Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

February 1st

Oh my, is it February already?! I know I haven’t blogged in nearly a week, it’s been all I could do to keep up with daily life this past week! I also picked a bad week to have a pile of items sell on eBay, which on one hand is a good thing, but on another hand when you want to curl into a ball and sleep non-stop, it can be ever so slightly frustrating! Thank goodness USPS picks up!!!

Anyway, shall we recap my disastrous “no-shop January?”. While I did really good the first 9 days of the month, I caved when I found a skirt at a thrift shop in Los Angeles for $2. One that I regretted not purchasing back in 2005!! Behold, my Banana Republic $2 skirt:

And then I found this Kate Spade skirt I’ve hunted for YEARS on a secondhand site. Now at this point I had sold well over $800 of clothing/shoes/accessories on Ebay, and so spending $35 of that on a skirt that is nearly impossible to find, well, yeah:

And then it was all over. January seems to be the month of cheap secondhand clothing, and I simply couldn’t resist picking up some older pieces I have been hunting for for ages:

Left to right: (all Kate Spade)
Red Sonia Dress via Nordstrom Rack (however I had gift cards, so this one did not come out of my eBay earnings or personal funds) On Sale for $99

Jillian Stripe Dress, under $50, secondhand. So glad I passed this one up when i saw it new for $80-ish a couple years ago!

Striped “blouse” with a navy skirt dress, under $50

Jillian Polka Dot Dress under $50

Yellow Brocade Shift Dress with Belt. I have been hunting for this one for AGES! I have the pink flowery one, the Anemone one, and was so excited to find this one! It was more expensive than the other 3 I bought secondhand, but still under $100.

And then I picked up a dress my husband bought me at the outlet this past week, and spotted this:

Yes, that was a HAVE to have. It was on sale and not terrible. All in all, I spent under $300, and ended up selling over $1500 worth of stuff on eBay, so the whole experiment was a success. Can I go a month without shopping? Sigh. Probably not!! On the bright side I am not terribly excited about Kate Spade’s offerings this coming year, and my “wish list” for older pieces is down to single digits.

Did you do a no-shop January? I hope you did better than I did!! It did encourage me to be more thoughtful about my spending, and I also did some closet cleaning. The biggest thing was staying out of local thrift stores and target!!!

Some outfit recaps this week (when I haven’t been living in PJs and sleeping off tooth pain!)

This was Wednesday, when I ran down to Palm Springs for a family matter.

Cardigan: JCrew
Dress: Kate Spade Navy Roset
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade

Thursday, I pulled out my pants & stole my husband’s sweater, it was warm and cozy!

Sweater: ??
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Friday, it was back to work:

Cardigan: Kate Spade

Shoes: Jimmy Choo

And since yesterday I lounged in my PJ’s, here’s today:

Cardigan: Ann Taylor (3+ years old)
Dress: Kate Spade

This was the dress my husband bought me at the outlet. I had tried it on last year, and we hesitated to purchase, and then I decided it needed to go more on sale! So glad I waited!

Anyway, this week I go back to the dentist for them to finish the work that was started last week. I am nervous, but it was a fairly easy procedure last week, and I’m hoping I will sleep through the procedure this week. In so ready for this to all be over!

Until next time,
