How I Fell Off The Wagon
Sooo, I challenged myself I not buy anything non-essential this month.
And honestly, I did really really good.
Until yesterday. And then I fell off the wagon, big time.
Now I am going to be a big girl and take responsibility, however, I do party blame The Engineer. You see, we had made a pact when we were dating that Valentine’s Day would not be some big show of excess. My big thing is wasting $70-$100 on flowers that will be dead in a week. And chocolates? Well, usually I’m making so many candies, cakes, etc that week, the last thing I want is a box of chocolates.
So, we have stuck to that. Now being competitive, I have usually managed to one-up him at any holiday that requires a gift. Until now, only one exception, our engagement, he spent more on my ring than I spent on his watch. The watch I have since stolen for my use as he wears the Rolex I bought him later that year. I even spent more on his wedding band. But who’s keeping track right?
Well he got me this year. I was so proud of the talking Yoda Gumball dispenser I had found (half off in the after Christmas sales!!). He asked me what I wanted, and there was a hot pink cardigan from Target, so I figured that was it.
Oh no. He goes and busts out a delivery from Kate Spade (the dress I wore yesterday).
Which started a conversation about the bag he had also tried to snag in the recent sample sale (the one I dearly wanted but resisted!!). Well, so yesterday had me on the phone with Kate Spade. Yes, I tracked one down and it will be here early next week.
My downfall, anything sparkly:(photo swiped from eBay) Kate Spade Moonlight Soirée in Multi-Glitter
Well that was it. I already blown it, so a trip to target just made it worse:
Le sigh. Sometimes I just can help it. Granted Bombshell was on sale for $9.99, and I resisted buying the extended edition CD, and the baking items were 50% off.
Oh and I picked up new sheets at Ross later too. And placed a small order at Banana Republic.
Oops. Very very bad!!!
However, my intention is to stay on the wagon for the rest of the month, as there really isn’t anything else I need.
Today is a lounge and be lazy, it’s overcast and I’m just not feeling so hot. The kids all had colds and illness affects me differently. But I did manage to get dressed, even to be lazy.
Cardigan: Target, under $10 on sale
Blouse: Ann Taylor Outlet
Pants: Banana Republic
Shoes: Christian Louboutin flats
I’ll probably throw everything into one of my green Kate Spade bags for later. Saturday nights are church for us, so I’ll have to carry all my stuff.
I must also thank the staff at the Cabazon Kate Spade store, they are awesome! They not only had my bag, but they price matched the sample sale price, and of course they ship for only $5. All the stores do this, I’ve ordered several times from various places. It comes all packaged pretty, and they even write lovely little notes!
Now to go wallow in my shame for not keeping to my self-prescribed shopping ban. I will say, 14 almost 15 days is a record for me. Sometimes a good deal is too hard to resist. I will also say that I don’t carry consumer debt (which I never recommend going into debt for beautiful things!!), so me breaking my ban is not going to damage me or my family financially.
Now, if you got this far, thank you for sticking around! I suppose I rather got off on a tangent this morning. It happens, just ask The Engineer. I can prattle on for ages about absolutely nothing!!
I’m going to explore other blogs today, any good reads you can recommend to me?? (It may keep me from all those lovely sale codes in my email!!) One of my friends has a hilarious blog: http://www.thelackymom.com She is hilarious!
Until next time,
