New Years Eve

Happy New Years Eve! Hard to believe we have about 12 hours left in 2012. I personally am happy to see the end of the year, and am excited for what 2013 will bring!

My outfit today:

Cardigan: Kate Spade
Blouse: Kohls
Skirt: Escada, thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Light Siam Strassed Flats

I also wore my Kate Spade Tulip coat out this morning:

I adore this coat! It’s got a gorgeous green lining. I didn’t wear them, but I also have hot pink Kate Spade leather gloves, trimmed with crystals. Hey, might as well be stylish while keeping warm! It was 30 degrees out this morning, and it hasn’t gotten much warmer.

Stopped at Target too, all the Christmas is 70% off. It was mainly odds and ends, but I did snag these:

Last year I picked up glass candy canes, so I was excited to find glass candy this year! They only had 3 boxes, but I’m going to sneak into another Target here in a while and see if I can’t grab a few more.

I hope y’all have a wonderful day and evening, please stay safe if you are out tonight! I much prefer to stay home, I haven’t been “out” for New Years Eve in 9 years! We are going to have a Lord of the Rings marathon, and I have apple cider for the children, and a treat of pink bubbly for the adults. I’ll be cooking a huge Asian-inspired meal later, and breaking out the crackers as well. For desserts? The remaining pumpkin pie and all the Christmas candy!

I’d better make some coffee too! *grins*

Thank you to all my followers, and I look forward to an amazing 2013!!

See you next year,

Quick Outing

It was chilly and overcast all day (possible snow tonight!!!), but I didn’t let that stop me from wearing a dress today for an outing with the children. The kids had gift cards thy have been dying to spend, so off we went. I took the opportunity to be better prepared for next year, gift wise. I am thrilled to say, I’m about 50% done with Christmas & Birthday present shopping for 2013!! Possibly a touch more.

Which also means, I picked up a few things for some giveaways next year.

Anyway, today, my outfit: (sorry for the wonky picture, the lighting wasn’t that great, and the mirror needs a polish)

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Dress: Nanette Lepore
Shoes: Kate Spade

I also had a cream scarf and my Kate Spade wool tulip coat. And of course my silly little gold handbag:

Anyway, I’m off for now. I spent the afternoon/evening de-strassing a pair of flats. Never paint and Strass over pony hair. Very bad idea.

Do you have big plans for Monday night? I like to stay home, I’m not much for wild late night parties though. I’d rather stay home and color-code my closet or something. *grins*

Enjoy what’s left of 2012!!

Until next time,

Day After Meltdown

Whew, Christmas is over. Not that I don’t love the holidays, this year was just exhausting. I worked a lot leading up to yesterday, so I imagine that contributed (not to mention throwing my back out and all the neck issues, ugh!)

So, Happy Day After! Here was my Christmas outfit:(because I have yet to get dressed today)

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Dress: Lela Rose, from Target-Neiman Marcus collection (I snagged it 50% off)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklace: Banana Republic

A closeup of the necklace:

And some fun things from yesterday:

New phone cases:

How I spent most of the day:

Warm furry blanket and my kindle (in a pink Kate Spade case of course!)

And the best part? My oldest got a phone (I know, I know), and I published his phone number on my Facebook, for all my friends. With a request to text or call at specific times. So all morning the phone was hidden up in the tree singing as he received messages from all over the US! Such a fun thing to do. A few of my friends, their kids started calling, it was great.

So, the holiday is over, the presents unwrapped, and 2013 is looming. I’m excited to see what the new year has in store! We don’t go out and celebrate on NYE, I like to stay home for movie marathons. So no big plans this year. Maybe a nice bottle of bubbly.

Did you buy anything in the after Christmas sales? I may or may not have indulged a bit. Maybe. While lounging in PJs all day today. Something I never do. Well, maybe once or twice a year. *grins*

Until next time,

Happy Christmas Eve!

Happy Christmas Eve!

Our holiday is low-key this year, quite a bit of family things going on, and we have done for others instead of another large holiday of excess.

This morning my father’s station (he works in power) had their annual Christmas Eve breakfast, so we toodled off to that before 7am today! Had a good time, kids got lots of candy and hot wheels (the prizes they picked from the raffle, instead of cash and/or gift cards!!), and we also won a pancake griddle (I’m super excited about that!), and a pound of Sees Candy (not so excited about that, all the candy making I do around here!!!)

My outfit:

Cardigan: Banana Republic (Holiday ’11)
Skirt: Escada, thrifted
Shoes: Strassed Jimmy Choo flats
Handbag: tiny gold bag I’ve been toting around for nearly a week now.

Some other highlights, our HUGE Christmas tree (seriously, this thing is a monster! Makes the room look small, insane)

Most of the gifts are from the kids, mainly to each other. I stepped back this year, they wrapped their own stuff! (Super hard for me to do. I’m so that person that makes everything pretty with ribbons and bows) some of their work:

And my daughter and I did nails this afternoon/evening. Here’s the finished ones for her (mine are just the normal French):

She asked for all the crystals. I’m hoping it will last awhile, I used the gelish polish. Oh to be young and have crazy nails!! Sadly, I just feel ridiculous, so I keep mine fairly simple.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve! Enjoy all the family and cookies!! May your holiday be filled with joy, peace and happiness, and safe travels to those on the road (or in the air!) this evening and tomorrow.

Happy Christmas!

Christmas Eve Eve

Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately, I’ve been on the run a lot, and keep forgetting to snap shots of my outfit. Oops!

Here’s today (sans ruby red slippers):

Cardigan: Kate Spade, off eBay
Blouse: Lela Rose, Target/NM collection (half price!)
Belt: Vintage, thrifted
Skirt: vintage, thrifted
Shoes: (not pictured) Light Siam Jimmy Choo Strassed flats
Handbag: tiny gold bag

My bag:

I have done something brutal to my neck, and am unable to carry a proper handbag at the moment. So I’ve been sporting the one above, and rotating a few small coin purses as well.

And in other news, we had a gingerbread house party Friday. Last year I only bought two houses, and day kid did one side. This year, I bought a house kit for each kid (on sale for $4.99 @ CVS). I added extra candy and a huge tub of peppermint buttercream left over from the North Pole cupcakes I did earlier in the week. I think each house reflects each child’s personality.

And for fun? I snuck a picture of some presents:

So excited! And my new favorite candy:

Of course it’s not all about me. I had each child put together a box for a local program that takes Christmas boxes down to Mexico. And this evening we blessed a local family with a few presents, so their kids could have a Christmas. We chose to have a smaller Christmas this year, and do things for others instead. I’ve been doing other small blessings since Thanksgiving, I truly enjoy it.

On that note, it’s off to bed. Tomorrow is an early morning for a holiday breakfast with my father. Kids love going, they always end up with piles of candy and fun stuff.

Happy Holidays!

Until next time,

Some Thoughts & Giveaway Winners!

I have two things! First, a huge thank you to all my readers, and those who entered my giveaway! So, drumroll please……

Maria Zimmerman

Jeffery Lum

Please contact me with your address so I can ship your prizes!

I ran trough Target this morning, and the Neiman Marcus collection is 50% off. Mine had everything till. I did pick up the Lela Rose dress. Might go back for the blouse.

So, I’ve not been updating, simply because the week before Christmas is always super busy for me. Some things I’ve done this past week:

North Pole Mini Cupcakes (250 of them!)

An anniversary cake:

A trip to Disneyland and Logan’s Candies (in Ontario, Ca) for fresh handmade candy canes (Disneyland one is on the left. Logan’s won in taste!)

Cake pops! (Over 300 this week! These are Andes Mint)

I’m running home tonight for more peppermint bark, almond roca, an sugar cookies. I have an order for “goodies” for the staff and teachers at a local school. And then the holiday parties begin!

I’m going to set up my kiddos to decorate gingerbread houses tonight (no, I bought the sets, I’m not that much of a super mom), while I’m baking. We’ve had some health issues in our household too, so it’s been wild. Lots of running around. I’m hoping to be done baking tonight, before my last massage appointment this year. I may try to squeeze one last one in on Christmas Eve though, my gal is working that morning. All this baking, my shoulders are a mess!!!

Are you ready for Christmas? I’m almost there. Just a few thing left to wrap.

Congratulations to my winners!

Until next time,

Warning, this is a gush-y type post. Not about fashion, not about shoes, not about material things.

The past few days have been heartbreaking around the world. Connecticut, a shooting at an elementary school, precious babies ripped from this world at such a tender age. The equally horrifying event in China. I’m sure there were other similar incidents worldwide that didn’t make headlines. The media is sensationalizing it, which in my opinion might allow other mentally disturbed persons carry out their devious dark dreams. It’s heartbreaking.

I know I’ve held by babies tighter the past couple of days. Thinking we were safe in affluent shopping malls, nice areas, etc. It wouldn’t happen here.

Last night I found out I was very very wrong. I took my two youngest, 8 and 6 with me to a dear friends graduation in Orange County. It was a HUGE accomplishment, and I am so very very proud of her! I’m excited to see where she lands! After a very huge lunch (Buca de Beppo always delivers!), we parted ways. I had several last minute Christmas gifts I had been saving for this day, as the shopping in the OC sure beats what we have where I live.

Of course we head to Fashion Island, hello?! A visit to Kate Spade was on the pre-Christmas list! I also needed a new phone case, and it’s always a treat to buy it from Kate Spade, as they wrap it for you. Yes, I have my shopping wrapped. It’s so fun!

So, that done, we visited the tree, had to stop in Neimans (who doesn’t want to experience Neimans at Christmas?!), , Bloomingdales, and because my feet were at about done, skipped Macy’s. The kiddos wanted to stop in Build-a-Bear, and why not? (We had parked at Nordstrom, so it was on our walk back) I’d dragged them all over and they not only behaved, but thy kept their dress clothes clean. A stop to see bears, always fun!

And then it happened. Lockdown. Some man with NO prior criminal record starts shooting into the air outside of Macy’s. At Fashion Island in Newport Beach!

We spent a lovely time in the back room, it was only about 15 of us, so it was fairly calm. The sales associates were amazing. They gave the kids bears, clothes to dress bears in, and passed out candy canes. We had a back room Build-a-Bear party. I am so thankful that my feet ached. Because otherwise we would have been on lockdown in Macy’s, where it was mass panic. And we happened to be in a store that wasn’t busy, so everyone stayed fairly calm.

I was shocked though at all the rumors when they cleared the mall! People were running around saying it was a false alarm, etc etc.

I didn’t find out until we finally got home last night (3.5 hours later than my plan! Huge accidents on the freeways, and people were generally driving wonky) that there were in fact shots fired (at least 50!) and the extent of it. The incident made international news!

I am still numb this morning. Very thankful that no one was injured last night. I’m also thankful that my babies are safe. It just made everything hit home. It can happen to you (or me), no matter where you are. Good area, bad area, it only takes one person with a mission.

So hug your children tight, and stay safe readers. It is crazy out there right now. I pray for our country, those who have lost their lives, and the loved ones left behind.

I will be announcing my giveaway winner later this week. I am taking the rest of today to spend time with my children and stay away from shopping malls.

With a sad and heavy heart,
