Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Crazy Saturday

“Crazy” is about the only word to describe today’s adventure!!!! I started the morning running off with my oldest and hauling a car full of teenagers around. My outfit:

Dress: Kate Spade Adette
Belt: Kate Spade Owl Belt (snagged off eBay! Soooo excited to find it!)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Handbag: Kate Spade Wise Owl Quinn

After dropping the kids off at their destination, I took off for some “fun” in Orange County. A few errands, some lunch, and a stop off at one of my favorite places to spend an hour or so, an ice rink. I went to one I’ve never been too, in Artesia. The ice surface was phenomenal. Very smooth & fast. Definitely a rink I would skate at again!

My two favorite kinds of shoes: figure skates (I have a newer pair, but decided to enjoy my short session, vs being in agony attempting to break in a new pair!), and Christian Louboutins!

Let just say I had a really good skate today, although my poor feet are sore and my body aches (a good ache!). It’s hard to imagine I did this 6 hours a day, 7 days a week! (Mind you it was over a decade ago, but still!!) I said a couple years ago I wanted to go more for the exercise, and I think I may actually be ready to commit to it, especially as my kids are older and the school schedule isn’t going to be quite so crazy next year. Hey, I’m getting older and my body needs a little kick to stay in shape! (As much as I don’t want to admit that!!!) I wish there was a rink closer, but I suppose I’ll just work it into my schedule!

Anyway. It was a good day. I’m now sitting in my bed:

Yup, feet propped up, and have already iced them. Wow, I feel old!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,

    • Oooo, you should go!! Shoot me an email if you decide you want to go, I’ll give you the 411 on where is best in your neck of the woods!! (The biggest thing is the skates, good rentals make a WORLD of difference as to how it goes for a first-timer!!)

Or if you end up here in SoCal, let me know. There are some beautiful spots here too. I’m going to be in San Diego next Saturday, and hope to hit another sheet of ice. It’s such a good workout!!!

  2. Love it!
I’ve always loved ice skating, I grew up on an off the ice (trade your figure skates for my hockey skates though) and some of my best memories are skating on frozen lakes in the Winter. Sure, it is a bit different than an indoor rink but regardless, it feels like flying.
    Also, OWLS ❤

    • Isn’t it like flying?! I never strapped on hockey skates, but as an adult I sometimes wish I HAD skated hockey. Instead of all the princess DRAMA that figure skating entails, I could have just shoved someone and/or wacked them with a stick! Lol. But I don’t regret my skating years, even though they were grueling, lots of long hard hours on a cold sheet of ice, it’s still magical, over 10 years after “hanging up” my blades!! I dearly wish there was a rink in my area, sadly the closest one is 45+ minutes away.

I’ve never skated on natural ice. It’s on my bucket list though! Not many lakes freeze over here in Southern California!!

And yes, OWLS!! Lol. I know it’s a bit of a fad, but they are super cute!!!
