Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

The End

The school year is officially OVER!!! We made it! Or rather, I survived the crazy “be in 17 places all at once” madness of the past few days. I didn’t even remember to take an outfit photo on Tuesday. Not that what I threw on was particularly memorable.

So, to recap yesterday & today. Yesterday was insane. I had to work, followed by my 6th graders promotion ceremony (that I found out about at the last minute, and was actually double booked!), then run to my 2nd graders class to set up for a surprise baby shower (his teacher is expecting, she is so adorable!), AND put in “face time” at my 4th graders class party. Oh and confirm summer events with the Colonel for ROTC. But deep down, I do love all the crazy running around. If I could, I would go 24/7.

Yesterday, what I wore in the AM:

Jacket: Kate Spade (off eBay, right around $50. Looked for this for AGES!)
Blouse: Kate Spade (surprise sale a couple years ago, if I recall, it was around $60)
Skirt: Vintage, Thrifted, about $6
Belt: Thrifted, $1
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Navy Simple 100’s

And I managed to race home, grab a snack bar and a bottle of water, and change before dashing off to the younger kids’ school. Yet another Kate Spade ensemble, but an older dress that took a couple of years to track down for a price I was willing to pay!

Cardigan: Target ($6-ish)
Dress: Kate Spade, off eBay, under $70
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: JCrew

I adore the dress above. I wanted it ages ago, but by the time it went on a decent sale, my size was sold out. I really like a lot of the older dresses Kate Spade did, I must say the quality is a little better (in my opinion). Now, don’t get me wrong, I love some of the recent pieces, but the workmanship, quality of fabrics, and it seems they aren’t always lined these days, it makes me a little sad. Do I see myself finding a new designer to love? Probably not. I just imagine I will continue to scour eBay for obscure pieces from years past. I wasn’t even mildly tempted from the Havana collection this month! I am excited for fall/winter. And hopefully next month, there is a spring/summer dress from the runway last fall that I’m waiting for! (Shocker, it’s black & white)

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. What I wore today for field day at the elementary school (luckily I was inside a classroom, running a dance party. It was fun to see how many kids knew to link up and do rockette-style kicks to “New York” by Frank Sinatra!):

Cardigan: Target (girls section, around $5-$6)
Dress: Kate Spade (present from my husband)
Belt: It’s a Wrap (under $10)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Kate Spade (off eBay, under $50, also an item I waited to purchase second hand. It is SO cute!)

Today is our anniversary, and being the Old Married People that we are, we ended up staying home tonight. My husband had made dinner plans, but frankly, after the past 4 days, I just wanted to sit at home with the kiddos and put my feet up.

I did make him some chocolate strawberries, as the “traditional” 4th year gift is flowers or fruit:

And that’s a wrap. Now to enjoy the 7 short weeks of summer!

Until next time,

Jules

  1. Happy anniversary!! My parents’ is today too!! I love your official Mom look!!! So classy!! I wanted to grab my OOTD on Wednesday and tag you!! It was a crazy day though!! You would have been proud!!

My biggest complaint now is the chunky plastic zippers. I like them least!

    • Ooooo, I agree on the chunky plastic zippers!!!! Although I do like how it looks on my Corley dress, for some strange reason. But on my Olivia dress, it’s hot pink and is strange. I like the dress enough to ignore the zipper though. I just feel she’s going “trendy”, vs the “classic” I have always associated with the brand. I bought y very first Sam bag (which they don’t make anymore!!) over a decade ago. The friend I ended up giving it to, she STILL has it. That is quality!!!

Thank you, and happy anniversary to your parents as well! I hope they did something more exciting!

I hear ya on crazy days. Sadly my week will end just as crazy, but it sure was fun to pretend tonight the crazy is over. Alas, it was merely a fairy tale.

      • Agreed!!! I still have my grey Sam bag!!! I haven’t seen any of the Madison Ave collection in person yet, but I wonder if the quality is back to the original line!!

      • It’s not, sadly. 😦

But it is better!! The original just wins it!!
