Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Oooooooo, Monday we meet again! With school out, my oldest gone for the summer, and all the productions over, I finally feel back to “normal”, whatever that is!

My outfit today:

  1. Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
  2. Belt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Jimmy Choo

We had taco Monday:

Mmmmmmm. I fry my shells in coconut oil and they are so so SO good that way!

Until next time,

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

We have had some jam-packed days, and today has been “crash” day! (As in, I wore PJs all day. Something I never do!!) Yesterday was the family Christmas Eve I always host, and as always, there was lots of food & desserts!!

Karaoke & presents:

My festive outfit:

Cardigan: JCrew Kids
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: made by me
Shoes: Light Siam Strassed Jimmy Choo Flats
Necklace: Burlington

Today I made homemade cinnamon rolls:

And we had lots more presents:

Yikes, a new computer! I may have to start blogging properly!!! Or as it was a gift from my boss, perhaps it’s a hint to make the office run electronically instead of all the paper! (Probably not, but I imagine I will joke about it!!)

And then we have our 3rd annual holiday tradition, hobbit-watching!!

And leftovers:

I hope your Christmas was as blessed and wonderful as ours was! We had lots of family, lots of food (I feel as if I spent the last two days cooking!!), and now to crash.

Happy Christmas!!

Good Friday

Wow, it doesn’t feel like Easter weekend! I imagine it is because my husband and I packed up and are headed to Northern California for a wedding. Yes, we left the kids behind! I feel guilty as a mom, but my parents have them, and I know my kids are most likely (okay, totally likely!!) to be more excited about grandma & grandpa than mom & dad!!

That said, I’m glad we didn’t drag them, I did all the desserts for this wedding and the car is precariously packed, in hopes the French Macarons all survive the 6+ hour trip!!

My travel ensemble:

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrift
Shoes: Kate Spade

And this is why I haven’t been posting this week, I have become a cookie. Or at least it feels like it!!! French Macarons, iced sugar cookies, sugar cookies, cake balls, a small cake & some other cookies. Some teaser photos:

I’m excited to set it all up tomorrow and share photos! I also am finally going to wear the sequin Kate Spade Emma dress, eeks!!! I probably won’t post again until Sunday, I have terrible cell service where we will be. But on Sunday my husband and I are headed to Santa Cruz to celebrate his birthday, and just have some time away with nowhere to be!! I found an adorable boutique hotel and we will hit the boardwalk….it’ll be a first for both of us! I’ll take it, it’s not always easy to find things new to “us”, one of the hazards of a second marriage! But I wouldn’t change a thing in my life, the good OR the bad.

Because life is that, an experience!!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend, and those out on the road, travel safe! And travel colorfully!

Until next time,

Happy Christmas Eve!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Food Moments

Mmmm, we’ve been running almost all weekend, drama, piano, church, yard work, planting more flowers, 15 trips to the hardware store (well, not really, like 5, but it feels like more!!!), birthday shopping, so I did an easy “appetizer” night.

Pot stickers (oh man I love these!! I fry ours in grapeseed oil, it’s amazing), artichoke red pepper appetizers (soooo easy to make, and they look so pretty!). Ice cream for the kids later, and an ice cream shake for me that I picked up on one of my store runs! (it’s got caffeine, which I need today!)

I started dessert first though!!

My artichoke appetizers, it’s so simple! Here’s how I make mine (I adapted a recipe I found online, I didn’t like their ingredient list, it used onion!)

Jules’ Artichoke Appetizers

14oz marinated artichoke hearts
8oz cream cheese
1/2c Parmesan cheese
Chopped sweet red peppers (to taste)
Juice of one lemon
Garlic powder & salt to taste
Phyllo Dough Squares

Preheat oven to 375, fill mini muffin tins with phyllo dough squares. Set aside.

I chop the artichokes and red peppers, and throw everything in the bowl and mix. You can put the artichokes, cream cheese, lemon, & Parmesan cheese in a food processer (the only one I own is strictly for making almond meal for French Macarons).

After mixing everything, put the artichoke mixture into the phyllo cups. Sprinkle parmesean cheese on top (optional, I like the kick), and bake at 375 for 18 minutes (please note that I have a wicked crazy oven, so you might have to cook longer. Mine runs hot, but I am always baking, so I adjust accordingly. My oven and I are great great friends 90% of the time. The other 10% I want to kill her)

Enjoy! These are delicious!! And they are bite sized!!

Don’t forget, giveaway closes tomorrow!!

Until next time,

Bean Dip

In honor of a very dear friend of mine, some nostalgia

All the ingredients for bean dip!! Oh man, did we eat a TON of this stuff back in the day!

I made it for bible study tomorrow and also for dinner at my house (we are having a mish-mosh tomorrow)

Yum yum!

Until next time,

This afternoon I decided to make pizza for dinner! It’s always a happy event, I make it from scratch, and personally, I think my crust (after 50+ bad pizzas!!) is as good or better than a local pizza joint we like.

I did mini pizza for 3 of the 4 children, so they got to choose their own toppings:

My husband and my eldest like “everything” pizza. Although I wa out of onions and olives, oops!!

And moi? I like pepperoni, pineapple, an jalapeƱos on mine (but I didn’t have any jalapeƱos!! I’ll have to put red pepper on it!)

Mmmm. Yummy!

Until next time,
