Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Archive for December, 2014

Yes I said snow. In Southern California! It’s been in the forecast for a few days now, and our area FREAKS out about it! This was my view this morning:

Snow clouds!!! Many of my friends have reported snow at their houses, however I just snuck outside (where it is COLD!!), and nada. This is the view on my front porch:

No snow. Hopefully though that changes overnight!

Nevertheless, I stayed home and dressed for “snow”:

Sweater: Banana Republic
Scarf: bought on a cruise
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I spent today washing all my linens and listing a PILE of stuff on eBay. I have decided I am “un shopping” in January. Selling, donating, and/or giving away things. Looking at my 50+ collection of Kate Spade dresses (with two more in the mail on their way here!!), when does one say “enough?!”. So yeah.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2014, and big plans? I’m cooking the traditional large dinner I always cook and we are staying home. Maybe I’ll force everyone to dress for dinner!

Until next time,

The Last Monday

Well, the last Monday of 2014 that is!! Hard to believe 2014 is coming to an end, it just seems like 2013 was ending!!! Time is always flying, isn’t it?

I had some errands to run today, so I gussied myself up in my new Christmas dress and some sparkly heels and away I went!

Cardigan: JCrew Kids
Dress: Kate Spade Jillian (the fabric is very poofy!)
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kate Spade

I’ve been very very bad with online sales/eBay/buying stuff lately. But the result is finding these at a killer price, and the missing stones? Already ordered replacements and they are on their way:

Le sigh. It’s official, January is “No-Shop January”. Still working out the “rules” (the husband says Starbucks counts, so I am arguing that coffee is a requirement, being as we just tossed out the coffee pot this past weekend!), but it will involve sheer willpower to not scour eBay for a few older dresses I still want! Or to cave when some of the holiday stuff goes on sale. I just keep telling myself “it will be there in February!!”. So we shall see how I do.

Two days left in 2014, make them count!

Until next time,

RUN from email!!

Oh heavens, I hope I’m not the only one bombarded by all the after Christmas sale emails!!! I fear my husband and I have caved not once, but TWICE now. OOPS. On the bright side I am not excited about anything coming out clothing wise in 2015, so hopefully that will cull the urge to shop. Le sigh. I do know I have amassed quite a collection of some very beautiful dresses in 2014, and could probably very well never buy another one!!

Anyway, some outfit recaps, starting with what I wore yesterday:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Skirt: French Connection
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag: Kate Spade

Today we went to chaperone the spending of the kids’ Christmas gift cards (and deliver a cake, more on that below):

Cardigan: JCrew Kids (honestly threw this on because it was right there. Not the best look though)
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Target (kids section!!!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Yesterday I finally connected with a client whom there had been a communication breakdown with a week ago (my phone is holding a voicemail hostage from her!!), and so we were able to finalize her sons birthday cake, for delivery TODAY.

Oh my! So I was up into the wee hours this morning with Winnie and Tigger and Piglet:

If I may say so, not bad for a VERY short turn around!!! So cute, and yes everything is made from sugar.

And with that, I’m wiped out! Hope you are enjoying the weekend after Christmas!!

Until next time,

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

We have had some jam-packed days, and today has been “crash” day! (As in, I wore PJs all day. Something I never do!!) Yesterday was the family Christmas Eve I always host, and as always, there was lots of food & desserts!!

Karaoke & presents:

My festive outfit:

Cardigan: JCrew Kids
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: made by me
Shoes: Light Siam Strassed Jimmy Choo Flats
Necklace: Burlington

Today I made homemade cinnamon rolls:

And we had lots more presents:

Yikes, a new computer! I may have to start blogging properly!!! Or as it was a gift from my boss, perhaps it’s a hint to make the office run electronically instead of all the paper! (Probably not, but I imagine I will joke about it!!)

And then we have our 3rd annual holiday tradition, hobbit-watching!!

And leftovers:

I hope your Christmas was as blessed and wonderful as ours was! We had lots of family, lots of food (I feel as if I spent the last two days cooking!!), and now to crash.

Happy Christmas!!

Giveaway Winner!

And even though it is SUPER late, it IS still the 22nd here in California!!!

To calculate a winner I assigned each entry a number (based on when they were received by me), and used

And the winner is…..

Faith Giambattista, an entry received via e-mail. Faith, send me an email with your shipping address please, and I will send this your way:

In other news my husband is starting a new job (and oh what a wonderful blessing it turned out to be!! I am super excited his commute is dropping to 10 miles vs 43 miles! Hello lunch dates!!!!), and they were kind enough to invite us to their Christmas party this past weekend (even though he doesn’t start until next year!). I wore some lovely sequins, AND we took some fun crazy photos:

We are just a couple of goofballs!!! I was exhausted from spending 15 hours at Disneyland on Friday, but managed to keep the yawns at bay until we got in the car! Sunday I wore the same dress for the Christmas Eve dinner shopping run:

Cardigan: JCrew Kids
Dress: Kate Spade (via Bloomingdales. Who has excellent customer service I might add!) It’s on sale right now too!
Shoes: heels-Kate Spade (what I wore Saturday night), flats-Christian Louboutin (they are this gorgeous navy blue with swirls of glitter, like a night sky! You cannot tell in photos)

I have been regulated to the backseat now that my teenager is driving:

And I made a bazillion cake pops yesterday AND my salted chocolate chip cookies. All that’s left for Christmas Eve is the pumpkin pie!!

I did not take an outfit shot today, I’ve been struggling with a wicked migraine and admit to coming home from work and putting on PJs earlier than I care to admit!!! Are you working this week? It hardly feels like Christmas is just two days away. As a kid you never think the magic will go away, but it totally does!!!! Frankly I’m more excited about a 4-day weekend. Tax season starts in January and so the break is very welcome!

Congratulations Faith!

Until next time,

Oh yes, finally, that long anticipated moment by parents and kids alike in the month of December, school holidays!!! Our school is unique in the fact my kids get 3 weeks off. 3 glorious weeks of NOT leaving my house at 7am for the school run! 3 weeks of NO homework! I’m so excited, in fact this is the first time they have gone on break that I haven’t dreaded it. Being a parent is hard for me at times, but as the kids get older, ken joy it more and more.
