Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Week in Review

Woah, I just realized I haven’t posted since Monday!

A recap of the past few days….it’s been a busy busy week!

Blouse: Unknown from It’s a Wrap in Hollywood
Skirt: from It’s a Wrap in Hollywood
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Montana strass Christian Louboutin Simples
Handbag: Kate Spade, off eBay
Necklace: Juicy Couture

It’s a wrap is this awesome store in LA, they sell clothing from movie sets! I have quite a few items from there. They tag their clothing with what TV show/movie/reality show they are from. Right now they have TONS of costumes from Dancing with the Stars, albeit terribly overpriced. It’s fun to take friends there and see what we come up with. I’d say the pricing is somewhere between a thrift store and a consignment shop, and pricing also seems to depend on the set the piece came from. It’s worth a look, but I recommend allowing at least an hour to “dig”. I rarely walk away empty handed.

Wednesday, I took my daughter ice skating (something I did on a whole other level over a decade ago!), it’s always fun to take a spin and then realize how old I have gotten!! My outfits from before skating (yes I changed!), including my falling off the skirt wagon:

Dress: Target
Shoes: Siam AB Strassed Nina Jellies

Cardigan: Forever 21
Blouse: Old Navy
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Siam AB Strassed Nina Jellies
Handbag: Kate Spade

Some photos from the ice rink, including one of my father, who hold the “Pot Bellied Pops” Title (back in the 90’s we added that category to our HUGE summer competition for some comic relief. My dad won the last year they had the event. I dressed him, picked his music and choreographed his program. It was fairly epic. I’m hoping the video is hiding somewhere still!!!). On another note, my daughter is wearing my first competition dress! Of course she wanted hot pink tights, but still. So adorable. As for me, I can still wear my outfits from 14 years ago (and skates!!!) but have invested in what I feel is appropriate for a mom to wear: black leotard, black skirt, and black tights! Not to mention, the only pair of boots in my closet!!

I have to say, it’s surreal to go back to the rink I used to train at as an adult. I miss skating terribly, but my arthritis and bad knees prevent me from going too often. I do think I will try and go every few weeks, it is such a good workout!!!

Thursday, I threw on a dress for my sons AFROTC award ceremony, but tossed a skirt on after we got home, to keep up with wearing a different skirt every day!

Dress: Calvin Klein
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Montana strass Christian Louboutin

However I redeemed myself by changing when we got home into this:

Top: Kohls
Skirt: Olilly

And yesterday I knocked two skirts out of the lineup!

First, to go into the office:

Top: Kohls
Skirt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Violet strass Nina Jellies

And lastly, last night was date night. So in true moi fashion, I got all dolled up!

Blouse: Lauren Conrad for Kohls
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Saks Fifth Ave (vintage) with red petticoat underneath
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: (not pictured) Hermes Birkin
Jewels: necklace:vintage, bracelet:banana republic, earrings:diamond & pearl studs, rings:engagement and right hand diamond rings

Whew. If you made it this far, well, I hope you enjoyed my week (almost) in review along with my mindless drivel. I have realized however, I will not be able to complete my “30 skirts in 30 days” challenge, simply because we are leaving in a week for a 9-day road trip, and being fashionable is doable, but I have limited space in my luggage, so I shall have to repeat and pack items than can be multi-use. But, until we leave, I’m sticking to it! I even have the skirts (and dresses now!) separated in my closet.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,
