Fashion, Food, Desserts, being a 30-something mom is exciting!

Hoover Dam

I am so excited to share today’s post with you! I’ve had to keep this super secret the past couple of weeks while planning, sketching, and prepping for it, as it was a complete surprise!

My father retired today after 30 years with LADWP. When I called the lady organizing his party she asked me if I had any pictures, OR if I would share memories of my dad throughout the years. Which got my mind spinning. My earliest memory of my father working for DWP was at the Hoover Dam (I was 2-2.5 years old and in a carrier on his back!), we were deep in the locks at the bottom of the dam. And my father, being my father, flipped the light switch, off. I still remember my mother’s scream!! So, I decided to make a cake of the Hoover Dam for him!

Yes, he brought his small harp and serenaded his guests. Only my dad! Congratulation to him, may he enjoy his retirement and have a blast fulfilling his bucket list! It includes collecting petrified wood from every state in the union and finding rocks all over the country. I’m sure many other things as well, as he has quite a lot of varied interests. He sure did make growing up a blast, while being an amazing teacher (I was taught at home for many years) and working full-time. A well deserved retirement!

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Banana Republic
Skirt: Escada
Belt: Kate Spade
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Handbag: Kate Spade

Of course it’s now boiling hot outside, so I have since changed my cardigan and shoes:

Tonight it’s back to the grins as I have a cake for tomorrow as well. I’m contemplating whipping up some Macarons as well, depending on how motivated I get tonight.

Wish me luck!

Until next time,

    • Thank you for your kind words!

No, I haven’t yet done a cake-progress “tutorial”, mainly because my recipe is kind of a wee but of a secret. Hmmm. But perhaps next cake I make I’ll do some more detailed snaps. I tend to get so caught up I forget to photograph!!!

I did post a French Macaron tutorial last week, something I’ve been meaning to do, but kept forgetting to stop and take photos! I remembered last week, by writing it everywhere in notes!

      Thanks for stopping by dear!!

      ❤ Jules
