other, two souls who never met! We do not mourn them, instead we celebrate their lives and the fact that they are no longer in pain here on earth. That said, it was the most difficult moment as a parent I’ve encountered yet, having to tell the children.

So in honour of my grandfather, build a cake and play some show tunes!! *smiles* I’m just glad he was around to see the 6-tier creation I made when The Engineer and I got married 3 years ago. I wish I had inherited his musical ability as well, but I shall leave that to my baby sister, who is quite talented in that department!

On a lighter note, I am keeping up with wearing something different. In fact, I’m on outfit #2 at this point!

Today I started in this, as I had crafting to do:

Top: Target
Shorts: Kate Spade

And have since changed into this for dinner & fireworks:

Top: Target (same as above)
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

As you can see, I never did make my bed today! Instead I worked on the details for a candy bar for this weekend and did mani-pedis with my mini-me.

Candy bar details:

Yes, I put crystals on the tags! Why not!

And glitter nails:

Hope you have a safe and sparkly 4th of July!!!

Until next time,
