Monday Travel Dreams

If only I was off with my passport, camera, and suitcase this morning! Alas, my dress is merely a projection of that:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Strassed Jimmy Choo flats
Handbag: Kate Spade

However I suppose some of my “dreams” are possible, as I do have some driving adventures today! I’m headed up to Lake Arrowhead to assist a dear friend in organizing her new house. And bringing her clothes. Because isn’t that what friends do? Shop for their other friends?! It seems I’ve fallen into another “profession” as of late, a fun one at that.

Hope your Monday is grand!

Until next time,

Well, in my dreams I suppose I spent today in Monaco! Why you ask? Because I was rocking one of the new Kate Spade dresses from next months collection, destination: Monaco!

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Coach
Handbag: Kate Spade

Isn’t the stripes TO DIE FOR?! I instantly fell in love. I actually got to try on all the new dresses for next month (silly me didn’t snap any selfies in the dressing room!!), and there are some super cute ones. I also got to finally see the Lemon print dress in my size, and it’s off my wish list now. (That doesn’t mean if I see if for an incredible price I won’t buy it, but it’s not a “must-have”) I didn’t see anything else in the Monaco collection that is a “omg, I NEED this”, mainly because my cardigan collection has gotten so large, I already have all the colours! But this dress was killer. So versatile!

For sizing, it seems to run right on par with Kate Spade’s sizing, I took a 00, and it could be a touch smaller in the waist area, but is perfect everywhere else. It also has pockets, and I adore the length! I’m 5’5 in flat feet (last trip to my Dr, it seems I had grown half an inch in the last few years. Crazy, right?!), and it hits just below my knees, which is really ideal for me. Today was a super blustery day and there was no flashing anyone, this dress is a nice heavy cotton and stays put! Living in a wind tunnel, this is important!!

Thanks to the gals at Newport Fashion Island Kate Spade store for such a fun morning exploring the new stuff, and finally getting to try on some of the Capri pieces in my size. Can’t wait to do it again!

Go out and see the Monaco collection, I think it’s my favorite yet in the “Year of Travel”. But I will refrain from making a final decision until the end of 2014, as who knows what wonderful things my favorite brand has in store.

Until next time,

Crazy Saturday

Today is crazy!! I’m at this event, the company is Fun Services, they provide inflatables and carnival games for companies all over Southern California. Today is their open house. INSANE!!

And this is me, with my “WHAT AM I DOING OUT IN THE SUN?!” Expression:

Bad hair day and all! I am wearing this outfit (photo from a week or so ago, we left so early this morning):

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Corilynn
Shoes: Kate Spade

And in the “selfie” above my necklace is Kate Spade.

This event is insane!!!

I also hit Kate Spade up at Fashion Island, and saw the collection for April in person. Oh my goodness, it’s AMAZING. A small teaser:

Stripes! And more stripes! So many stripes!! I’m in love. I love the year of travel that Kate Spade is doing this year, it’s quite possibly my favorite “gimmick” they’ve done yet.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,

Clamshells! I was asked to do these adorable French Macarons for a baby shower, they are sooooo adorable!!

The pink are strawberry (strawberry creme filling, it’s AMAZING!) and the blue are salted caramel. Mmmm. I am only sorry I didn’t take photos of the process, it was crazy! I made a template and then we traced 96 individuals on parchment paper, then piped on the non-traced side. It was insane. But they came out beautifully!!

My outfit today, another nod to the stripe & glitter theme:

Sweater: Kate Spade
Skirt: Vintage (I have 3 different Navy vintage pencil skirts. But this one has pockets!)
Shoes: Kate Spade

And of course my wise owl Quinn bag was dragged around with me today. I feel like I’m in a bit of a rut, or at least headed that way, clothing wise. I find myself wanting to wear the same 7 things, yet the idea of getting rid of anything is terrifying! Looking back through my blog photos, I seem to go through stages, fashion wise. I’m not an expert, just a gal who likes to wear skirts and dresses. Who started a blog to get OUT of a rut.

And to “prove” I can be crazy mom? I wore pants with socks and glittery keds to a CAMP in the mountains last night:

What you don’t see is my goofy earmuffs, huge fur coat, and of course a huge statement necklace no one could see, because of my scarf. And hot pink gloves. I looks ridiculous, but it was 27 degrees and the wind chill made it feel like 20. The only part of me that got cold were my toes. We went up to visit the ROTC kids and surprise them after a long hard week at camp. My son & husband “bonding” (read: ex Naval Officer learning Air Force swear words. Or so it seemed!!)

Brr. I’m cold just thinking about it! And now I want to go ice skating. Maybe next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,

I have a problem….

What type of problem?! Well, aside from being a serial shopaholic (isn’t admitting it half the battle?!), I have a stripes addiction! This week anyway.

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Dress: Kate Spade
Belt: Thrifted
Necklace: J Crew
Shoes: Kate Spade
Handbag: Kate Spade

I suppose I should change handbags, but I just love the owl so much! Plus he’s got all kinds of metal mixing going on, which makes me happy.

Today should be less blustery than yesterday (so far anyway), but still a little chilly!

Until next time,

Windy Wednesday

Oh my, from 85 degrees yesterday to 56, overcast and windy today! I had a full day in the kitchen, so I wore pants today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (it’s like a heavy sweater jacket)
Blouse: Kohls
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: J Crew
Handbag: Kate Spade

Lots of baking today, I won’t reveal what I was working on until later in the week, but I did make my husband some creme brûlée (his favorite!):

Until next time,

Stripes I Say!

It’s a stripe-y kind of day around here:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: J Crew (via It’s a Wrap)
Skirt: Escada (Thrifted, almost 5 years ago)
Belt: Kate Spade (my other outlet purchase last Friday)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Navy Simple 100’s

And not pictured was my Wise Owl Quinn, which has been dragged everywhere the past few days. I just can’t get over how much I adore that bag! I think it is my new favorite, it’s so unique. (This coming from a girl who does own a Birkin, which is rather unique as well.)

And as a result of reading too many blogs the past couple of months, I finally jumped on the J Crew statement necklace bandwagon. Of course I took it to the extreme, but I couldn’t decide which one!! So I ordered, ahem, 3.

I imagine the upper right one will become a staple, it’s already my favorite. But you never know!!

With that I must run. Busy week scheduled, while the kids are away, I intend to deep clean the house and declutter (meaning: throw stuff away!!) their bedrooms. It’s quite the project!

Until next time,
