Giveaway Update

Well, looks like as of RIGHT NOW, I have 80 entries. 20 shy of 100.

However, I will keep it open until Midnight, PST (my time), and IF there are 20 more entires by then (from commenting, liking, re-blogging, sharing on facebook, emailing me), I will add in a really adorable pair of kitten-heel Kate Spade yellow & white sz39 pointy-toe shoes. (they fit like a true 9, hence why they are in my go bye-bye pile)

NOW, if you win, and you are not a sz39 in Kate Spade shoes, I have some other Kate Spade items that I will let you choose from that are in the “bye bye” or “ebay” pile. And then perhaps I’ll put the shoes up as a blog sale post (something I am seriously considering doing. I really dislike selling on ebay!!) along with some other Kate Spade items. (eeks! hard to part with!! But I am trying to make an attempt to streamline my clothing addiction)

20 more entries!

Until next time,

Food Moments

Mmmm, we’ve been running almost all weekend, drama, piano, church, yard work, planting more flowers, 15 trips to the hardware store (well, not really, like 5, but it feels like more!!!), birthday shopping, so I did an easy “appetizer” night.

Pot stickers (oh man I love these!! I fry ours in grapeseed oil, it’s amazing), artichoke red pepper appetizers (soooo easy to make, and they look so pretty!). Ice cream for the kids later, and an ice cream shake for me that I picked up on one of my store runs! (it’s got caffeine, which I need today!)

I started dessert first though!!

My artichoke appetizers, it’s so simple! Here’s how I make mine (I adapted a recipe I found online, I didn’t like their ingredient list, it used onion!)

Jules’ Artichoke Appetizers

14oz marinated artichoke hearts
8oz cream cheese
1/2c Parmesan cheese
Chopped sweet red peppers (to taste)
Juice of one lemon
Garlic powder & salt to taste
Phyllo Dough Squares

Preheat oven to 375, fill mini muffin tins with phyllo dough squares. Set aside.

I chop the artichokes and red peppers, and throw everything in the bowl and mix. You can put the artichokes, cream cheese, lemon, & Parmesan cheese in a food processer (the only one I own is strictly for making almond meal for French Macarons).

After mixing everything, put the artichoke mixture into the phyllo cups. Sprinkle parmesean cheese on top (optional, I like the kick), and bake at 375 for 18 minutes (please note that I have a wicked crazy oven, so you might have to cook longer. Mine runs hot, but I am always baking, so I adjust accordingly. My oven and I are great great friends 90% of the time. The other 10% I want to kill her)

Enjoy! These are delicious!! And they are bite sized!!

Don’t forget, giveaway closes tomorrow!!

Until next time,

Giveaway Update

As promised earlier, and update to my giveaway that ends tomorrow!!

Here are the brooches, both are vintage pieces

Yes, there is something else in the box! But I won’t reveal it until I announce winners!

And I’m adding a second item (so, two prizes, two winners!) two passes to AMC theatres! These are Silver Passes, so there are some restrictions

I’m not sure how many entries I’ve had, I need to sit down and count. But, if it’s over 100 (that’s not 100 different people, but 100 entries amassed the different ways I’ve spelled out), I will add a pair of Kate Spade shoes as another prize, making it 3 winners.

Ways to gain entries:

Reblog my giveaway post. (gains you 5 entries!) please post here that you have done so.

Comment on any post I’ve made since I announced my giveaway. (comments on posts before that date do not count) each comment is 1 entry

Like my posts. Same as commenting, also one entry.

Email me! This gains you one entry as well.

So, keep entering! I’m excited to send everything out later this week! Yes, open to non-us readers as well.

Until next time,

Straussed Shoes

I love Christian Louboutin shoes. Especially the crystal ones. But at $3300+ a pair??? Not in my lifetime! Not to mention, sadly, CL shoes are just not that comfortable on my feet. Soooo, I’ve been toying with the idea of straussing a pair of my Jimmy Choo’s. There are some bloggers out there that sell their services, these two come to mind:

Red Soles Reborn

ReDo My Shoe

Both do amazing work. But $800? Sigh. I understand the cost, their time is worth it, unfortunately my budget, well, not so much.

Soooo, I’m going to attempt myself. I bought these flats for around $40, I can get the crystals wholesale, and it’s not like I haven’t done crystal or bead work before. Just never on shoes!

I’m thinking either ruby red (hello Dorothy!!), hot pink ab, or jonquil ab.

Any thoughts?? I will fill in the detail on the shoe and paint them first, and then crystallize them. I’ve been researching and such for nearly 6 months now. I really love the idea of something yellow, I wear alot of purple, and I live purple and yellow together! Well, and navy too!

And now off to run errands. We go to church on Saturday nights, so I’m wearing grubby clothing today. Well, shorts and t-shirt!

I’ll post another entry later, I had outfit changes yesterday, and I want to update the giveaway!

Until next time,

What I’m Wearing

Whew, busy morning!! I totally did the 50’s housewife thing and made a huge breakfast. And then in the middle of that was my “oh my God we are going to die in the rubble” moment when tht tiny earthquake hit. (yes, I know, I am insanely dramatic. I own it!)

So today, I’m channeling my inner 50’s!!

The Rundown:
Cardigan: Target ($6 on sale!)
Dress: Vintage Lanz, purchased at a vintage shop in Crestline, CA. I replaced the buttons, it had ceramic hearts, but 2 were missing. $40
Belt: thrifted, $1
Shoes: red patent Jimmy Choo’s
Handbag: Black Kate Spade
Necklace: Kate Spade

I know the red and yellow combination is rather odd, but I like the effect. I will ditch the cardigan quickly as its warm today!

I also got my new kindle cover last night!! $30 on eBay, and it’s Kate Spade. Soooo bright! (and the saying on it, that is some!)

I so have my nose in a book and my head in the clouds!

Until next time,

Spam Folder & Earthquakes

I just have to share my little chuckle this morning.(and my OMG WE ARE GOING TO DIE IN THE RUBBLE moment!) I’m going through and editing comments (approving, keeping track of entries for my giveaway, etc), and I realize I have over 50 “comments” in my spam box. Really REALLY funny comments!

Have you, as a blogger, ever read the “spam” comments? I’m very thankful that WordPress filters these, but I am also happy they leave them for me to delete, as reading them, it’s HILARIOUS!!!

I’m not going to post any here, as from what I understand, that just creates more spam. But it really gave me a chuckle this morning.

For my OH MY GOD WE ARE GOING TO DIE IN THE RUBBLE moment, we had a 4.1 earthquake about 20-25 miles from the house this morning. My husband said it was a sonic boom (as I’m running for the doorjam half screaming, Oh my God it’s an earthquake!!) and proceeded to teach all 4 children about sonic booms this morning. Of course once I fired up the computer and Facebook was sitting right there, all I see is “earthquake!!” on my feed from half my friends (the ones who live in the same area). I’m just thankful it wasn’t a BIG one. I remember back in the 90’s, we had those two back to back in the same day. 29 Palms, and then Big Bear, within a few hours of each other. I was fairly young then, and I pretty much refused to go in the house for a while. I have an overactive imagination, so even being outside, I was imagining the ground opening up and swallowing me whole. Aw, youth! (although, that movie 2012? it TOTALLY supports my theory!! I mean we LIVE nearly on the San Andreas fault line!!) *sigh* I lived in tornado alley for years, and even when the sirens went off, I never freaked out that much, but the slightest rumble makes me completely week in the knees!!

I suppose now I need to finish getting ready and take pictures to post my outfit of the day! I have one of my favorite dresses on today, it’s totally vintage. I’m going to force my toes into my favorite Jimmy Choo’s as well, I only have to walk from the house to the car, and the car to my oldest’s recital. And then back to car and home. Soooo, yeah.

It’s going to be a beautiful day out!

Until next time,
