Pastels & Sparkles

Today was another gorgeous day here in Southern California! I continue to be amazed by the sunny days. Of course the flip side is the drought that seems to be worsening….so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a little rain!

I wore my new strassed shoes this morning to church (glad I did too! Had to make a few minor repairs. And yes, I really need to start making my bed!!!!):

Cardigan: Banana Republic (off eBay)
Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Crystal AB strass Christian Louboutin simple pumps
Handbag: Coach (3+ years old!)

And yesterday at Fashion Island, Kate Spade’s sale items were on sale! Additional 40% off!! Sooooo, after NOT buying a car, I convinced my husband that he was getting off easy with the two items I desperately wanted. There may have been some negotiating happening as to them being Valentine & Mother’s Day gifts. BUT, he caved fairly quickly and isn’t even holding them hostage!

Shoes, brand new, never even tried on! I’m soooooo excited about these, I’ve had them on my wish list since they came out. Pale pink glittery heels WITH a big bow?! Yes please!!!!

And then this cardigan, another wish list item.

I have a gorgeous pink shimmery ballgown I picked up a few months ago while thrifting that I think would be perfect with both pieces. And a darling Escada clutch I snagged secondhand! I’m thinking it will be perfect for a wedding this spring we have been invited too. I must admit I spent quite some time this afternoon just smelling the shoes. The magic of brand new leather shoes, well, I don’t know if there is anything like it! Kate Spade’s shoes have the same type of soft leather sole that Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik both use, yet the support on par with my beloved Christian Louboutin simple pumps.

Ahhhh, new shoes. They make everything brighter, yes?

I hope your weekend was filled with many fabulous adventures! I know for some it is a 3-day weekend, however in my house the adults go back to work tomorrow. I’m only working half the day, as the kids are home from school. It’s going to be another crazy week! I plan to keep up with my blog as much as possible though. Check out my Instagram for more photos: katespadegirlblog. I’m a bit of an Instagram addict!

Until next time,

Saturday Musings

What a gorgeous Saturday across Southern California! My husband and I rounded up the kids and headed down to Orange County to car shop. Currently am sitting in the dealership awaiting on MY car, as we are having the navigation system updated. I have to say, Newport Lexus does know how to make the waiting game a comfortable experience!

Sadly no new car, as we both feel the one my husband loved is priced a little high, and we are walking. It feels odd being a grown up and resisting the “sense of urgency” the car salesman tried to instill in us!!

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade (off eBay)
Blouse: thrifted
Skirt: Hartley skirt from Sandee Royalty
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (off eBay)
Handbag: Kate Spade

I did have a necklace on, but with all my recent neck issues, it was driving me nuts after 5 minutes so I left it off and at home.

Yesterday I wore this:

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Blouse: Donna Karan (thrifted, summer 2010)
Skirt: INC, thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade

I stayed up until 1am this morning finishing up my crystal AB Strassed Simple pumps. I am SO EXCITED about these! I wanted to wear them today, but I’m waiting until the event I finished them for this coming week.

Hard to believe these were black leather just over a week ago!

And finally, some photos from our drive to Orange County:

I suppose I shall sit back and wait for the next hour for my car, and attempt to convince my husband that we must go to South Coast Plaza AND Fashion Island before heading home. Perfectly reasonable, eh? Okay, perhaps not. I imagine we will end up at Fashion Island, as there is a Kate Spade store there, and the kids really enjoy going there. They are sadly too old to be bribed by the prospect of a merry-go-round! Oh well, one day I will have grand kids that will fall for that “trick”.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Until next time,

Green with Envy

Okay, perhaps I went a wee bit overboard with the green today, however I enjoyed it! My favorite compliment of the day was “your shoes remind me of ice cream and Easter”. Strange? Yes! But it was also strangely flattering in that it put a smile on my face and a lightness in my step! The weather was also gorgeous today, AND bible study started back up, all wonderful things to make Thursday a great day!

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Banana Republic (off eBay, under $15)
Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik Strassed by me
Necklace: Kate Spade (thanks mom!!!)

I’ve also been making progress on my heels, as the event I want to wear them is next week, not two weeks away as I previously thought! Whoopsie.

I got further after that last photo, but with the wet glue it isn’t very pretty. I figure I’ll have them done by Saturday if I keep plugging along. I also can’t wait to share the gorgeous dress I Thrifted to wear with them!!!

Until next time,

Mid-week! *jumps up and down and twirls* I’m happy to greet this sunny morning with a smile, as I know it’s the downhill mark in the week, leading into a 3-day weekend for my kids! (Not me, must work this weekend, hope to share some fun items from my weekend next Monday!)

Today I’m wearing this:

Cardigan: Banana Republic (two years ago)
Dress: Lela Rose for Target/Neiman Marcus
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Handbag (on bed in background): Kate Spade

Yes, I’m catching up on Downton Abbey on my iPad in the background while I get ready this morning! I have to say, I do enjoy having a portable “tv”. Not the use intended when it was purchased, but still.

I’ve made some progress on my shoes:

Not nearly as much progress as I would like, however, it is tax season, so I am swamped at the office, in addition to all the other things going on. My biggest “resolution” for 2014 is to be better about managing my time, so I am being more selective about projects I’ve taken on. We shall see how THAT goes!

Off and running, hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

Until next time,

Bright and Cheery

It’s going to be another wonderful day here! I must admit, I feel a teensy bit guilty that most of the country is having hellacious weather, while ours is gorgeous!

Today I’m wearing this:

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Blouse: Banana Republic (secondhand)
Skirt: Anthropologie (from It’s a Wrap in Los Angeles)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples
Necklace: Kate Spade

Sadly I am spending my days in the office this week, it’s tax season, so I’m playing “accountant” for the next two weeks. Heaven help the numbers!!! But thank heavens for calculators!

Hope your week is smashing! I will enjoy the sunshine in the carpool lines this week!

Until next time,

Winter Blues

With the kids back in school and the crazy holiday season over, I hope to be back to blogging on a more regular basis. No promises though!!

Today I am embracing the winter (not!), blues:

Cardigan: Target
Skirt: Marc Jacobs (Thrifted)
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, Strassed by moi
Handbag: Kate Spade

I’ve also started a new project:

I’ve been hoarding these crystal AB stones for over a year now, and since the simple is my favorite heel, it’s a perfect match! (I have a pair of black simples to wear as well)

With the kids back in school I finally feel like it’s the new year. Something about the monotony of schedule does that I suppose! It’s also back to the grind for me, lots of projects this upcoming year, I’m super excited!

Until next time,

Friday Recap

Just a quick recap of some outfits this past week. I shall start with today, as I pulled out what seems to have become my “go-to” ensemble for funerals. Happily today was a lovely occasion, celebrating the long full life of the most incredible woman. I was touched greatly by the stories shared and the memories that flew through my brain. My father gave the most lovely service!

Anyway, I wore this, and added the hat for the graveside. California provided perfect weather, 70-ish in January!

Hat: Vintage (garage sale!)
Jacket: Target
Brooch: vintage
Blouse: Kohls
Skirt: Saks Fifth Avenue (Vintage, Thrifted)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simple

In addition to the ceremony, my father also played his harp in the cemetery and my daughter sang the song my grandmother had requested. She (my grandmother) truly was the most inspiring woman ever.

Some other outfits this past week:

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: French Connection
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Simples

Necklaces: Kate Spade
Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Blouse: Nanette Lepore
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Strassed Manolo Blahniks

Cardigan: Grace Elements (Ross)
Dress: Trina Turk (Thrifted)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Strassed Manolo Blahniks
Handbag: Kate Spade

In other news, we had some lovely meals this week:

Stuffed Chicken Breasts & Green Beans sautéed in butter & garlic

Filet Mignon, Green Beans & Scalloped Potatoes (from scratch)

Viewed several lovely sunsets, but only managed to capture this one:

All in all, a lovely week. Looking forward to the weekend, as next week the kids go back to school and well, it’s tax season, so it’s crazy! Ah, the perils of being a grown up!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,
