Weekend Recap

Whew, what a crazy 3-days I have had! Every April my husband and I head up to Las Vegas for a conference. Always fun to see friends and gain some wisdom from the great John Maxwell.

And of course have fun dressing up Vegas-Style! Going out of town is always so hard for me, I always tend to overpack. This year I really worked to pare down and plan my wardrobe, with one backup ensemble (that I ended up not wearing). Major improvement from the 8 outfits and 7 pairs of shoes I packed last year!!! I also carried my Kate Spade Wise Owl Quinn all weekend (again, another improvement!)

My “travel” outfit I wore on the trip up:

Dress: Kate Spade Mariella
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Kate Spade
Brooch: Vintage (isn’t it ADORABLE?!)

For Friday night I changed into this:

Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory

On Saturday I failed to take a photograph. However, it was the inaugural wearing of the infamous Pink Dress. Let me just say, this was a crazy crazy aquisition. The original one is actually on it’s way back to Kate Spade. Why you ask?! It had a wretched odor. To make a super long story short I do now own said Roset dress, but it was a hassle!! This one doesn’t have the smell (which was a cross between pesticide and mothballs!), and I will be very careful when ordering a dress from the online department depending on the fabric. I think it’s the plastic they have them stored in. But, regardless, I do own it, and I must say, it’s gorgeous!!! My favorite compliment was “I just have to tell you, your dress makes me SO happy!”. So while I can’t recommend ordering this dress online, if you can find it in a store, go for it!!!

The photos I did take:

And to church this morning, I repurposed the Mariella dress, adding in my Montana strass Christian Louboutin pumps:

And my final outfit for the weekend (and what I’m wearing on the trip home):

Dress: Kate Spade Emma
Belt: Kate Spade
Necklace: J Crew
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Montana strass heels (done by me)

And because I was feeling lucky I tossed $5 into a slot machine, and then later put that $5 on red at a roulette table (which I’ve always wanted to do! Something so James Bond about that!!!! Of course I’m too cheap to bet a fortune, but it was fun!)

And the ball landed on red! The guy at the table asked me what I was going to do with my winnings, and I gleefully replied “cash them in!” And giggled, and sort of twirled. Hey, I was super excited!! It was only $5, but it was a win!! I think he was perplexed, but then again most people are perplexed by me! (Including myself!!) I did however buy my husband lunch. Big spender! But it was the experience, and as I’m not a big gambler, it was easy to walk away.

A good weekend. Sadly traffic is a huge snarl on the I-15, and I fear this is the 5-hour trip home VS the normal 3-3.5.

Sigh. Oh well. At least I got a free lunch! Hope your weekend was fabulous!!!!

Until next time,

Jules

    Jules,

You’re really building quote the collection of ks clothes…jealous!

Is the first dress black and white or navy and white? It’s adorable either way. Where are you getting all the dresses? Outlet? Full price store? Spill the dets!

And where did you finally get the hot pink dress?!? Love it!

And those ks striped and pink shoes…dying! ah! Where did you find those?!

I was at the ks outlet closet to me last week. Check out my latest blog post to see what I found!

    • Haley-

The Mariella is Navy & White. (Has pockets!!!) it and the blush pink Emma came from outlet shops (different ones). The black Emma came from the shop in Palm Springs, as did the black & white striped shoes (bought during F&F. It was one of the items I received in the mail last week).

The Roset….it’s a long and sorted story. Ugh. Let’s just say the dress is LUCKY I decided she was fabulous enough to have her in my closet. It’s been a crazy stupid journey that would rival “The Bachelor”.

I saw your haul, nice! Fun fun! I stopped in the outlet on the way up Friday, but didn’t purchase anything. The only purchases I made this weekend were some new duds for my husband, he likes to match his ties to my outfits. He has a hot pink tie now, so awesome!!

  2. Your Vegas style is the envy of mine… we were there in February and I definitely wasn’t looking this adorable and put together. I’m sure your hubs loved it!! Perfection, as always!

    • Sara, awe, thanks so much! I suppose I just embrace “dressy” to an extreme. But we were there in a professional capacity, so there wasn’t time for “casual” stuff. We didn’t even make it to the strip this year, I took a nap instead. Whoops!

I also don’t really own any super casual clothing, which can be frustrating at times. Self-inflicted of course! Forces me to pull out the “big guns” on a daily basis.

Just realized that I also have all the dresses in this post! Actually wearing my mariella dress today! 🙂 But I still don’t know how to wear a necklace with my dresses to dress them up. The necklaces I have are all kate spade (4 of them, all casual, like the pink phone necklace and ice cream necklace). So when I wear my dressy kate spade dresses, I wear absolutely no necklace and my earrings are usually pretty tiny too. Sooooo scared of buying a (final sale) necklace on the site cos it might not look how I want it to and I wouldn’t be able to return it. I’m not ready to pay just regular sale price for a necklace that might not work….

    • Oooo, go for it! I love all my KS necklaces!!! And you can always resell for the surprise sale prices pretty easily!
