Fall Break

Yes, you read that right, fall break! Yesterday my kids started their two-week fall break. From what I understand there was quite the cheering going on at their school when that bell rang! Sadly (or perhaps not, as my ears aren’t ringing!!) I was not there to witness that event! I’ve been in Orange County since late Wednesday evening (as in, 11pm!) for a work thing.

But there are perks to my job, running errands in Orange County is way more fun than where we live! We don’t have a whole foods, and that means we don’t see these types of things:

Bacon caramels?! Really?! I bought my husband some.

Finding a new Kate Spade dress I am IN LOVE with, only to find out the smallest size is too big (this was pinned, I am SO sad!!! Hello eBay hunting!!)

Bon-Epi French Macarons:

A new (BRAND NEW! My first ever new pair) pair of Christian Louboutins found at Nordstrom Rack for under $100 (I’m still in shock!!):

And clothing recaps. I’ve been back on a dress kick, probably because it’s super easy and kind of mindless!

Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrift
Shoes: Strassed Christian Louboutin flats, made by Redo My Shoe

Yesterday I started in this:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

And threw this on to go out to dinner last night with my husband (who came down for the weekend. Since I am not going home until middle of next week):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (oh why is it so hard to wear a brand new pair out?! I felt guilty!!!!)
Necklace & Bracelet: Ben Amun

Not sure how today is going to go, we seem to be moving slow! No solid plans, just waiting to see if I’m needed (hopefully not!) and working our way towards breakfast. Our hotel has amazing breakfast, mmmmm!

Until next time,

Ouch, it’s hard to believe fall is “officially” here! Of course it still feels like summer where I live, although I haven’t had to run my air conditioning in a few days, which is nice! While I’m ready for fall, I’m still dressing for summer, something required when the high hits the low 90’s!

Sunday I wore this, first time since I fixed the broken zipper!

Dress: Kate Spade Emma Dress
Belt: Made by me
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: unsigned, picked up at Burlington Coat factory for less than $10
Bracelet: Ben Amun
Handbag: Stuart Weitzman (an it’s a wrap find for under $20!)

I did not receive any assistance from Kate Spade to fix my zipper (which is unfortunate, especially as they have used this color zipper since this dress! I only needed a zipper pull!!!). I ended up hunting down the company who manufactures zipper FOR Kate Spade and got a rose gold zipper pull from them (sadly, it does not have the pretty “bow” pull, but it IS the right colour!) and replaced it myself. Voila! Back in business. Add in a large necklace and wear my hair down and no one will notice the pull is different! (And even then, most people probably wouldn’t know)

Yesterday I wore this, an eBay find I was super excited about as I’ve been hunting for a black Jillian dress in my size for over a year!

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian
Shoes: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kohls

I threw the same dress on this morning to run kids to school. I’m actually headed back home, I’m working from home today, packing (I leave tomorrow for a week out of town), and doing “mommy” duties so my brood doesn’t starve while I’m gone. Food (specifically dinner) is my husbands love language, and so when I have to be gone, I try to make a point of preparing meals that are super easy to heat up and serve. This working mom and having to travel is rough yall!

Hope your week is awesome! My updates will be sporadic the next week or so. Catch me on Instagram (katespadegirlblog) or Twitter (ksgirlblog) for photos of my adventures!

Until next time,

Oh my, what a long week it’s been! Last Saturday I was up early and running….to chaperone 57 teenagers on an overnight trip to the USS Midway. Let’s just say I haven’t recovered from that!

Weekend photos:

Yes, I wore strassed flats the entire weekend. And I didn’t lose a single stone!!!

I got to run the “damage control” evacuation, and yes, stand on a glass floor 3 ship levels up!

And Monday, I was so exhausted I didn’t even snap outfit photos, just my feet propped up chilling on my couch:

Tuesday’s ensemble:

Top: Nanette Lepore (old)
Skirt: Claude Brown
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

Wednesday, I wore one dress for the day, then changed after cross country, as I felt going to a new bible study in a white dress that was no longer white might not be the best idea in the world!

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Nina, but Strassed by me

Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Strassed by me

Yesterday I went to see a play (one of the artists we manage was in it), so I got all gussied up:

Dress: Kate Spade Liana (off eBay, it’s from a few years ago, I just got this one last week!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Montana Strass
Handbag & Necklace: Kate Spade

And lastly, today.

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Strassed by me
Handbag: Kate Spade

If this week has taught me ANYTHING? It’s that if you have a closet full of great dresses, no matter how exhausted you are, you can still look great when it’s hot, your tired, and you run 50 million places! I get to stay home this weekend, and let me tell you, I AM SO EXCITED!

Hope your week was grand and you have a lovely weekend!

Until next time,

September 11

Today is always a somber day in America. Memorials, remembrance ceremonies, it’s the one day a year that our country seems to pull together and be very patriotic. It’s also a sad day for many, those who mourn the loss of loved ones, those missing loved ones off in unknown places fighting a war many do not understand. What I always remember, is where I was 13 years ago when the peaceful existence we thought we lived in was shattered. So many things changed in that instant.

That said, my house is showing their patriotism today. My kids’ school has ceremonies planned around their flagpoles, and they are all in red, white & blue. So I joined in, as it seemed wrong somehow to wear a pink dress when everyone else is wearing the colours of our country:

Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Kate Spade

May you hold your loved ones a little tighter today, as we remember how fragile our existence truly is. To all those serving our country, thank you. The freedoms we have in our country would not be here without your sacrifice, and the sacrifices of so many other before you. 1774 was when we became a free country, but 2001 is when we realized that freedom should never be taken for granted.

Until next time,

Wednesday, We Meet Again

The middle of the week is always funky for me. The kids get out early, but I stay late at school with the seniors. So I get home and am usually all confused! I know, so silly!! I’m helping the seniors plan their Dining In for December, OMG, it’s going to be AMAZING. I do believe it’s going to be one of the most awesomest (yes, I just wrote that) events I’ve done. Sadly, it’s a super secret surprise, so I can’t share anything until it’s over. Eeks!

My outfit yesterday:

Top: Target, $3 on sale
Belt: Thrifted, under $1
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: Kate Spade, off eBay, under $50

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade Landry
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade

Oh goodness, I just realized everything I’m wearing today is Kate Spade! Not intentional at all. Whoops!

Have a wonderful “hump day”!

Until next time,

Monday Blues

Oh goodness, it’s overcast, a light drizzle, and I have my balcony window open! Nothing like the desert rain. Smells so amazing! I am supposed to be taking a nap, but alas, I seem to have an electronic device addiction. Shhhhh!

My outfit today:

Dress: Kate Spade (outlet dress)
Belt: no-name, picked up @ It’s a Wrap yesterday
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

I didn’t take a lot of photos this weekend. I was at Disneyland on Saturday (and forgot to snap outfit shots before I left!), then ran around LA yesterday before ending up in Laguna Niguel last night to see a venue for a bride. But I do have these from Saturday, to sort of piece together my ensemble:

(Yes, that’s Thor. I’m slightly, okay, HUGELY embarrassed. I wanted to see Thor, not actually meet & take photos! Lol)

Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
Belt: Green satin tied with a vintage brooch (done to tie in my shoes)
Shoes: Green Tourmaline Strassed Christian Louboutin flats

And yes, I broke down and finally purchased a set of headband sparkly ears. They hurt my head though. Boo!! I love the colours.

Thor in his throne room (talk about a magical Disney experience. They did this SO well):

My favorite stop yesterday in LA, at Sugarfina, a luxury candy shop:

I did stop in at the Century City Kate Spade store, but I was very underwhelmed. That store just has a different vibe to it, I don’t know, it’s just not my favorite location to visit. I’m not terribly excited about the fall/winter collections this year, and I made the mistake of saying it! I’m sorry, but I am just not going to run around in short short skirts. Nope. It’s not ME. Oh well. Perhaps that’s why I rarely stop there. I am excited for the take-out box handbag though! It’s next on my list!

We saw the Goodyear blimp preparing to fly:

And the view from where my bride is getting married. Isn’t is stunning?! I’m uber excited for her wedding next summer!!

Now to stay home (or close to home) all week before next weekends adventure! I’m chaperoning an overnight trip to the Midway down in San Diego. I must be mad! 65 teenagers?! Eeks!

Have a great week!

Until next time,

It’s Friday! Why do short work/school weeks seem much longer than a normal week? So bizarre. Or perhaps it’s simply because I cram more into a short week.

Anyway, what I wore yesterday(as I was knee-deep in macarons)

Cardigan: Ross
Blouse: Anthropologie (but I picked up for $2 at a local secondhand shop)
Belt: Old Navy (way way old!)
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: Christian Louboutin flats Strassed in Green Tourmaline

And today I’m wearing this:

Top: Thrifted for $1 (no tags)
Skirt: Anthropologie, but I picked it up at Goodwill for less than $10
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

My night last night included, macarons:

Homemade beef broth:

And cake pops which I neglected to snap a photo of before delivering this afternoon. Whoops!

Did you see the photos from Kate Spade’s SS2015 show this morning? I must admit, I was underwhelmed. I didn’t see anything I HAVE to have, or really really WANT, which is a definite first. I feel it’s a bit of an 80’s meets 50’s revival. However I know it can change between now and then and I do hold out some hope! Then again, perhaps it’s a sign to STOP BUYING CLOTHES.

Have a wonderful weekend! I’m going to be in LA with some friends all weekend. Sometimes mom just needs to get away.

Until next time,
