Dessange California Blonde Review

This month I received a “VoxBox” from Influenster (a site that sends you free stuff to try and review…this was actually my first one), full of Dessange hair care products. Now being a gal who colors her hair almost as much as she changes handbags, I am ALWAYS looking for the perfect shampoo/conditioner. Anything with purple is even better (hello brassy hair!).

Let’s start with the shampoo & conditioner. I like it, it has a nice scent, did not leave my hair greasy or limp, but I didn’t see a change in my hair color or any “illuminating” from it. However, like I said, the scent is nice (and let’s face it…..I buy shampoo for the smell most of the time, tell me gals you have done this very same thing before!!), and I would buy it again. It has a nice light floral scent, and I was able to go 3 days between washes, and my hair still smelled decent! (HUGE awesomeness right there) So, a decent shampoo, decent price range, and available at Target. My local stores have a great display of the entire range! I feel for the price point, it’s a good product.

* I do wish it was sulfate-free, as I still have yet to find a sulfate-free shampoo that doesn’t RUIN my hair. Alas, chemicals here I come!!

But my FAVORITE product out of the 3 I was sent is this stuff:

It’s like purple shampoo on steroids. Seriously, if you have dyed blonde hair that tends to go brassy, this is BRILLIANT. As you can see I have been making MUCH use out of this tube, and I will be buying it again when this one is gone! I have noticed that my highlights have not been as brassy, and it leaves my hair very bouncy. I’m in love with it.

So, thank you Influenster and Dessange for these wonderful products! While I may not purchase the shampoo/conditioner (let’s face it, I’m a shampoo cheater!), the CC Cream has become a “‘must have”!

Until next time,

*I was sent the mentioned products free of charge in exchange for my unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

What I’m Wearing

I so wanted to be sparkly today! (wear my strassed shoes!) But alas, I must embrace practicality due to errands and my schedule today!

The Rundown:
Cardigan: Target (I wear this often!)
Top: Calypso for Target (last summer, bought on sale)
Skirt: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Nina jellies with crystals
Handbag: Kate Spade

I suppose I am patriotic today! I am not going to touch politics, but our country’s sad state does worry me.

On a lighter note. I have a heck of a time keeping polish on my fingernails. Like, 24hrs is a miracle. I’ve been using the Gelish system. It’s a gel that is cured under a UV light. It’s fantastic!!! I ❤ a French manicure (and fake nails are so not an option), so I did this yesterday (normally I just do clear, it lasts about 7-9 days). I hope it lasts? My toes match too! Although, Gelish toes last 2-3 weeks for me.

Totally worth the investment. I simply don’t have time to go get mani/pedi these days. The salon isn’t open at 9pm!

Happy Tuesday!

Until next time,

BirchBox Day!

Yay! I’ve been reading blog posts about this month’s BirchBox for the past few days, and I was excited to see mine come this month!! The theme is “Gossip Girl”.

Special black packaging

Pretty “sleeve”

The box itself is the same (I love these boxes!! They reuse so nicely!)

The theme continues (I love how they always wrap it!)

And score!

A full-size Stila eyeliner, a large sample of DrJart BB cream (I already use this! Not this particular one, but the same brand. I love it!! This will be great for travel!), Ojon Shampoo, a cute notecard, a hair band thingy, and a perfume sample. Honestly I wish they didn’t put perfume samples in, I have such a sensitive nose, 90% of all perfume gives me a wicked headache!! I was hoping for the pretty gold nail polish some subscribers received!!

All in all, the best box yet. I was considering canceling, as I was not terribly impressed with my 2 previous boxes. I am curious as to why not everyone gets the same contents in their box!

Thoughts on this?

Travel Beauty

Traveling is hard for me, streamlining, packing, cutting down what I want to take to what I really have room to take!

Some beauty tips while traveling that I go by:

Plan in advance. What I mean by this, is just like I planned my outfits (an still changed things around!), plan your beauty routine around you wardrobe as well. I like to coordinate eyeshadow to my blouse, or maybe my skirt, etc. so I pack eye makeup accordingly.

I have super sensitive skin, so I am unable to be brand loyal to any one brand. An eyeshadow from one brand might be okay, but the blush from that same brand will make my skin break out and get irritated (I.E. mineral makeup gives me the effect of a chemical peel without any of the benefits!!)

So this trip I brought:
Eyeshadow: Artistry & MAC palettes (the Artistry palette was created by Francis Hathaway, a very well know makeup artist)
Mascara: Artistry (<3 this!! It's about $12, and in my opinion, beats DiorShow hands down)
Blush: Artistry baked blush (LE Fall 2011, fanfreaking tastic color!!)
Face powder: Victoria's Secret Pearls (I used to use Guerlain, but the new formula breaks my skin out)
Foundation: DrJart+ Beauty Balm (this is amazing!!! And it doesn't break me out like most foundation I've ever worn, plus it's very sheer)
Moisturizer: Artistry Creme Luxury (wow, this one is killer. Worth every penny)

Victoria's Secret "shimmer" pearls

Artistry’s Baked Blush (I love love love this!!)

How do you streamline your beauty routine when you travel?

Headed home from an incredible weekend. (perhaps one last peek into the Kate Spade outlet in Primm. Maybe) Bye bye Vegas, see you next year!

Until next time,

What I’m Wearing

Day two of our conference, and after running around yesterday in my orange wedges, oh boy, I have blisters!! (and this is why I do not normally buy inexpensive shoes, or non-leather shoes!!)

So I had planned on wearing this

Same thing I wore last Tuesday, but with a different blouse. Alas, my poor footsies are not cooperating!

So, I threw this together with my trusty Jimmy Choo black flats, and the yellow Kate Spade bag I carried around yesterday

The Rundown:
Jacket: Kate Spade Loren Jacket, off eBay
Blouse: Kate Spade
Skirt: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrifted, $1
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Kate Spade Maryann

Here is a closeup of my blouse, the detail is truly beautiful!

And now to find some tea (I rarely drink coffee), a bagel (yummy!) and settle down for a nice day at the Orleans Arena learning words of wisdom from John Maxwell.

And be very thrilled I’m not outside or at home. The weather is simply dreadful! It’s all raining and overcast here in Vegas, it’s even slightly humid. My hair!! Good for the skin though!

I’m using a new beauty product, Dr Jart+ Beauty Balm. It’s a serum, moisturizer, and foundation all in one. So far, I ❤ it. My skin is happy and "glowy".

Stay dry, and if are in the Midwest, stay safe! This weather is brutal!!

Until next time,

April BirchBox

I came home from picking up children to my April BirchBox! Yay!

I ❤ the presentation!

This month they have a “natural” theme

It has:

J.R. Watkins Hand and Cuticle Salve
Mmmm, lavender! Love this stuff already, perfect to throw in my purse!

Willa Lavender Cleansing Facial Cloths
Well, they smell yummy. I’m going to take them on my next trip and see how they work. My face is so sensitive!

Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck Fragrance
I don’t know about this one. But I always find uses for minis!

Zoya Nailpolish. Pretty matte spring green color!

And the “extra” was a sample packets of laundry soap! Yay! Free laundry!!

That’s all! I realized I never reviewed last month, oops! I’ll have to do that one day.

So far, I like BirchBox, we shall see!

Until next time,
