I was contacted last week by Weddington Way to put together a look, as if I was a Maid of Honor in an upcoming wedding. As I have never actually BEEN a bridesmaid, this is a unique challenge for me! While I am an event/wedding planner, I’m always on the planning side, never the “up on stage” side. I decided to use a dear friend of mine as my faux “bride”, using two of her favorite colours to create this look: White & Cobalt Blue. Her and I have had many discussions regarding a wedding (when it happens!), and I’ve been fairly adamant about NOT being in her wedding. But there are some adorable dresses out there, I could possibly be persuaded otherwise when the time comes. POSSIBLY (You know who YOU are, don’t get any crazy ideas!!! Love ya kiddo!)
I did keep my choices on the affordable end of things, as I know not everyone wants to spend $300 on a pair of shoes or a dress. So bear in mind MY choices below are to appeal to a wider range of gals, not just MY penchant for expensive things.
First, the dress I would choose, an Alfred Sung priced at $135, and it has pockets!
Of course it wouldn’t be an ensemble without a gorgeous pair of matching shoes! I found these, and while I adore some of Kate Spade’s bridal shoes, these are not only comfortable, but affordable! (I nearly bought a pair like this in white last week!)
Betsey Johnson Shoes, $129 from Bellissima
Jewels are a MUST:
Bracelet, Carolee $50 from Max and Chloe
Flowers: I would chose something along these lines, this is one I did a few years ago (perhaps a wee bit larger though!), with Sahara Roses & White Hydrangeas. This is a personal photo of mine, swiped off my facebook page for my wedding business, which is why I am not including a link to the source.
I love the idea of a soft low chignon for hair, with something sparkly tucked inside, like this Crystal Wedding Comb, $34.99 from Sparkly Bride
Classic French tips for toes & nails (usually what I have anyway), and soft romantic makeup.
I’ve sent many a bride over to Weddington Way to research dresses, look for inspiration, etc over the past year or so, so it seemed easy enough to put something together myself for their October Style Challenge.
Until next time,
I was not compensated in any way for this post. All opinions are my own. If I have failed to give proper credit or link to a photo, please let me know and I will remedy it.
