Monday Recap

Wowzers, this past weeked was crazy busy! But super fun. The musical was a huge hit, and it was rather exciting to see all my shoes and costume jewelry (and hats!!) parade and sparkle in the lights. The performers don’t know this yet, but I have a fun surprise for their cast party in a couple of weeks!! I won’t spoil it, in case for some reason one of them reads this.

Some outfit recaps:

Blouse: Kate Spade
Belt: Kohls
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Cardigan: Target (with redone buttons)
Dress: Trina Turk (thrifted)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: Vintage (was my Nana’s)

Blouse: Banana Republic
Camisole: Ross
Belt: Old Navy
Skirt: thrifted
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Strassed by me

Cardigan: Old Navy
Blouse: Target
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Vintage from Saks Fifth Avenue
Shoes: Custom by Redo My Shoe

Last Friday I scored these amazing vintage hats at a yard sale (which I then use for the musical!!), they are truly spectacular and I look forward to wearing them this spring and summer! I’m a huge hat person, keeps that wicked bright desert sun out of my poor aching eyes.

Saturday I acquired a new cake decorating stand, and promptly put it to use to make The Husband an ice cream cake!

I did not manage to get any super good shots of all the pieces that were in the musical, but here’s a couple. The lead flapper wore Alannah Hill & Kate Spade, as well as a pair of Miu Miu flats + my vintage dark mink. It was spectacular in person!!

I can’t wait to see what other adventures in costuming I get myself into this year. Some interesting things on the horizon!

Hope your weekend was swell!

Until next time,

Thursday Blues

I have been so busy this week that I’ve not taken the time to take a photograph of any outfit, much less write something! I have quite a few last minute orders, and have been baking baking baking all week. And recovering from a decision I made to do some light workouts, just to tone up with summer coming. I didn’t realize how out of shape I am! Whoops!

Anyway, my outfit today, feeling rather blue, with all the events going on in our country:

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Dress: Calvin Klein
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Hermes

I added a brooch to my pearls for some fun. I was costuming the high school girls last night for their play this weekend, and I attached lots of brooches to necklaces!! It’s something different anyway.

My heart goes out to those in Boston as well as the tiny town of West, Texas. Such a week of tragedy!!

Until next time,

I have no words to say in reflection of this recent tragedy today. I’m terribly embarrassed that I hadn’t seen the news before posting my earlier blog post this afternoon.

My thoughts, prayers, and sympathies are with the families and victims.

Such a tragic event.

In sympathy,

Monday Morning Blues

For those who follow me on Instagram, it was obvious I was in Las Vegas this past weekend with far too many shoes for 3 days! But hey, we drove up, so it’s not like I had the constraints of checked baggage or anything.

But alas, the party is over and it’s a Monday. A very busy one at that! My oldest child is in a high school musical (oh the irony!), and it’s the big push this week, as they perform Friday. I’m excited, it’s a 20’s theme, so I had fun pulling pieces from my wardrobe for costuming. Hey, every lead flapper needs a real mink, right?! (And I rarely get to wear it!) I’ll have to snap some shots when it’s all put together and share.

I neglected to take outfit shots this past weekend, with the exception of Saturday night:

I had more fun wearing those shoes!! I had one lady try to buy them off my feet. But luckily they are back home with me tucked away without a single lost stone. (A record!) I left off any sparkly accessories, reasoning the shoes and bag were probably quite enough.

Dress: Kate Spade Jillian Dress
Shoes: Stuart Wietzman Siam AB strass
Handbag: Kate Spade Moonlight Soirée

I wore these yesterday morning:

Fuchsia AB strass by Redo My Shoe. Love these!

And today I am wearing this:

Cardigan: Target
Skirt: St John
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Light Siam Strass
Handbag: Kate Spade

And there you go. I really didn’t buy much this weekend, I didn’t find anything truly spectacular that I needed. I did discover Godiva Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Bars, oh yummy!!!! But the one pair of shoes I did fall in love with hurt my feet so badly within 15 seconds it was just not going to happen. Oh well. Plenty of shoes out in the world yet for me!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,

Well, I suppose I have neglected my blog for enough time. Life has been fairly crazy, with the end of spring break, kids going back to school, work, etc.

Anyway, some outfit recaps:

Cardigan: eBay, it’s an Australian brand
Skirt: Bob Mackie
Shoes: Fuchsia AB strass by Redo My Shoe
Handbag: Birkin

Cardigan: Target
Dress: Isaac Mizrahi for Target (I’ve had this for years, finally tailored it to fit)
Shoes: Strassed Christian Louboutin flats (violet & violet AB)
Handbag: Birkin

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Skirt: St John
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Handbag: Birkin

Dress: Banana Republic
Shoes: Redo My Shoe Strass Christian Louboutin
Brooch on dress: Monet (off eBay)

Dress: Lela Rose for Target
Shoes: strass Christian Louboutin flats

I fear the photo I snapped of my outfit above (what I’m wearing today) isn’t terribly bright, but I’ve worn everything above before, so it’s not really anything new.

In other news, some recent projects. I made a “twilly” for my bag:

And lots and lots of French Macarons this week (about 15 dozen!!)

Lastly, a recent strass project, making a plain negligee something special:

And so there you go. The Husband and I are going out of town this weekend to celebrate his birthday a week early. Kids have commitments ON his actual birthday, and this weekend we were able to schedule a sitter. A 3-day weekend is much needed!

Until next time,

Chipless in California

The title says it all. About two years ago costco had these fabulous chips (and I am so not a chip person), baked salt & pepper. Amazing. As in I bought bags and bags.

Then one day disaster struck.

No more big bags of inexpensive yummy chips.

So, I grumble myself off to Target and pay $3/bag. And seriously, it’s worth it. These chips are baked, not fried, and perfect. The Holy Grail of chip.

Well, for the past 6 months or so, NO baked kettle chips at my Target. Okay, fine, it’s a restock, whatever. Life gets really crazy with the holidays and chips slip my mind.

Until last week. The Kettle chips are finally restocked. Except something is terribly wrong. No salt & pepper!!! But, I discover sour cream and onion, which I count on to tie me over until the rest of the stock arrives.

Let me tell you. Those holy grail chips are not coming. Why you ask?

Because they stopped making them! Or so I am assuming. So tonight I’m like chip crazy. Not enough to go to the store for them, but enough to bring up amazon on my kindle (gotta love that, I needed a book yesterday? Had it in 5 seconds. Didn’t have to leave my bed!) and search for them. Because you can buy cases of chips on amazon.

One crazy seller has a case of these chips. $85 (with shipping!) for a case of 15 4oz bags.

I’m sorely tempted. But, I refrain. I mean, that’s a pair of shoes.

So, I get a crack brain idea to write the company. And I sign my message? “Chipless in California”. I’ll let you know if they respond. (Frankly they will most likely laugh hysterically at the crazy chip lady and delete it. But one never knows!!)

So there ya go. This is what happens when one is laid up with an aching back and 4 bored children who aren’t taken on the planned adventures for this week because frankly, the idea of more than 30 minutes anywhere but my own house sounds revolting. Even for chips. I did manage to get dressed 2 of the past 3 days though! (Drs appointments)

Cardigan: Target, with Swarovski crystal button added by me
Dress: Hobbs
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (which I didn’t actually wear for more than the picture. I ended up wearing my red sparkle Jimmy Choo flats out, forgot to snap a photograph)
Handbag: Hermes

And another:

Blouse: Ralph Lauren
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Max Studio

Hey one good thing? (Other than obsessing about chips that is) I got through all 3 Hunger Games books yesterday (after really enjoying the movie Tuesday). That’s where the instant gratification was helpful, I was able to order books 2 & 3 without really moving. My back is better today, but it still aches. Not sure what I pulled, but ugh!! Lots of rest, ibuprofen and ice. Sadly my arthritis is kicking up as well for whatever reason. They might be related, I’ll find out in a couple of weeks. Not thrilled about THAT.

Oh well. I’m alive, I can still walk, enjoy Disneyland and wear crazy shoes. And obsess over chips!

Until next time,

AKA Chipless in California

April Fools Day

First off, any good pranks today? I half had my oldest child convinced he had school today, a final, and that he was late! Very funny. Teenage boys, they are an interesting lot.

Second, some outfit recaps! This was Saturday:

Cardigan: Target
Camisole: Felina
Tank top: Gap (ages old!)
Skirt: Nanette Lepore
Shoes: Violet & Violet AB strass Christian Louboutin flats (done by moi)
Handbag: Coach
Necklace: my knockoff who knows where it’s from but it wishes it was VCA enamel necklace.

And today, although I’ve since shed my shoes and Miss Beatrice is back in rotation, but tucked away somewhere and frankly, I’m too tired to hunt her down:

Cardigan: Old Navy
Dress: Alannah Hill

And for the fun part! I enlisted an old friend to help me with my giveaway drawing:

My first designer item ever, Christian Dior Barbie! (Although my daughter coloured her hair with a pink market once upon a time. It gives her flair!)

She then grabbed a friend for an impromptu photo shoot:

So there you have it. Hayley and Jayna Rae, contact me to claim your prize! Congratulations!

Happy April Fools Day!

Now off to nurse my back, I pulled a muscle or something yesterday. Oops.

Until next time,
