Hearts Month

I know for many February brings Valentine’s Day, and if you are single it may make you sad. Personally I don’t put too much stock in it, other than it being a reason to send my girlfriends ridiculous cards, wear pink and red with wild abandon and embrace the glitter everywhere! My husband and I don’t go overboard, usually it’s a card and I cook dinner. Terribly boring!

Some recent outfits….as I’ve not even been keeping up on Instagram, we leave in 4 days for Walt Disney World and going with 4 kids and 2 parents is vastly different than going solo and meeting girlfriends! I hate packing lists, but I’m using one for this trip!

Obviously it’s a very mild “winter” out here in California, sandals and light cardigans have really been all I’ve needed lately. I drool over the beautiful coats I see on social media, but then remember cold hands and noses and am very grateful we live in California!

Very few recent acquisitions this year, I did pick up a few secondhand items, but I haven’t been moved to anything new. I posted last night on Instagram and Twitter about an awful experience I had with Kate Spade recently, and how sad I am so see their customer service decline in the way it has. I won’t recap it again, other than I have been contacted by the company. It makes me sad that one has to turn to social media instead of handling things quietly behind the scenes to garner a response to what was a frustrating and unnecessary situation. Alas, it is what it is. I will say I am trying to curb my consumerism, and perhaps this was what I needed to be more thoughtful about shopping.

Time will tell! I won’t be changing my blog name anytime soon, as my wardrobe is still full of Kate Spade. I may not use as many tags, and I probably won’t keep up with fashion week and new collections as much.

Expect many Disney photos in the near future!

  1. Valentine’s Day is tough for me because I’m going through a sudden and difficult break up (but then again, most everything is difficult right now 😦 ). I’m just planning on steamrolling right on past Valentine’s Day this year!
    It is so unfortunate to see service and quality deteriorate like that- there is no reason for it other than a push for profits. I’m currently on a “shop my closet” push, and seeing things like this only make me think it’s going to be a pretty permanent change. The retail world is not what it once was! You are much more composed than I would be. Given the vocal support you’ve given them (and free publicity), this is ridiculous!

    • Oh my dear, I am so very sorry to read you are going through a rough time. Be gentle with yourself, and I like to say “be your own Valentine”. I’ve been there, heartbreak is never pretty. Being on the other end of it, I can say it forced me to grow and become a better human being. I don’t miss the person I was a decade ago. 😘 Feel free to hate on sappy couples and be miserable for a bit, a good cry is part of healing.

      Yeah, sad about the KS situation, but it is what it is. I can’t change it, and I’m not going to let it ruin my love for the pieces I already own! I will wear them proudly, I just may not be adding to them! 😂

      Hey, at the end of the day my glass is still half full, and for that I am very grateful.

  2. I saw your post yesterday, and I was SO disappointed. I’ve been very disappointed in the quality since the Coach acquisition anyway… but it’s even more frustrating that you, as a evident and valuable customer, went through that to get a refund. I know that I had a similar frustrating experience on a package that wasn’t delivered and never got a refund, so I’m glad that you got what was due.

    • Oh no! I am so sorry you didn’t receive a refund. Yes, according to corporate their new policy is “once ups picks it up we are no longer responsible”. KILLS me.

      I mean I’ve had issues with the warehouse for always…I can’t tell you how many times I would have stuff missing from my orders. They seemed to sort that out a couple years ago.

      I know package theft is on the rise (I blame the news covering it, gives people ideas!), but I insure everything, isn’t that what insurance is for?! UPS and FedEx aren’t supposed to just leave things anymore, but sometimes they do. I even hold my mail anytime I’m not home. I do everything possible to eliminate missing or stolen packages. Where we live the local police won’t even take a report anymore, they can’t keep up, which makes the groups who troll around looking for things to steal even bolder! Sigh.

      Makes me sad! Our society is turning into “all about yourself and no one else”. Breaks my heart!
