50 Shades of Blue

Now let me first say, I am not planning on seeing the 50 shades movie, nor will I, nor do I feel it is a good work of literature. I will read just about anything (I love reading!), but not that!! I am reading a great book right now:

It’s a fascinating fictional account of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife Zelda. I adore historical fiction, and while this is not my normal “century”, I have enjoyed it!

Anyway, off books and on to clothing. Today ended up being a 2-outfit day, due to the wind deciding to start blowing sometime between 8:15am and 9:30am while I was at the chiropractor. So I changed my dress for one more wind-proof, but left everything else the same!

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Dresses: 1st: Kate Spade Mariella Dress (re-released at the outlet shops this week!); 2nd: Kate Spade Elza Dress. Both are from the Capri collection in 2014
  3. Belt: Kate Spade (outlet, spring ’14)
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo, strassed
  5. Handbag: Kate Spadr Rachelle, with a lemon bag charm

And with that, I’m off to enjoy my Friday afternoon. I have the afternoon “off”, which translates into about 2 hours of quiet time in which I will veg out on my couch and listen to the wind howl, while feeling guilty I’m not cleaning the house. It’s hard to let go, but I realize the house does not have to be perfect 24/7!

Until next time,

Phoning It In

Today that was me, totally, utterly “phoning it in”, clothing wise! I started the day in pants, or should I say “slacks”, and then swapped them out for a skirt when I ran out of the house for errands this afternoon. Of course I was so busy baking I didn’t get photos in my first outfit. I did for the second one…and honestly? I was not feeling it. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t feeling extraordinary today? Not sure, but I sure was feeling macaron-making!

First my outfit:

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Blouse: Elle (Kohls)
  3. Skirt: Kate Spade
  4. Belt: Kate Spade
  5. Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Today was a major baking day. See, it started yesterday when I went to the dentist. And walked out with a handful of macaron orders. I had to bake already today, so what was 8 dozen more macarons?! I also did a new flavour, Key Lime Pie (key lime buttercream with biscoff cookie crumbles!)

It was soooo good. And tomorrow? It will be even better!!!! I also made a cake, my white chocolate cake with fresh strawberries, covered in my strawberry buttercream (that is more buttery than sweet. It’s divine), for a colleague of my husband’s wife. He was SO excited about this cake, it just reminded me WHY I love to bake, because of how happy it makes others! I do hope his wife loves it, and t lives up the the “hype”!! (I had sent cupcakes a few weeks ago of the same cake/icing combo to my husbands office. I think it’s even better in a cake though. It smelled sooooooo amazing)

Yes, I had TV on the iPad….Reign on the CW. I just love seeing the costumes!!!!

And finally I finished this little project, for my youngest who requested it for a special event coming up. I love that he wants something sparkly to go with my shoes for our outing!!

My youngest kills it! Well and my middle son, he always wears a sparkly bow tie to events! It’s kind of their “thing”. The girls dig it too.

And now, off to bed. I excited for next week, my schedule slows down a bit and I get a “do-nothing” day!! Of course all my insanity IS self inflicted, but it sure is fun to run like a madwoman!!

Until next time,

On Wednesday We Wear Pink!

Okay, not that I subscribe to that theory, but it sounded fun for today! I finally pulled out my newest Carolyn dress, one that took me years to find in my size! The one that matches my favorite water cup:

  1. Cardigan: Ann Taylor Outlet (3+ years old)
  2. Dress: Kate Spade Carolyn
  3. Belt: Kate Spade
  4. Shoes: Jimmy Choo
  5. Handbag: Kate Spade
  6. Cup: Starbucks

I am in love with this dress! I love the black & cream one I have as well. To me this is a classic Kate Spade dress, like the Jillian! I wish they would design more in these two styles with fresh fabrics. *crosses fingers*

Until next time,

Coming up Roses

I hunted this skirt for ages, finally finding it in my size on evil bay, I mean eBay. I LOVE IT! Pink? Flowers? AND SEQUINS?! Yes please!!

  1. Cardigan: Kate Spade
  2. Skirt: Kate Spade
  3. Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simple 100
  4. Handbag: Kate Spade Rachelle in Ballet Slipper

I probably could have worn a bolder colour of cardigan, but I love the flower detail on this one! I spent the majority of my day in the kitchen making macarons for orders, which means my reality was socks, not my Louboutin heels!

Sorry about the change in format, I updated WordPress today and am still trying to work out what it’s all about!

Until next time,

Monday Blues

Oh my, it’s gloomy here in California!!!! All overcast, rainy, and COLD! (For us….it’s been in the 40-50’s all day) The overcast and rain really does a number on me, I was achy all day yesterday, and today is just as miserable! Yesterday we stayed home as a family in our pjs and binged on Disney movies.

I also made these:

My goal was for them to look like sea glass. Or as if someone poured a bag of crystals on them. It’s for one of my summer brides, and she is in love with them! (Hey, what wedding planner do you know that also embellishes the shoes?! Or in some cases, the shoes are the “something borrowed”.)

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Barney’s (online warehouse sale)
Shirt: Target (or Kohls? I cut the tags out and can never remember!)
Skirt: Vintage (and a total staple!! This $6 skirt has been worth every penny!!)
Belt: eBay
Necklace: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag: Kate Spade

Happy Monday!!

Until next time,

Mom’s Day Out

Today I played Mom Taxi, went to Disneyland for a couple of hours, has Earl of Sandwich, hit up Kate Spade at The Citadel in LA, and even got in a bit of work before playing Mom Taxi again!!! And was even home by 4!

My outfit:

Cardigan: Boden
Dress: Kate Spade Adette (currently on the clearance rack at the outlets!!)
Belt: Target
Shoes: Crystal AB strassed Manolo Blahnik’s

Disneyland is still being overrun by Frozen:

Earl of Sandwich (which lives up to the hype)

Outlet excess:

As for my purchases? Well, those shall have to wait for another day! I really had fun with the wonderful staff at The Citadel, they were very busy, but still took the time to chat with me, and look for a dress for me! (Which I located and arranged to have it shipped! You know it’s only $5 to ship right?!) They had all the spring line out on display, and if you loved all the lemons last spring? They are BACK!!! They also have the Roset (the hot pink one) as well! I am excited for the items I purchased, and also excited that the new spring items I own most of it, hopefully giving my pocketbook a little bit of a break!!

Hope your Saturday was fabulous!!!

Until next time,

Black Friday

I woke up this morning absolutely dragging! So I threw on what I consider my “workhorse” dress! This is really my “go-to” when I feel blah, but still have to go to work or anything else.

Kate Spade Hope Dress:

Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Off eBay (a pink version of the one I wore yesterday)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

I also carried the same pink bag from yesterday.

I hope your Friday was fabulous!!

Until next time,
